Korean Spicy Rice Cake

Fresh shellfish, live grilled barbeque, fun vibes. There are about a dozen tables that accommodate 4 people each around a grill in the middle of the table. There's K-Pop music videos playing and lively cooking action. Be prepared for your clothes and hair to smell like barbeque. The server grills at the food for you, which is great because we wouldn't have been about to do it ourselves. We ordered a few bottles of soju and lots of water. Our party of four ordered the Prix Fix Master Set menu. There was so much food! The shellfish was super fresh...it was fun to watch the clams open as they are being cooked and the abalone squirm. I loved the perilla leaves as wrapped for the squid and the cooking presentation when the server torched the squid. The only few drawbacks were the vents weren't strong enough at our table, the potato was overcooked/charred, and the shrimp were really tough to peel. There's a parking lot behind the restaurant along Ingraham Street that wasn't too expensive. You also might get luck finding free street parking in the neighborhood a few blocks away. Overall, it was a great experience and amazing quality!

Side dishes- cold noodle, steamed egg, fried shrimps and buttered corn.

Jeffrey has been very helpful and kind and informative. Awesome service, love the environment and vibe here, it feels like a fancy dining ambient. The food taste great we got the captain set best set in the house with lobster. Considering if we should end it with sea eel but will see how we feel after

This place is the definition of getting your moneys worth! I came here last month for my birthday with my about 9 of my friends. It was an amazing experience and I can't wait to come back! The food was amazing, and having grilled seafood cooked in front of you was surely an experience. I did forget the gentleman who took care of my reservation but he was literally the absolute sweetest. Our group did have to sit outside so it was a bit chilly but we still enjoyed. I'm telling you guys need to come here and experience it!

I've been hearing about this place a lot recently it's basically Korean BBQ but with seafood. Came on a weekday with a group of 8, and while it's usually busy, we grabbed a table in the back patio so we didn't have to wait too long. We went with the Captain Set and the Crew Set. Both came with banchan and cold Korean noodles, which were super refreshing alongside all the grilled seafood. Everything is cooked over coals, which gives it a nice smoky flavor that really brings the seafood to life. I even tried hagfish for the first time it's definitely unique, but glad I gave it a shot. Price-wise, it feels a little high for what you get. At the end of the day it's just mainly clams and mussels.., so it didn't really fill me up the same way a KBBQ set would. But the quality was good, and I liked that the meal finished with a hot noodle soup comforting and a nice way to end the spread. Overall, it's a fun spot to check out with friends if you're into grilled seafood and want something different from the usual KBBQ routine.

As a seafood lover, I love this spot. Service was quick. He was nice and helpful. Seafood is fresh. Tbh, everything was great. I'm not a mussels person and I didn't have any. We came with a big group and everything came out fairly quick. Performance def a watch too Will def recommend and comeback

Truly a delicious and unique seafood bbq restaurant. Really enjoyed and thought the food was delicious. I was worried the set fog 1-2 people wouldn't be enough but we left very full. Highly recommend if you are trying to lower red meat consumption

* Price: $100 for two (no hidden fee!) 4+ stars. * Ambiance: simple, casual, seafood korean BBQ. 4 stars. * Location: ktown. Street parking. From other reviews, the restaurant has parking in the back. * Meal: if you like seafood and KBBQ, look no further! 5 stars. * Service: friendly and pleasant. 4 stars. This restaurant came up on my IG feeds... looks awesome... we were not disappointed! The restaurant does not take reservations online. We came on a weeknight, found a street parking right infront and got seated right away (scored!) They have 4 tower sets: crew set ($109) serving 1-2 persons, chief set ($159.99) serving 3-4, master ($219.99) serving 4-5, captain ($299) serving 5-6. They also have a la carte, hot pot, etc. We had crew set which includes 1.4 lbs Manila clams, 2 whole shell oyster, large clams, shrimps, mussles, scallops, octopus, potatoes, served with korean ceviche, steam egg, pancake, spicy rice cakes, korean noodle soups. There are 3 different dipping sauces which are delicious. It is a lot of food. You definitely get your money worth here. The staff is friendly and attentive. They cooked the seafood at the table. The air ventilator is pretty good but I probably won't wear my must dry-clean clothes to dine here. Overall, Burnin' Shell did live up to its hype!

