I went into Burnt Hills laser for laser hair removal of my under arms and bikini area. The only female in the 'spa' performed the treatment. Prior to treatment I advised the owner that I had a tattoo on my right hip-he said that should not be a problem. I also asked if the woman who was performing the laser hair removal was licensed or certified-I was told 'yes' by the owner. During the procedure, the woman went over my tattoo with the laser, which you are not supposed to do, because the laser will blow out the pigment of the tattoo. The pain of the laser going over my tattoo caused me to scream, I could feel the shock all the way down into my bones. I looked down and saw a dime sized welt and noticed my tattoo was scattered. The woman kept trying to proceed, but I was in so much pain I had to push the laser away and tell her to stop. The owner looked at the sore and said its normal and it would heel in a couple of days. The heeling process was weeks. I had to go to urgent care when yellow and green puss started spewing from the site. I was prescribed antibiotics by the doctor to help heal the open sore. I now have a permanent scar, my tattoo is distorted and my hip (where the tattoo is located) is sensitive to touch-it almost feels like a sunburn. When I went back into the spa to request a refund, I asked the see the license of the woman who performed the laser hair removal, the owner of the 'spa' advised there was no license. I then asked if he was a medical professional, he responded 'no'. When I asked who deemed the woman fit to perform the laser hair removal, the owner responded "I did" (even though he is not a medical professional and does not have the right to deem his employee fit). I am writing to shed light that this business allows its employees to perform procedures, without proper certifications or licenses. The negligence of the owner of the salon resulted in 3rd degree burns, and permanent scarring. read more
