Burger Physical Therapy in Grass Valley is absolutely stellar. The best in the area by far, and I have been to many physical therapists over the years. This is the first place I can actually say that I leave feeling much better than I did when I walked in. I have been an endurance athlete who really pushed, and messed up my body. Then I developed Psoriatic Arthritis (an autoimmune disease), and had also experienced several fractures over the years doing stupid things. I secretly thought I was the king of pain for a while, and that pain was just something I was going to have to live with. UC Davis did some wonderful procedures that helped with the pain, but still it persisted. Until now. Frank is a professional to beat all professionals, in my book. He knows his stuff, and I know he does. I'm a former I.S.S.A. personal trainer, and licensed veterinary technician, as well as former mortician. My point with that mini resume is that with all those occupations, I had to study human anatomy, kinesiology, and biology and often I have known more about the human body than some of these so called pros in other physical therapy establishments. I know how to help myself, and what muscles, and processes are involved in my injuries in a lot of instances, but when I don't, Frank does! I felt so good after a few sessions, that my goal of being able to be steady, and in shape enough to start working out again was met, and Frank said I was free to do so, but start out very slow. But I felt so good, I didn't follow his advice, and just started running after a decade of not. I ran five miles! Two days later I did it again! Next week, same deal. I ran 20 miles in two weeks after being sedentary from illness and injury for a decade! How cool is that? Except, the uncool part, is that I didn't follow Frank's advice, and did not start out slow -- I went from zero to sixty in a day-- so I developed shin splints. It was such a painful condition, it sent me to the E.R. Three steps forward and two steps back. That's where I was. So back to Frank I go, and I was limping when I did. He performed some excellent manipulation, and did some myofascia releasing, massage, and kinetic tapping, and guidance in exercises to stabilize and improve mobility, and to ease pain. This morning I limped into the office, and today I walked out like a healthy 25 year old. (I'm 59). I am incredibly happy with the results. Frank rocks like no physical therapist has rocked before. I cannot recommend this physicality, and especially the work of Frank, enough. Just finished reading the reviews and I certainly didn't personally relate to their experiences. Im a 77 yo , in poor shape partly because of my knee pain, who underwent knee replacement 4 weeks ago. In the four sessions I've attended so far, I found the staff to be caring, supportive and professional. I didn't think the facilities were dirty or a slum. I personally liked the atmosphere which helped lower the anxiety of working out muscles and tendons that haven't been cared for over three years. I had full answers to every question I posed and was given detailed instructions on how to exercise and take care of myself at home. Patricia, Dawn and office manager have bent over backwards to provide me with the best support to make this painful surgery be a success. I respect others opinions but must state what my true experience has been. I totally recommend this facility. read more

In my many years experience as a massage therapist, yoga teacher and admissions advisor I operate from a place of care and concern for my clients wellbeing. I like to make sure I am welcoming and supportive to everyone. I did not have this experience when my son and I went to his appointment this morning at Burger Physical Therapy. In fact it was the strangest experience I have ever had. In past experiences when I explain to a physician or professional what was happening and why we are there I am usually met with understanding of the situation and then a plan of what they can do to help. That is not what happened today, in fact I was met with contempt for the fact that I was explaining the situation instead of my 14 year old son who had never experienced physical therapy before and was told that my Dr. might not be a good Dr. for implying that he needed physical therapy before he could play sports. I was told by the PT that some times parents and teens want different things and I felt that the PT did not want to help us. When my son assured him that he in fact does want to do physical therapy he was sent to a machine and not given an explanation as to what the treatment plan was and what they would be doing together as a plan moving forward. When I suggested that perhaps they can explain what was happening or the reason for the machine I was told that they didn't have time to explain their education in physical therapy. I am not impressed with this situation in fact I am really taken back and concerned. I have never written a yelp review in my life but I came here to see if others had a similar experience. read more

I had never been to a physical therapy place until this one, so I had nothing to compare it to. But the slate was clean and my mind was open. From the start, my surgeon's order was questioned by the therapist who did my intake paperwork. I didn't get to stick with the same person every session, so nobody got to really know my situation well. I know their names, but I'll withhold them except for Frank who was the bright spot of the whole experience. He seemed kind and knowledgeable. Sadly I didn't get him all the time. The intake therapist tried applying an electric massager to my fresh hip surgery scar. When I nearly jumped off the table, she said I was hyper sensitive and suggested I desensitize it by applying different textures like hairbrush bristles. The final straw? I went in and the only three humans in the place were the intake therapist, the receptionist, and me. Five minutes into my session, the PT says she needed to catch up on paperwork so the receptionist would be handling my session. I was hesitant but I tried it. Bad move. She made me do stretches I shouldn't have done. By the next night I could barely walk again. Now I'm about to find out if they wrecked my new hip or not. If you go here, steer clear of everyone but Frank. read more

