I found Crossfit Proven about 4 years ago because a friend encouraged me to try it. She was in…read moregreat shape, and she said this was the place that made it happen. I was reminded to leave my ego at the door and take each day as an opportunity to accomplish something new. Crossfit Proven coached me through physical and emotional challenges as I struggled and succeeded. I took a break from Crossfit for personal reasons for almost 2 years, but was welcomed back at Crossfit Proven with open arms and an encouraging community of people. The 'personality' of Crossfit Proven is great. Once again, I was grateful for a place that could greet me with enthusiasm 'right where I was' in my return to the sport. I am able to participate without apologizing for all I can't do. Instead, I am cheered on for what I can do. It is an environment that allows me to focus on success and safety. I attribute this success not only to the 'personality' at Crossfit Proven, but also to the programming and the coaching. Everyday is something new, something challenging. I am working at an appropriate level every minute that I am there - from the warmup to the time I leave. The coaches take time to remind me of little adjustments to my form that will create a safer and more effective workout. They are encouraging and inspiring and patient, even when repeating a simple queue that I should already know. They don't waste time. They move things along, while still paying careful attention to finer aspects of form and technique. I appreciate that. I really love the shoulder saver 'clinics', the chance to extend a workout with the Proven Athlete program, and the variation & extra opportunities for those who have competition driven aspirations. The facility has plenty of quality equipment and space, so it's possible to have a great workout in the midst of lots of people because it's outfitted so well. The schedule is robust, with many different times to attend a session. I don't have to plan everything around a scheduled session at Crossfit Proven, because it is always easy to find a session that fits into my day. I've seen this 'box' grow over the years, and I see the value in working with an established Crossfit Affiliate like Proven. They've been through the startup phase, they've learned what works and what doesn't. They provide what really matters - great personality, strong coaching, proven experience, outstanding facility, quality & vast equipment & a robust schedule. The owners are present and involved in the operations at Crossfit Proven and it shows. This is their thing, and they are good at it. They are 'all in' and that matters. I'm not a competitive Crossfitter, and I don't want to be. I simply want to be challenged and meet my goals without getting injured. There is a place for me at Crossfit Proven, alongside some of the best Crossfit athletes in the area. And for that, I am thankful.

I was intimidated by CrossFit in the beginning and the coaches and other members offer great support and modifications as I learn my way around the gym. They stayed respectful of everyone's time (ie started and ended on schedule) and explained things well. They really took the time to help you learn the different movements and encouraged you to push yourself further when you were ready. The coaching is the best thing about Proven, and with Matt leading the charge that's no surprise. You'd be hard pressed to find a better coach or trainer than him, and he programs great balanced workouts. I've moved out of the area but I miss Proven everyday!! Highly recommend!

They welcomed the effort but didn't push too hard for exercising. There weren't any obstacle course elements in the class. We were allowed to stay after and ask some ninja warrior potential experts on a few techniques of the obstacles. It was nice to celebrate little victories- kind of like the non-single Matt Nathanson song of the same phrase . This place has obstacle course equipment with more of an adult look but kids are also welcome and encouraged as they probably bring most of the funding to the gym too. Outside had some equipment as well as part of the 30 min circuit training. Some people might not like the younger kids or the dogs that were around. The kids around were in line and well behaved and one of the dogs seemed jealous of not enough attention and started to get in my way of my running path. It was a bit comical for me. Oh a temporary break lol. Some of the staff keep the place well cleaned and maintained. This was probably a 4 star experience for me but the community element here helps me bump it to a 5

All the staff members were so nice & friendly. My son decided he wanted to do a backflip on the trampolines and asked one of the trainers, Alex, if he would help him. I would like to preface this review by saying that this was my very first experience with crossfit…read more I knew very little about crossfit, what it entailed, how much physical and mental determination it would require. I initially chose CFVF because it was convenient to work. The "box" is located inside of the Aspiring Champions complex in KOP. I've been attending CFVF for almost a year now and this has been the best experience of my life. I attend classes 4 days a week and the changes I have experience over the past year have surpassed my expectations. The coaches are ALL amazing! They are friendly and extremely knowledgeable. They exemplify what it means to be leaders. The guys are great and they know there shit! With that said, they maintain a light-hearted, encouraging atmosphere, even when the workouts are kicking my ass! The other patrons of the gym are also very nice and welcoming. There is an amazing sense of comaraderie that you don't find in other fitness facilities. I attend class in the early AM and it is never too crowded. The small class size makes it feel as if you have a personal trainer. If you are considering crossfit and have access to CFVF, I would highly recommend trying them out. Again, I chose this particular gym because it was convenient to work, but I can tell you that if I ever left my job in KOP, I would still attend CFVF, eventhough I live in center city. Yes..I said it. I would still go out of my way to attend CFVF even with the horrendous traffic on 76!

Having been to 6-7 boxes, I've learned that coaches make or break the box. The coaches knew what they were talking about and were able to explain the movement mechanics well. They really focused on form and technique which is extremely important to me. The members of the box were also super friendly. Honestly, the box felt like my home box (Crossfit Central Houston) - that's how comfortable they made me feel. During my 2 weeks at CFVF, I got my first pistol, PR'ed my 5RM OHS, and climbed my first rope. I don't know if it was something in the water over there or what, but it was a solid 2 weeks of firsts. I can't wait to go back to CFVF the next time I'm in the KoP area.