I ordered the Captain Set ($200) which promises Manila Clams, Whole Shelled Oysters, Large Clam, Shrimps, Scallops with Cheese, 3 Abalone, Hagfish, Live Lobster (Steamed), Marinated Baby Octopus, Buttered Squid, Potato, Sweet Potato, and sides of Ceviche, Steamed Eggs, Korean Pancakes, Corn Cheese, Fried Shrimp, Korean Spicy Rice Cakes, Bay Scallop Soup, and Korean Noodle Soup. It was quite underwhelming as a majority of the seafood served was just clams. The more expensive seafood promised was only one piece per person. Notable items: Manila Clams, Scallops with Cheese, Buttered Squid, the butter sauce with the lobster, and the Korean Noodle Soup. They also slow cook everything so we were in there for almost an hour and a half to two hours. It took even longer because one of the clams refused to open up so they had to get us a new one. Nothing truly stood out to me or appeared as worth the price. Since it's primarily protein, you don't feel full at the end as well if you don't order extra carbs on the side. This was enough for 4 people if you only want to feel 80% full.

The vibes at this place is unmatched!! Loved it and their seafood is amazing. Our server provided great service with grilling.

What We Ordered - Crew Set It was my first time at a seafood bbq place so I opted go try a set menu instead of a la carte. I enjoyed everything but key highlights were the Korean ceviche, steamed egg, fried shrimp, Manila clams, mussels and whole shelled oysters. Now that I know what to like, will go with a la carte in the future! Dipping sauces were great, especially the green sauce!

"Came back for the second time -- generous portions and amazing food!"

Third time here and always great. Fresh clams, good portions, and fun grilling. Friendly staff too. Will be back!

Hello, are any of the seafood wild-caught please?

I don't think they have wild caught . Their price range is too low to serve wild ones... but quite great quality.

Is this restaurant have all you can eat?

No, not a all you can eat restaurant.

How is the parking?

Lots of spots behind the place !

Is the companion set included in the pre fixe combo? Is rice included? Appreciate your answers as I'm considering the place for my son's birthday.

You can talk with the chef if planning a private party and we can include rice but normally we do not serve rice.

Mondays - Thursdays: Parties of 4 or more Fridays - Sundays and Holidays: Parties of 6 or more

The table shared a M bossam and two soups and it was plenty of food! I loved the clam kalguksu - the broth was lighter with a pepper-y kick and a generous portion of clams. The chicken kalguksu was more viscous and the soup was on the saltier side. Obviously the bossam was a table fav and we especially enjoyed the white kimchi! Overall, good food though service was a hit or miss. Definitely interested in trying the large $80 serving size for the noodle dishes lol! Street parking or valet

It's probably due to them taking your order while in line so that almost as soon as you sit down your food arrives. The banchan was really good especially the green one which I think was mustard greens. We order the Bossam (medium) and Spicy Seafood Kalguksu The Bossam was delicious but maybe a bit too much fat for my taste but I think that's just personal preference. What totally blew us away was the spicy seafood kalguksu. The broth was so savory and the noodles were silky and bouncy. Definitely getting this again but my hubby might do his with extra spice. The portions are huge so meant to be shared and you will have leftovers. The only thing they were stingy with was napkins. I might have to bring my own Kleenex next time.

They've mastered the art of keeping Korean flavors while dropping in modern twists that totally elevate every dish. The braised galbi served on a spread of mashed potatoes with various mushrooms is a total masterpiece. The zabuton is also one of my favorites if you like an asado and plenty of garlic. The golden chicken nuggets with seaweed powder on top are so perfectly crispy and packed with flavor. I have to admit the corn cheese egg rolls are probably my favorite thing on the menu, something as simple like a mozzarella stick type of appetizer just really hits it for me. And one of my favorite cocktails of all time. The staff is always so nice every time. They're attentive and honest with us if we are over-ordering. The ambiance is elite, even after renovation. Danbi is an absolute gem in Ktown. It's the perfect spot show off the city to out-of-town guests or for an incredible night out. 10/10 recommend!

