Big Lots, for me, has always been just to the side of budget retail, kind of on the periphery. In…read moremy experience in the past it felt more like a closeout shop, not entirely unlike the Land of Misfit Toys, where things that weren't wanted by someone else ended up. For years I found their stock unreliable and of varying quality, so it would generally be the last place I'd go when looking for something. But that was then. I don't know what kind of magic has happened in the last 10 to 15 years, but Big Lots has improved *ahem* lots! Stores are cleaner than I remember, stocks are shelved.....strike that...reverse it....moving on. Merchandise quality seems to have improved. What brought me to this location was my combination Birthday/Christmas gift from my wife (I have a December birthday). I've got a recliner that we call my "Dad Chair" that is at least 15 years old, probably closer to 20. It's tired and she said "we need to replace the Dad Chair". Wifey is great at research and we visited a couple other furniture outlets before we got to Big Lots. Nothing really worked for me at the other places, then we went to Big Lots. I was impressed with the furniture selection at this location. I was not expecting thar much variety. I tried out every single recliner in the place and settled on one pretty quickly. Britt helped us through the sale process, which was amazingly easy. Then she told us where to meet her around the side of the building to get the chair, which was still in the box. By the time we drove around back she was waiting there with the chair. Since the box was, like, enormous, we had to take it out of the box to put it in my car. Britt helped with that, too, unboxing that chair like a champ and even assisted getting it into the car. I was 100% impressed with this Big Lots experience and with Britt, who was very personable and very funny.

Returns are immediately to your left upon entering and have been fast and easy for us. They also have a small cafe with seating and a Starbucks in case you need to fuel up before shopping. We left with an Icee today and it made me so happy! Always well stocked and easy to maneuver. Download the Target app and shop at the store with it. I find digital coupons and at times, better pricing that can be matched. Plenty of cashiers and self service kiosks.

Target is Target is Target…read more For the most part Target is copy/paste no matter where you go. That being said, of the 3 that we visit regularly, this has got to be the busiest. Granted, it's in an enormous retail megalopolis so foot traffic is going to make that happen. On a recent Saturday we were in the area doing some other shopping and Target was our destination. To be honest, after having been to 5 or 6 other retail outlets Jim was about wiped out. Into Target we went anyway. My sole complaint about this location is the parking/entry situation. The store is basically on the corner and right by the entrance from the street into what I'm suddenly going to call the Parking Village, so it can be a challenge for both the driver and for pedestrians. Keep your eyes open, people, and stay off your phone when you're driving in this area. For being inside the Christmas shopping season (Let's face it, it starts November 1 any more) the store, while busy, wasn't crowded. After stops at a few departments for some Targeted (see what I did there?) items (Brand New ABBA CD? Yes, please, and thank you!) we decided to browse a bit. I was glad that Christmas wasn't out in full force. It had a presence, but we weren't in full-hype Christmas mode. Thanks for not rushing it. Most of the shelves were well stocked and there was no clutter of pallets in any of the aisles (like some other retail establishments.) Paper products could have been replenished but for the most part things were in great shape. This is one of the few retail places I've been to recently where I didn't have to send out a search party for someone to give me assistance locating something. I looked around a corner and there was a young lady there who knew exactly where the self-sealing stem bolts were located. I'm still on the fence about the updated snack bar/Starbucks arrangement in some Target locations. I mean, it's cool and much more self-sufficient, but at the same time I was pretty used to the way things used to be. But we move forward, not backward. Thanks for tuning in. I appreciate your patronage.
