    Double smash combo
    Danni L.

This is a good burger. It's in the top 5 of my best smash burgers in the Los Angeles area. A small little aisle store located on a popular corner off the Venice boardwalk, the front guy is always chill and helpful. The burger is perfectly smashed with crispy edges and yummy house sauce. Good spot.

Ended up here with friends on an unexpected overnight LAX layover.

This was my first wagyu smash burger -- juicy & delicious -- especially enjoyed the crusty, almost burnt edges. Same great pickles as Popeyes Fish Sandwich. Excellent hand-cut fries. The 1000 Island sauce was perfect for the burger and fry dipping. Really impressive customer service. Also fun, Bohemian atmosphere. And you can walk it all off strolling the boardwalk.

Its solid. Located right next to the ocean. Good portion, fat fries and tasty in house sauce. The order of double smash combo was ready in 10 mins. The price is what caught my attention - $15 total after tax where others charge you close to $20 Outdoor area is exposed to the sun so you better find a shady place. Overall good experience. Best smash burgers on the West Side. Absolutely delicious. Especially with the optional sliced jalapeños. The French fries here are exceptional as well. The place is pristine clean, new and the owner takes pride in each and every burger Stop by and give it a try I guarantee you'll rate it 5 stars

Burger was really good. The fries, not so much. Saturday night and only took a few minutes to get our order. Will be back for the burgers.

Undeniably best burger spot in town. The single is where it's at, must add on cheese fries.

No complaints about the HiHo double, it was a good standard burger. We wish the pastrami came with more meat. Kind of wish the fries came with burgers instead of us paying extra for such a small serving of fries. The milkshake though, totally worth it! It was the perfect blend. It took longer than I thought to get the food, but it was lunch time so what can you do. It was a nice day so we sat at one of the tables outside. I ordered The Big Marty and was disappointed. The burger was smaller than expected and super greasy. The fries were also oily, with very small portions and lots of tiny broken pieces. To make it worse, the fountain drink machine has apparently been broken for months. What really left a bad impression was the extra 6% fee added to all orders. They mention on their website that it's not a gratuity or tip and is used to fund their operations, but it still feels unnecessary when prices are already high. Nice location and view, but the food and extra charges make it hard for me to come back.

We went to see the Mario movie because it was $6 Tuesday, and the movie ended a little after 9, so we rushed over knowing Hopdoddy closes at 10. When we walked in, they were already mopping floors with chairs up on tables on one side, but there were still a few people eating in the bar area, so we figured we were okay. We ordered a Thunderbird bowl (dressing on the side), the burger of the month, the Smothered Texan (free, because we're Legendary status) a doble fina margarita with a tajín rim, and a Sam Adams draft. I checked the time when we finished ordering--9:34 on the dot--because it already felt like the kitchen was trying to shut things down early. We sit down, chatting, all good... until we realize our drinks haven't come. We're seated in the bar area, so we can literally see the bartender chatting with a couple, NOT making drinks. Then our food arrives. Still no drinks. I ordered a chicken patty, which typically takes longer to cook, so there's really no reason for food to beat the drinks out. I check the time again and it's 9:45. I'm about to get up, but I see the bartender finally pouring the draft, so I wait it out. Then I realize my bowl came with no dressing at all, so I get up to ask for it. On my way back, I pass the drink pickup area and see my husband's beer just sitting there... next to my empty margarita glass. Meanwhile, the bartender is back to chatting instead of finishing the drink. I had planned to just grab the drinks myself to save the server a trip, but instead I'm standing there trying to get the bartender's attention--or at least hoping he'd mix the margarita while he talked. He eventually noticed me and started making it, but by then my food was sitting at the table getting cold, so I went back to sit down. I didn't even get a chance to take a picture of the Smothered Texan because by the time I got back my husband was almost done with it. The drinks finally arrived at 9:50. And to add insult to injury... the tajín rim was barely there. Honestly, I waited tables all through college and I get that it's annoying when people come in close to closing (especially on a Tues) but the experience shouldn't feel like you're inconveniencing the staff for being there. Between the missing dressing, the drinks sitting untouched, and the bartender prioritizing conversation over service, the whole night just felt off. Disappointing, especially since this has always been one of our go-to spots.
