I finally understand why this place has 4.9 stars instead of a perfect 5. I was walking around Venice Beach looking for a good burger and kept seeing great reviews for Burger Spot. Since I was specifically craving a smash burger, I decided to give it a try. The good news? The food was exactly what I came for. The smash burger was juicy, flavorful, and cooked right. The fries were good, too. And as a bonus, they had Cherry Coke Zero -- which is surprisingly hard to find these days. For about $15 including the drink, I thought the price was completely fair for Venice. So why am I talking about 4.9 stars? Because my wife ordered lunch from the Italian place right next door. That's when an interesting comparison happened. I waited about 15-20 minutes for my order. When it was ready, I got up and picked it up myself. The burger came in a takeout container. After I finished eating, I threw everything away myself. Meanwhile, my wife received her food in about five minutes. It was served on a real plate. Someone brought it to the table. Later, a staff member came by to ask if everything tasted good and if she needed anything else. The funny part? She paid only a few dollars more than I did. Both of us left the highest tip option the terminal offered because we appreciated the effort and wanted to support local businesses. And that's exactly when it clicked. Burger Spot serves a very good burger. In fact, I'd happily come back. The food deserves the reputation. But when the restaurant next door delivers a noticeably better overall experience for almost the same money, the difference becomes impossible not to notice. So yes, I'm still giving Burger Spot 5 stars. The burger was good. The fries were good. The price was fair. But if the owners ever wonder what separates 4.9 from a perfect 5.0, they don't need to look very far. Just look at the neighbors. No hard feelings -- that's simply what I experienced as a customer. This was my first wagyu smash burger -- juicy & delicious -- especially enjoyed the crusty, almost burnt edges. Same great pickles as Popeyes Fish Sandwich. Excellent hand-cut fries. Where do I begin with this place. Owner is awesome and the food was amazing. Great meat quality, fries were so good with the homemade sauce they give you. Burger had such a good flavor that we ate there two days in a row. Nice hidden new gem on the boardwalk. Wow! What can I say? This place is a hidden gem, right off of Ocean Front Walk in the heart of Venice Beach. The owner is so kind and hospitable; you can just feel it as you're ordering. I got the combo which comes with a burger, fries, and drink. The double smash burger with jalapeño pickles (although you can get regular ones too). The burger was just divine. Well seasoned, didn't need any salt. Great quality wagyu beef. It really tasted better than ones all across LA that I've tried. The bun was super tasty too. The fries were really good too.
