We could never recommend. We purchased a 26kw whole home generac generator a couple month back. They set it up and told us to run it 24-25 hours to break it in and they would come change the oil and make sure everything was working fine. At the time of install I was told not to install the app because it was junk. Hours after the tech left we did install the app and after running the remainder of that day of install and throughout the night we manually shut the generator down at 22 hours as we noticed the app was showing the battery was discharging all night and the motor sounded like it was misfiring and had an exhaust leak. The technician came out and found a wire was hooked up wrong and then pulled the spark plug to show me it was fouling out, that wasn't an exhaust leak, the rocker arms that push the valves down were pretty loose on one side of the engine. He removed the valve cover and tightened the rocker arms down using feeler gauges, yes I watched, and he reused the old valve cover gasket. As a former auto tech, manager and instructor for 40 years, I asked if he thought that was a good idea and he said it was fine. So the generator has been doing its 5 minute cycle for the last few weeks and one day I hear the generator misfiring and tapping badly again, it now has 25 hours, only 3 hours since the last valve adjustment. I call Burkhardt out again and it is the same valves loose again. The technician took the same valve cover off and sure enough the same rockers are loose. The tech didn't leave anything loose, the engine must have a part wearing out, maybe a camshaft or rocker. He adjusted the valves again, reusing the same valve cover gasket for a second time, unheard of in the automotive community....I ask the tech what he was going to do about it and he said let's wait and see if it does it a third time. Omg, really, the generator has never run with a load, we lost power for maybe 30 seconds one day. So he wants me to wait again, I said I will call Generac, he said it won't do me any good because they will want photos and there is nothing to show them. I then called Burkhardt starting on a Friday explaining what is going on and this is a brand new generator and we feel this is unacceptable. There was no return phone call Monday as promised so I called. Tuesday no one called us so we called Generac and got a case number but they tell us they will not do anything unless Burkhardt calls in. After no call from Burkhardt Tuesday I called them again, I was then told Jason Burkhardt would call me. Wednesday comes and Ronnie calls me, not Jason, and he tells me they want us to wait and see if it happens for a 3rd time. I explained that is unacceptable and no one would accept this as a solution if it were their new car or riding mower. Later that day I called Generac again and 42 minutes later they say the same thing, they cannot do anything unless the dealer that installed the unit calls in and makes a technical complaint before they can move forward with any remedy. I called Ronnie back and ask as nicely as I could to please call Generac...we shall see if he does...so far they have been unwilling to help. Did I mention we gave Burkhardt $14,910 for this generator that is less than impressive and Jason Burkhardt doesn't feel it is important enough to call us. In our mind this unit needs to be replaced. read more

The technician forgot to send me the estimate. I called their office to see what was going on and they said they would contact the technician. Still heard nothing. 2 phone calls later and I finally heard back from the technician who admitted he got the original message and forgot to call me. I texted him my email address so he could send the estimate and 3 days later I still don't have it. Completely unprofessional and not worth your time. read more

I did contact the office, spoke with the manager, who then referred me to the owner. I explained my situation and the owner yelled at me and then hung up on me. At my time of service, I overheard him yelling at his employee over the phone. Didn't think his aggressive behavior would carry over to the customer. Overpriced in comparison to the competitors. Dishonest because he allowed his employee to charge me for service that I didn't need, especially when I was in desperate need. Just plain dissatisfied, as were two other families I spoke with. I have been using Burkhardt for several years and they have never failed to deliver the utmost service. Recently purchased an older home and Burkhardt replaced two older air conditioning units. The pricing was competitive and the workmanship and installation was perfect. They have come back two to three weeks after each installation to make sure everything is working correctly and that we are happy with the units. Their techs are very careful not to damage anything when working inside and very polite. I would recommend Burkhardt for any of your AC needs. read more

I was looking for a company that could handle all of my a/c, heating and hot water needs and Burkhardt more than filled the bill. Jason Burkhardt personally guided me through the purchase and installation of our whole house generator and tankless hot water heater. Their a/c department takes excellent care of my heat pumps and related equipment. Compared to the other company that I was originally using, Burkhardt's prices are definitely better. All of their employees that I have dealt with are courteous, professional and very happy in their positions with this company. I highly recommend Burkhardt's! read more

As with the previous post, I have found Burkhardt to be one of the most expensive companies. There is no set service fee or discounted price for repeat customers. I have been advised by friends and colleagues not to use this company again. I recently needed their services for heating issues in my home. While they were quick to respond to my call and the service technician was friendly and knowledgeable, I was ultimately disappointed in the end result. Needing a new thermostat, the technician offered an extremely expensive replacement that they carry in the service truck. After declining and suggesting that I could buy one MUCH cheaper myself and inquiring about an installation cost, the technician returned (after talking to his boss) to say the installation fee for my own thermostat would be $135!!. They also could not possibly return until the following Monday (the appointment was Friday) - and my house was now at 59 degrees and dropping. After talking to friends and colleagues, they assured me that this was an absolutely ridiculous fee to charge, considering the fact the "diagnostic fee" that day was $94 -- AND I was an established customer. Unfortunately, Burkhardt has lost my business permanently and I will most certainly be discussing my experience with friends and colleagues. read more

We were thrilled with our recent service from Burkhardt. We called late in the morning and had a tech at our home by 1 PM. He stayed much longer than he'd planned (I'm sure) trying to diagnose a problem, fully servicing our unit, and installing an attic tent. We asked about options to reduce our bill, and, although they could have sold us something much more expensive, we were recommended to go with the attic tent. I'm certain that when we get our next bill it will be significantly reduced. Burkhardt is timely, cleanly, and does right by their customers. Highly recommend!! read more