We got the large bossam platter, kimchi jeon, bindae tteok, and mandoo guk. There was 5 of us and it was a lot of food. We had quite a bit of leftovers. Bossam platter was great, the meat was tender. I really enjoyed eating it with the radish wrap. It didn't feel greasy at all. Paired with the mandoo guk to take a break from bossam was the best. Service wise, we did hit the button for a server and it took a bit for them to come help us. It was a bit busy and we were in no rush. One of the oldest Korean restaurants in Los Angeles, Kobawoo (written in Korean as 고바우) House has…read morebeen at this Vermont Street strip mall in K-Town since 1983 (their moniker is 'traditional home style...'. It is pretty elegant inside, away from the shabbiness that most older strip malls in this area now reflect. I came with my daughter's father-in-law (SJ) for a weekend lunch, and we really enjoyed it. Kobawoo is named after the main character in a famous Korean satirical comic strip, with the name evoking resiliency in Korean culture, just like what the owners wanted for their restaurant. It has a nice modern website, with one page menu appearing with pictures. We took the Metro so didn't need to worry about parking (which was already packed) and were seated right away. Pretty much everyone inside were speaking Korean, and it was actually pretty quiet inside with a low key vibe (no flaming cheese or sizzling plates here). SJ ordered for us, getting the Combo Bossam ($75.99). The normal part was boiled pork belly with napa cabbage (both boiled plain and uncut pickled), pickled daikon, radish kimchi and wraps, and salt fermented shrimp. The combo portion added steamed skate and glazed pork feet (hock). We got to choose the steamed rice accompaniment, either white or purple. Later we got a large bottle of Cass Beer ($9.99) to share. Four banchans came immediately with the rice, and all were excellent: I really liked the egg omelet dish (def taking more than my share) and the cut napa kimchi. There was a bit of a lull, then the feet came out next. then the skate next, the main plate of pork belly with toppings last. The pork belly was served slightly warm, with the rest of the food being room temp (or cold). I enjoyed the pork belly, not so much the skate (didn't realize how gelatinous and [edible] boney it is) and the pork feet (served cold hock, not my favorite as the ratio of collagen/fat to muscle was too much for my taste, but glad I got to try it). Even though we ate meat from the most fatty/gelatinous parts of the pig, none of it was overly greasy. The ability to customize to get levels of spice and structure is what makes this so good. Each bite was an adventure, and I really enjoyed trying different combo wraps with the various ingredients laid out in front. Was glad that we had a booth for four, allowing us to spread out. We definitely ordered too big for the two of us, bringing a lot of it home. They have more affordable lunch specials as well, but it being a Saturday was not available. They do have the traditional dishes served by Korean restaurants (Kalbi, BibimBap, and JJigae). They are also known for their their jun (pancakes). Service was good, with them only coming over when asked. We had a lot to catch up on, and never felt hurried as we casually enjoyed our food and drink. They brought over take home containers once we asked, and paid at the table. The servers wished us well as we left, and we noticed how the parking situation had gotten even more hectic from the time we came in. The restaurant appears in Eater's 'Classic Los Angeles Restaurants Every Angeleno Must Try' list, specifically for the boiled pork belly dish. Bossam isn't usually the dish most folks think of when choosing Korean food. If it is, this restaurant certainly is the place to come to.

If you're searching for some of the city's best pork, then those in the know will bring up Ham Ji Park. For 2 decades, generous platters of pork ribs and pork neck stew decked every table. Now, our Korean friends lament the loss of their favorite pork joint in the city. The Koreatown proper location is located in the Royal Plaza mini-mall, just a few blocks off bustling Wilshire. Discounted parking is available in a lot across the street from the Chevron gas station. From the street, the entrance is flanked by potted plants and an enclosed street-ery. Inside, stainless steel chairs are pressed up against wooden tables, each outfitted with a metal grill. Oppressive fluorescent lighting shines down on the stone grey walls, which are left undecorated apart from a few flatscreens. Multi-lingual chatter blends with the sizzle of platters. I visited with some friends for a weeknight dinner, and about half of the tables were occupied. We shared a spread of grilled platters and sizzling soups. The meal began with a carafe of barley tea and a mostly standard spread of banchan. Across our food, the best dish was the signature Charbroiled Pork Spare Rib. The ribs were flavorful without feeling gamey, and the meat was complemented by sweet caramelized onions. The pork ribs handily outdid the good-not-great Charbroiled Beef Short Rib. Lastly, the Milt and Cod Rose with Vegetables stew was fishy and briny, appropriately flavored for the Korean palate. The service was appropriately attentive, although I would've appreciated more intentional refills of our banchan ramikens. The rib plates cost upward of $35 each, while the soup was just under $30. The portions were hearty; a single entree platter could reasonably feed 2 moderately hungry bellies. It's a shame to hear that Ham Ji Park has closed; I'm kicking myself for not trying their pork neck stew earlier.
