This Burlington is pretty consistent with others I've visited--clean, organized, and easy to navigate. When they have what you're looking for, you can definitely find some great deals and hidden gems. The only downside for me has been the customer service. Each time I've come in, I've had to greet the cashier first, and the interaction feels pretty flat. They do help when needed, but the overall vibe comes off a bit disengaged and lacking warmth. I came here to get my friend a gift for her daughters birthday. They had a quick gift that I put together which was baby clothes and an age appropriate toy. I recommend this place if you need to do some holiday shopping on a budget. Lots of hair brushes, razers, socks, towels, and home goods here. The only con was how long the line was to checkout. Clothes are so tight on the hangars, it is so difficult to grab them off the hangers, yet hang them back up. Check out was delayed due to a glitch in the card machine. What has happened to Burlington? I don't mean this in a positive light! Before we had Burlington in Thousand Oaks, my long-ago first experiences with the chain was at the Ventura Store. Several decades ago it was a pleasure to walk into their store and find name brand items at good prices. I bought a glorious black wool coat with faux fur hood there over 20 years ago that I still wear, and still receive compliments on. I think I'd be hard pressed to find such a special item there now. As I recall, they had distinct departments with attractive merchandising features within each area. Their return policy then wasn't the best, but it still was a decent place to shop, often a few steps above Ross. While in the area yesterday, I popped in to look for some simple pants at a decent price. I was disappointed to see that everything is now on endless racks in long rows which aren't that easy to shop. There is almost no creative / inspiring merchandising any longer. (Reminded me of Nordstrom's Rack, a shopping experience I do not enjoy!) Despite this challenge, I did find several pairs of pants, some cozy slippers, a gift for Dear Hubby's birthday, some inexpensive holiday jewelry, and tried on some winter coats. Didn't buy a coat this time, but was encouraged by some of the options I found. I can report that several employees that I passed were out and about in different departments, cheerfully offering assistance. That would normally bring up the rating, and I do appreciate that customer service touch. The very poor merchandising negates that aspect of my experience, though. Dear Store Manager, please consider returning to a departmental merchandising approach with round racks and actual displays. I believe you'd move more goods if they were featured in an attractive manner. I did make purchases, but didn't feel uplifted by the shopping "experience" at the store. They do do have friendly staff, whose upbeat attitude is brought down by the way the store presents itself. read more

Horrible experience at Burlington CF in Ventura. 6 months ago I went in there, based on prior purchases, looking for sandals. I would ve paid what was necessary for a good brand, but all I found was UNISA for $18. They proved not only to be unreliable and short lastibg, but because the thong fulcrum inserted into the platform pulled away entirely, I lost my balance and spread eagled onto a sidewalk almost hitting my head against a brick building. People ran to help get me up. I had no receipt, but did use a debit card and showed it and the indication of an $18 deduction in my check register to the Burlington store manager. She showed no concern that a product they sold almost killed me, and because I had no receipt as well as the fact 45 day return policy expired, she said basically Sorry, buyer beware. I still wear high end label coats bought in 1993 at Burlington in Boston but now, will never buy there again. It resembles a thrift store. I reported the whole incident to corporate...it was a lost opportunity for the manager to have a customer come back. When I told her I spent 1000s over the years at other branches, she said, We ll survive...we make more than 1000s per year. Basically, who needs you? That cuts both ways... I ll stick to Marshalls, Nordstrom, even Macy s and pay a few dollars more. Better than another spread eagle on the sidewalk. Buyer BEWARE. read more

My experience started off ok. Escalators were down so it was a bummer for my 3 year old and I since she loves going on them. I purchased one toy item that was like $5.99. I got to the register and there was one cashier open but I saw 3 other employees standing around. I was the only person in line and waited for 15 min. The customer in front of me had to get something price checked so another employee had to find the price. So I waited some more. By then I was losing my patience so I asked for another register to open since I had my toddler with me and she was over it and tired of waiting. The employees response was "she's on break." So i asked if I can just pay for my $6 item really fast but she said no. I had cash ready and everything but supposedly she can't cancel the transaction. Which she can she was just too lazy to rescan everything and call a manager to void. It's ridiculous. So I waited some more, by then more customers started lining up behind me. Finally someone else came and helped and I went my way but this location needs major help especially with customer service. No way only one register is open. My sincerest thanks to Stephanie, Colleen and Francine!!!! I am visiting town for a few months and will return, but needed a place to send an Amazon package. I ended up contracting freaking pneumonia upon arriving to town, great job, and found myself in the hospital. I have an immuno compromised condition and even though released, needed a nebulizer to continue once out so that I could keep breathing. It was super scary!!! And thanks to my janky body, if I didn't get it ASAP, I knew I would land straight back in the hospital within short order. Anyway, I was having a problem getting the package. It was after hours but Stephanie literally took my phone and grabbed the package for me (for liability reasons I couldn't come inside, but she could see how badly I needed it). Both Colleen and Francine were there as well and facilitated the whole military operation to save my sorry behind. It was night, of course, and I am sure if I didn't get it then I would have ended up in the ER if I had to wait another day. They were all SO SO sweet and helpful, I wasn't expecting that kind of help at all! I didn't have to beg, they just sensed it was important and took care of everything. I heard the Amazon lockers are new. They are such a great thing and def work to increase sales- I've been back a couple times to both pick up packages and then shop for other needed items in the store while I was there (the staff at the registers are nice too - to the girl at the counter who admired my Blundstones, I hope you get a pair too, you're so sweet!!). Burlington Coat factory is not your store if you are looking for customer service or clothes in every style and color. It is your store if you are looking for a low price and you are willing to keep your eye open with a creative mind. I just picked up a beautiful emerald green dress that was $29.00 instead of the one in a department store that looked just like it for $139.00 and up. I am only gonna wear it once so I don't want to spend that so this is my store. They don't have them in every size or color so I feel lucky. If you find what you like I suggest grab it because it won't be there when you go back. They offer 30 day return with receipt. The parking is easy and convenient. They have the one line that feeds to all the clerks which I like so you don't get stuck behind that one problem person. read more

