This used to be my favorite burger place they had so many unique options for sauce and toppings just to name a few the chipotle chup, onion slaw, garlic goodness sauce, this was the best burger you could eat in town. They then changed owners and took away every unique topping and now they are an ordinary over priced burger. Nothing worth wasting money on. The burgers are big and have quality meat. Honestly one of the best burgers I've had. You can make your own, right down to which bun you want they even have gluten free. Their shakes are amazing and they have a new one every month to try, though my favorite is Oreo. My dad swears up and down the chicken burger is from heaven and he won't ever get anything else. My mom always gets the salads, she loves them. The employees are very friendly and seem really happy which is nice. Customer service is on point. I eat here like twice a week. I would seriously recommend. Bad things- -It sometimes smells realllllly greasy, I mean it IS burger place so that's good but sometimes it's just overwhelming. -You can sometimes here the manager yelling. Burger Monger did not quite hit the spot for me. I just feel like as soon as I walked in the door, I smelled a bunch of grease. My husband and I ordered a burger each, and an order of fries. The cool thing was that you could pick from a list of different toppings for your burger. The fries were just okay to me. I just did not feel like the burger tasted anything special. I feel like I have had great burgers, and actually got to go to the burger showdown where they had a bunch of burgers from the Tampa area. I don't feel like this one could compare to those. In the area, my fave burger is a chain yes, at Red robin, but it just tastes so good, out of the ordinary, and I love the fries there. read more

Excellent burgers. My only complaint is the dripping grease from them, but that's what also makes the burgers yummy! I loved every bite of the food. The French fries taste homemade, they have a yummy "Monger Sauce" I put on my fries and burger. I only asked for cheese and mushrooms and loved it. My husband got cheese, fried egg, onions and tomatoes and loved it. I would come back again, but I'm going on a diet Monday so it'll be a long while. Lol read more

Had an amazing experience at this restaurant. It was my first time eating here and we were greeted at the door by the founder Jake Hicktpn who explained the menu and quickly introduced us to the general manager. The burger was probably the best I've ever had and the fries and onion rings were great. All night long the founder was coming to our table and telling us jokes and stories and asking how our meal was. Everyone in the restaurant was very attentive. Then the founder gave us his personal business card. Best experience I've had in a restaurant in years. My new favorite place and the care and service d was outstanding. read more

What a complete let down. The burgers had an obviously greasy taste (like old grease) and the lettuce wrapped chicken sandwich I ordered the chicken was bland with no flavor at all and dry. Also for $2.50 to get such a small side bag of like 6 or 7 bland overly greasy sweet potato fries is a scam. Highly disappointed and will not return. I'll stick to burger 21. read more

Horrible experience. Did curbside and called when we arrived. They said they'd bring it right out. After waiting close to 10 minutes, my husband went in and they were just standing around gossiping while out food was sitting there ready. Got home (only live 5 minutes away) and fries tasted like they'd been sitting out over an hour. Emailed the manager and they're only response was fries don't last long. I guess that's there way of making it right? We get take out with fries several times a week and have never had such cold, soggy fries. Won't go back. read more

Not impressed by the remodel and menu changes. It has been a while since we last visited this store. Today, we decided to give it a try again. First the good. The staff is friendly but not very attentive, many of the old staff is gone which is sad since they were so good. The menu changes are not good either. The spinach salad which was awesome is gone, one can no longer have a choice of the single of family size home made fries. Someone thought it was a good idea to change the old fries for their new FLAT limp fries. I must wonder did anyone at the corporation do a run through and placed them on a plate? Not appetizing. They offer a second veggie burger which is good, their home made one is still good. Not sure if we will be back with the changes. I do hope they bring the old style fries back. read more

Once one of the best burger chains in Tampa, now a tasteless shadow of what it once was. The new owner turned the former warm, family atmosphere into a sterile locker room with benches. The food was disgusting. The once famous Haggen Daas ice cream, malt shop shakes are now soft-serve Dixie cups with a squirt of syrup. We returned it and got our money back. It was hard to locate the chicken on the chicken sandwich and the toppings & bun were tasteless. A meal at McDonald's is 10 times better. The service was dead slow and the manager, who was nice and polite, struggled to come up with any reason for why things were so bad. He did apologize and said, "I just work here." We had indigestion for over one hour! We will never return and odds are they won't last much longer. A textbook case of how to ruin a business. read more

We used to love Burger Monger, in fact it was our favorite burger place, but we tried the new menu tonight and we did not enjoy the changes. My daughters did not like the new Mini Monger buns (seemed like Hawaiian buns) and the hotdog buns seemed to have a sweet taste as well. The new fries are also not nearly as good as the previous fries. They were like very thin steak fries, or thick potato chips and were very limp and soggy when we got them home. While we loved the original Burger Monger, tonight we were trying to decide where we'll go now for burger night. We did stop in a week ago for a milkshake, and those were still great! Not sure why the new menu was rolled out, but we really did enjoy everything about the old Burger Monger, from salads, to hot dogs and burgers, to fries and shakes. A friend and I used to come here once a week for some thick tasty burgers, unfortunately since the renovation (which, granted, does look more aesthetically pleasing) we'll have to stick to the one off Dale Mabry. Shortened toppings list, got rid of the award winner garlic sauce, and replaced the shoelace fries for FANCY teas that frankly, aren't good. My burger was also quite undercooked, but considering the poor workers were probably exhausted from renovating and we just wanted to get out at that point, I didn't say anything. We both agreed that it feels as though they're trying to change too much for no foreseeable reason, is it even Burger Monger at this point? read more

