Wythenshawe in South Manchester isn't really known as a gastronomic destination. The majority of…read morerestaurants listed for the area are take-aways and cafes, all of which I'm sure are great in their own regards, but they're all pretty similar. This is why I like The Met Stop Diner. Someone decided to take a vacant space in Wythenshawe's town centre Civic Centre shopping precinct and build an American themed diner. Something different! A new angle! When you walk in, it's nice to see that they haven't half-baked it, they've gone for the full classic American diner interior, with red, white and chrome seating, condiment baskets, and a big mural of the New York skyline on one wall. The menu does try to cater for multiple tastes, with some classic English cafe classics such as the Full English Breakfast, but they have a good selection of American breakfasts too, as well as hot dogs, burgers, deli style sandwiches, and a few house specialities. My favourite part of England meets America was that on the tables there was one of those little silver ice cream dishes, which we came to realise were specifically for putting your tea bag in after taking it out of your tea! WHY DON'T MORE PLACES DO THIS?! This is such a simple idea, but I've only seen The Met Stop Diner do it so far, and they're American themed! There were three of us on this day, and we were all ready for breakfast, and so chose the American pancake stack, the Full English Breakfast, and the American Breakfast, as well as three mugs of tea. The tea came out first which was good as we all needed a brew, but as the breakfasts were cooked fresh to order, we'd drunk our tea by the time our food came out. A pot of tea might be a better idea, but it's not very American! The Full English was a standard cafe breakfast to be honest, but still decent homely stuff. The American breakfast was so substantial that it couldn't be finished, but it was agreed that the pancakes were great, as they were also on the stack of pancakes. Very enjoyable indeed. We'll definitely pop in again when we're next in the area, as the rest of the menu looks great too! The only thing I would suggest is reprinting the menus (as they were looking a bit dog-eared), and checking the spellings (Chicago, not "Chicargo"!), but if that's really the only thing I can find to suggest as an improvement, you're definitely doing something right, Met Stop! See you again soon!

Pub has nice interior, staff were friendly and helpful. We were seated immediately and had a range of meals (pie, ribs, chicken). Ribs and pie were really good, chicken was a bit dry. Very friendly staff when you could get a hold of one. We waited about 20 mins before anyone brought us a menu another 15 or so till they took our drink orders and another 20 mins before we were able to call over someone to take our order. Once we had our food and beer it was all good from there. Great food nice and hot. The wings here are absolutely delicious of your used to wings covered in sauce you won't get it here the sauce is drizzled on. Ordered the sharing platter for two cause well I can. The food is great and I am proud to say I finished it unlike my buddy. Who struggled ! They had a few beers on tap and were out of most of them so you should not even bother planning for that. I heard out side is nice but I was focused inside trying to get someone to notice me. From what I could hear it was noisy lot of kids outside. So yep that's it. Get the food, get beer in a bottle, be prepared to wait so bring a board game or something maybe a good book. Enjoy.

The tables and chairs in M&A are a mismatch of odds and bods but this combined with the weird and wonderful wall art and trendy bar give the place so much character. After a few cheeky drinks down Burton Road my friend and I decided that our bellies needed food so we jumped in here in hope of finding a table. We were luckily enough (especially considering it was a Friday night) to find a table in the small back room. Until this night I'd only ever popped in here for drinks so I was happy to see a varied menu. I think they were possibly a little under staffed as getting served at the bar took an age but I can't deny that the food and drink were both perfect. I opted for a mushroom and pesto stone baked pizza, which had a crisp base and a perfectly crunchy crust. The sauce was very flavoursome and the toppings plentiful. I enjoyed every mouthful. To drink I had not one, but two Mai Thai cocktails (afterall it was Friday), which were both mixed to perfection, with a handful of ice, the sweetness of pineapple juice and the warmth of plenty of rum. I would recommend this little bar to anyone and everyone who is visiting the area.

I initially popped in in search of coffee and wifi to finish off some last bits and bobs for the day before heading over for the #worldofwine event but looking at the menu and being here on a Monday I decided I could make room for an early dinner! On Mondays they do burger and a beer for £10 - that's gets you your choice of burger, fries, slaw and a choice of beer from the Camden Brewery selection. I had the chicken and bacon burger with a pale ale, both lovely! The coffee I had before my food was average but then again they aren't claiming to be the next Starbucks. The chap working at the time I was in was extremely helpful and friendly as well! Most likely will be back on my next didders trip!

The ribs were disappointing but not awful, more of a steamed flavor than good grilled ribs. What ruined the meal was the "side salad." Rather than a salad, which is not rocket science, this was warm and soggy primarily cabbage (maybe sat under a heat lamp). It had virtually nothing in common with a salad and was inedible. I asked the waitress if it was the wrong thing, she agreed it did not look like a salad and took it back to the kitchen. She returned to say it was indeed the side salad (she didn't return the salad but I didn't want it anyway). To add insult to injury, they did not take it off the bill (I didn't want to fight, but really). I would try another option next time at the airport.

The nice thing about Giraffe is that they actually do seem to care about healthy options and offering something a little bit different from all of the chains that usually serve quick and fried/micro'd food. On this occasion I had tasty french toast with a side of bacon for breakfast - with some nice fruit and a flat white for good measure. All for about £11 which I think is pretty good for airport fodder. Definitely the best option I saw at Manchester Airport Terminal 1 - for breakfast, lunch or dinner, it'll sort you out!
