This location seems like a cross between a restaurant and a convenience store, but don't let its humble appearance fool you. There's some great burgers to be had here! I guess we should start with the headliners, which are the stuffed burgers! These hearty creations have a variety of fillings stuffed into the center of the hamburger meat itself, making them a huge moist juicy and delicious handful! The variety of fillings includes mushrooms and Swiss; boudin; BBQ brisket; and even macaroni and cheese. These are a great choice, but one can also get a plain old fashioned hamburger or cheeseburger with toppings outside of the patty if one wishes. There are a choice of breads for these, so if you want it on Texas Toast or a Jalapeno Bun, it's all good! Then you need a side. There are of course fries and onion rings, but also tater tots and sweet potato fries. If you have any room left they have a pretty nice selection of ice cream and frozen treats. This location is just north of I-10, so it's convenient to stop into for a quick lunch. If one is so inclined, you could get an order to go, and enjoy a picnic at the nearby Maplewood Park.

McDonald's open and near the hotel. Atmosphere - Not rating as we used the drive thru. Food - I was not the driver, and did not want to search the menu for something different. I went with two cheeseburgers. Was informed by the pick up window that "Everything is cooked to order". Which I say is BS. Our hotel is in view of the drive thru, aka walking distance. My two cheeseburgers were at room temp and the cheese did not even melt. I think they took two old patties and built my burgers. I really do not care that my wrapper on the cheeseburgers were on the wrong way. So hungry I still ate those two blah cheeseburgers with my beer. Service - Simple. When we got to the second window, they told us to go to Spot 1. "Everything is cooked to order". We had to ask where Spot 1 was. They could have told us to go there immediately after paying. When I walked in, I was greeted with friendly faces and service that surprised me. Thank heavens, the Louisiana Whataburger has its spirit. I was told that it was to help make closing easier. How does having one drive thru lane closed affect the speed of closing? Anyway I place my order and am let known that, again, there will be no fries this evening as they are out again. I'm frustrated again at this point and say "Wow, two nights in a row no fries". And the gentleman taking more order says "Yeah, you gotta get here earlier if you want some fries". I've NEVER been to a CFA that didn't have fries and I've NEVER been spoken to by an employee at a CFA the way that I have been when I come to this location.