UPDATE: BM Now has better fries! They got rid of the floppy skinny steak fries and are back to fries more closely resembling the original fries. Although they still seem from frozen, they're 10x better than what they had before. Also really like the nitro lemonade. Not sure when they updated their cheese sauce but it's incredible now. I used to love this restaurant but they made changes to both the decor and the menu that have put it more on a level with McDonalds and BurgerKing than to a high-end burger restaurant. They used to have wonderful fries that were made on site, now they use small steak fries made off-site, I didn't both to ask what preservatives they needed to use but they are not fresh. One no longer has access to the high-end cheeses like Brie, and the toppings are now very limited. I used to get a hamburger wrapped in a very nice soft lettuce, now it's on a bed of iceberg. The shakes used to be made from real ice cream and were to die for, now they are custard, the drinks are over $2 and are small plastic cups. They still have the same high prices though as we spent almost $30.00 for 2 people. They used to have TVs mounted on all walls, now there are 3 on one wall only. The decor has gone from warm and inviting to Castle Black dining hall where the walls are flat white and the tile looks like leftovers from 2 different construction jobs. All in all the decor is more like biker bar than a restaurant. All in all a memorable experience but not in a good way. read more

I'd had this place bookmarked to try for a while and so glad we finally did! This is one of the best burgers I've had in a long while. It was absolutely satisfying and totally pleased our very discerning palettes. This place should never be compared to the likes of Steak and Shake or even the popular Oakleys Grill. The burger was perfectly cooked and everything was executed to perfection. The brioche bun was the best vessel and perfectly toasted. The fries are amazing, also best I've had in a long time. Everything was to our satisfaction, the only thing that left a bit to be desired was the chocolate chip cookie. I will definitely be back and bring/tell others! read more

Saw they had a special on Mondays so popped in to try it out. Got the monger burger which is supposed to be 1/3 patty. I know that's pre-cook weight but there's just no way. That wasn't even a 1/4 patty. Obvious skimming and lying to customers. Also ordered onion rings, which were way too thick, and only 5 of them, and they were brought to my table 4-5 minutes BEFORE my burger. Who the heck wants their side before the burger. It's not an appetizer! I asked a girl about it, said that's how the owner wants it. Dear owner, cut those rings in half and give 10 more normal sized rings that may actually keep breading on them. Too thick, was kind of gross to eat that much onion at once/one bite. Can't believe how poorly these places are run around here. Not sure if a manager was on duty. They're sooooooo close to getting this right. My #1 complaint for burger places and complaint #20 for Five Guys is this: you're a burger place...ASK me how I want my burger cooked!!! Not everyone likes Medium Well. You're a specialty burger place...should be able to handle that. Overall my burger was tasty, and I heard their bun was a bit sweet...and indeed it was. It was put together well, toppings placed nicely on top and presented well on a plate as ordered. I like that they offer draft beer, although a bit pricey (especially with beef o brady's next door). Ordered 2 Monger Burgers ($6.99/ea) and 2 beers (yuengling and brooklyn) $26. I think a burger and a beer should be capped at $10 each... Another recommendation for a place like this and others like it...offer some example burger topping "themes." With so many choices, a first-timer may be over-whelmed and under the pressure to order, so they just order a cheeseburger. But offer choices like "Mexican Burger - chilli, cheddar cheese, and jalepenos" or "The Five Cheese Burger - ...with 5 cheeses" or "Garbage Burger - everything...including fries" Just my 2 cents. Overall though, it is what it is. I knew exactly where I was going and what would be offered. Ordering was easy and delivery to my table was timely enough. Would recommend stopping in to check it out if you're in the area, but I wouldn't go out of your way to try. read more

I really enjoyed everything here. Great job! The burger was perfect. Seared and cooked to medium well, but still very juicy and tender. The fries were excellent. It seems like everyone is doing fresh cut fries now but these were top notch. The service was superb. They took their time to explain things to us on our first visit, joked around with us and were very attentive throughout the whole experience. This is a very good Burger place. I'll test the hotdogs and other choices later and get back to you. If your in my nexk of the woods you have to try Burger Monger. This is the best hamburger joint hands down. I've had their burgers, hot dogs, chicken sandwiches, macaroni and cheese, french fries, milk shakes and craft beer and everything is absolutely amazing! The food always taste fresh and piping hot. My favorites are the burgers, Mac n cheese and milkshakes... It's the best hamburger in town. My only complaint would be their pricing. It's hard to go as a family of five and get those items without spending more than $50. We'd go more is their prices were more for for a family but we can only visit a few times a year. Went Friday with the kids before shopping... Reminded me of 5 guys but has a family owned feel. Also, there are some welcomed differences. There are a bunch of toppings (including not so typical toppings and cheeses) that you can add to your burger. I went traditional, but loved their garlicky pickles. Yum! There are gluten free buns and salads available as well... Kids meals come with veggies or a fruit cup and fries are ordered for the table. There are a few sizes to choose from, the server at the counter helped us pick the right one - just enough for me and the 3 bugs. All of my kids ate their entire burger which is unusual.