Yikes! What happened to this store?! I used to shop there and bought a couple coats and some cute cotton skirts. I remember a whole section of shirts and blouses that were cotton or wool ...natural materials. Now it is a sea of toxic, chemical laden, imported trash. It is filled to the gills with stuff, not an unused foot of space. Just crammed full of junk. And no mirrors, so you are forced to go to the dressing room, even if just trying on a sweater. Went to Burlington to find little bits and pieces for my halloween costume. I found a very cool bedazzled women's top that worked well with my alien costume that I planned on wearing this year (to set the scene, I'm a 6'2 male).. After finding the top, I decided to take it on over to the fitting room to try it on. Once I got to the fitting room, an old Karen with blonde hair and an angry scowl angrily approaches me to assign me to a fitting room. I try it on, everything looks good, and I decide that I would like to purchase the top. After exiting the fitting room and making my way to the register, the angry Karen then decides to snatch the top out of my hand while then slamming it on the counter... I pause in confusion, blatantly staring at her wondering why she just did that... she looks back at me and asks " you're not taking it right?" I reply back to her " I was actually going to take it, can I have it back?!" She then hands it back to me reluctantly, sighs and rolls her eyes... Before this happened to me, I saw a similar incident happen with an Arabic lady who was also trying on a top. After she tried it on, she wanted to do some other shopping while debating on the top... Angry Karen snatched it out of her hand... It's disgusting how much you can smell the discrimination from this lady. The evil look in her eye is purely sinister. I just recently returned some onsies for my little one and the cashier was so friendly and quick. Wow, I believe I just may stop shopping in one of my favorite stores. And let me tell you why. I am somebody who has the type of skin coloring that not everything goes with. So I will pull things off the rack and just hold it up in front of me so I can see if it is worth trying on and I won't have to pull it into the fitting room with me, since they only give you a ridiculously six item option. Apparently they have remodeled the store and chose not to put any mirrors up on the floor with the exception of one in the corner of the back of the store in the men's section by the men's suits. Worst customer service ever. Store assistant manager Stephanie is rude and horrible at her job. Thought she was having maybe a bad day and gave her benefit of the doubt but no, three separate times she's been rude and I never received any type of follow up for her as promised or the store manager. Some other girl was having. A full on "F*ck this and F*ck her and that.... " on the floor laughing and other employees were loudly talking about a couple shopping in the store at night saying they think they were stealing etc. - all the customers in line heard it all. . And yesterday I heard and watched a female Emily was walk by the cosmetica wreck of an aisle and abruptly yell to lady close to me "maam YOU CANT OPEN THE BOXES PLEase close it up now!"- um.. the boxes were open in a trash like pile of clearance items she picked it up and was looking at it. Wow first and last time I ever go to this store. Bad service the store looks sad inside and out. I had an issue with this female cashier I let her know about a shirt that smell really bad. Ok this store normally is full of very rude and inconsiderate customers.. The employees are basically zombies and the quality of merchandise is cheap! This BCF feels like someone cleaned up a Ross Dress for Less -- then cleaned it out. Selection = No Bueno. On the upside, I bought two designer suits here for the price of one at Nordstrom. This place is very interesting to me. I like it because you never know what your going to find however you don't know what condition you will find it or if they will have another one. That's the only thing. They have a little bit of everything not just one thing. They have Clothes for everyone, shoes, Sox, they have baby furniture, regular furniture, they have pots pans, but if you need help good luck. So I had to make a return. I was scared after reading all the problems people have had here within the last year. Idk who Corey is but the manager on duty was a Hispanic older guy. I lost my receipt and because it was a gift for someone who told me the wrong size, the tag was partially gone. So the cashier had the girl with the colored hair help him try to find it. And then another cashier joined. And then the manager helped. A half hour of always friendly employees trying to pinpoint it, they finally just found a similar, but not exact match, and refunded me at the price I had told them I paid. Not what I expected but I am overjoyed at this experience. So maybe that miserable Corey guy is gone But yes it's not the cleanest always and there are no coat racks at all today for the women. So first off they are no longer Burlington coat factory, just Burlington now. Second when I was there a women passed out and hit her head on a jewelry display. 2 other women were helping her out and I told the cashier to call for help. She looked at me like I was nuts, I see the women start to shake and possibly seize and this time I said in no uncertain terms to call for help. When finally someone came I tried to explain what happened. The women apparently had just given blood and instead of eating she went shopping. The staff at the store wanted to give her water, I was like no she needs sugar so they decided it was ok to open a kids drinks from the display.