My intake interview was complete and documented with precision as to my current status and care needs. I broke my heel and needed the tools to get me walking without a limp and without pain. With Patricia and Franks professional experience and intuitive instruction- I am now back to running! They recognized the physical and my mental challenges of coming back from an injury. They treat the whole body and thus the whole person. I highly recommend this team and I am grateful for their commitment to health care when so many are leaving the profession. Absolutely terrible. That really sums it up. Very unprofessional and no results. They actually have a sign hanging up in their facility that asks you to talk to them first if you were thinking of leaving a bad yelp review. That really says it all. I am pretty sure the only reason anyone stays at this place is because they are the only ones in town that take all insurances. Don't go here! Update: just as a response to the "business manager" that replied to my comment...what an interesting response to a review. I never saw you at the facility that I went to. How would you even know how things were being run there? Did you see what I experienced? No, because you were not there. The quality of service from the therapists that were there was terrible and unprofessional. To tell me that my experience was invalid, and that I'm just here trying to badmouth the business is absolutely ridiculous. A proper response would be reaching out to me and asking me exactly what happened. But no, you immediately jump to attack and play victim. Perhaps you don't take all insurances, but you sure take the crappiest insurance around, which is what I have. I'm assuming a ton of other people have that as well and end up stick with you. And just for the record, none of the other physical therapists, or my doctors would ever recommend me going to Burger Physical Therapy. You have a terrible reputation around town. This has been reiterated to me repeatedly by the professional places that I have gone to. Everybody gives the 'cringe' look when I mention that I went there. Ok, rant over. Burger physical therapy explained clearly what my physical issues were due to my injury and the best path forward. They were crucial in helping me heal myself and getting back to a productive life. I really felt like the entire staff was there for me at a time that I needed it most. They set attainable goals and put together an exercise routine that I could stick with, targeting not just my injury but my whole body. I feel better and stronger now than I have in a long time. This isn't just a job for these people, they practice what they preach and you would do well to listen. I give them five out of five stars easily read more

Patricia and Frank are both awesome individuals and excellent therapist. They got my Father back to fully functioning less than one year after a severe motorcycle wreck. They schedule you out weeks in advance and give you lots of exercises to do at home. Wanda at the front desk is a very kind and attentive office manager. 1st apt in and as soon as I walked into the doors I got major anxiety. Hard to tell who works there and who doesn't, no uniforms or company logo shirts to identity. This place reminds of some underground medical BS for the poor. The whole layout of the place was not very inviting. I walked out after a few minutes. I do not recommend this. read more

I am probably the worst critc I know. On December 27th, 2022, I severely fractured my right forearm. I also had two hairline fractures in my pelvis, and a torn labrum in my right shoulder. I was sent to Burger Physical Therapy for rehab. When I got there, my right hand was about 1/2 the size of a baseball. I could move my thumb about a half an inch, and my arm moved about four inches away from my body. Patricia did an evaluation of my damage. She also took notes on everything, and wrote down measurements of my ability to bend and use my arm and hand. Patricia. Frank, Sarah, Willow, and Doug created a plan for me to get back to where I was before. Physical Therapy takes time and patience. None of us are going to heal in a few weeks when we have a traumatic injury. With the education and experience of everyone at Burger Physical Therapy Grass Valley, and a lot of home work that the therapists there gave me, my hand is at about 90%. I go in for my shoulder surgery in a week, which can be a little worrisome. But with the Burger team behind me, I know I'll be just fine. Thank you all for the love and positive energy too. Do not go here... the place is absolutely disgusting and dirty! On top of that, the lady therapist is incredibly rude to Alec, her assistant. I could not believe the way she was talking to him. Oh, and her laptop was dead, so she couldn't efficiently do my evaluation. Wow... all I can say is this place is a hot mess. Worst physical therapy experience I have ever had. Showed up for my first appointment on time, was seen 15 minutes late. Sat down with the PT and she didn't even look at the paperwork I had just completed, but began asking me the questions directly. OK, that's fine. She then evaluates my range of motion and pain points and I guess determines what's most likely going on. At this point, I've been seen for all of 10 minutes. I sit back down with her and another patient comes in, she then see's the other patient and asks me to review this at home exercise packet (definitely not more of 5 minutes is needed for this) while she helps the woman that just came in. I figured, it would be a short amount of time with the other lady and she'd get right back to me. Nope, she proceeds to sit with this other woman and shows her how to put a brace on and adjust it for 25 minutes. Finally, I think, I'm now going to get to actually be seen. Maybe a little ultra-sonic massaging, tens machine therapy, anything....NOPE. Someone else had come in and was waiting during the time she was helping the other lady with the brace. I'm thinking maybe they have scheduling issues as it appears their is only 1 PT person for all the patients? All she did was come over, go verbally over the take home exercise packet in less than 5 minutes and then dismisses me. I was seen for literally 15 minutes and was there for a 70 minutes. Can't wait to see what they bill my insurance. Let me just say, I was thoroughly irritated when I left and do not plan on going back. Very unprofessional and totally rude. I left work early for this appointment as well. It was like my time was not valued but ironically they have this Cancellation & No-Show policy that states "Our therapist's and patient's time is valuable and appointments are in high demand...", I think they mean only the therapists time is in high demand. My advice, steer clear of this place. read more
