This review addresses two subjects; the BK App and the new Ch'King Chicken Sandwich. While the first lacks intuitive feel and is frustratingly obtuse, the later is a damned good attempt to compete with all the other clucker on brioche buns coming to fast food franchises around the country. The app offers many benefits not available to walk-in/drive-in customers. There are free Whoppers with first Ch'King purchases, discounted sides and drinks as "points" are accumulated, and surprise gifts with purchase on a regular basis. Today, it was vanilla soft-serve in a cone or cup when buying something of $3 or more price. So, there are pleasant upsides if you like the BK menu and can navigate the app. Easier said then done. I found that the special offers didn't always appear on the app from use to use. It wasn't obvious, therefore, which deals were present, and which expired. I found myself repeatedly returning to the opening page as I tried to work my way through the process. I ultimately got the ordering completed with what I wanted, but the time waste was a pain in the butt. If not for my curiosity and persistence, I would have deleted the app and driven to Popeye's instead. Yet, it turned out that the new Ch'King standard chicken sandwich was very good (I left the free Whopper for my son to devour). The breast was plump, juicy, well breaded/fried, and all quite tasty. The brioche roll was fresh and held together to the last bite. The special sauce was the flavor of mild mayo, tartar, perhaps a bit of Sriracha, and the pickle slices pleasantly sour and crisp. The Sammy was so thick that my jaws couldn't open wide enough to fit it in for my incisors to clamp down, without squeezing it together and shimmying it back and forth to slowly gain necessary placement between my dents. I chose onion rings over fries, and thought they were a decent alternative, although more calories. This Ch'king falls just shy of the Popeye's version, but ahead of Chik Fil-A, Wendy's and McDonald's iterations in terms of taste, texture, composition and fun. Too, it is competitive with the smaller chicken shops like Lovebird, at a better price. For someone who prefers chicken to burgers as a protein source, this is clearly a reasonable and satisfying way to go.

Maskless employees breathing on food. Food is what it is. Can't order inside for takeout but employees not wearing masks.

Terrible food and terrible service might as well dumpster dive. Trying to share food with a raccoon would be more pleasant than this.

I didn't have the pleasure of visiting Dog & Bull before it was renovated, but I visited last night and can't wait to return. My friend and I made a reservation for 5:30 PM (just in case) as we read online that reservations were recommended, but I don't actually think one was needed. When you walk in, it's bright and inviting. The garage doors throughout the property provide a ton of natural light. I can only imagine how lovely it is when they're open in the summer. Additionally, the outside has a nice patio and an area with a fire pit. The restaurant's layout was designed wonderfully! Our server was Alex (Alexandria) and she was the epitome of exceptional service. She checked in on us multiple times and always had a smile on her face when she came over. We really appreciated having her. The baked feta and hummus appetizer was just as delicious as it looks in the photo. The thick pieces of garlic, roasted red peppers, olives, cucumbers and pita bread triangles paired so nicely with the feta. The hummus was warmed up and it looked like the kitchen staff may have torched the top of it. It was phenomenal. Boy do I have notes on the lentil burger - it was 10/10!! I'm not a big bean person and even though this burger had beans in it, it somehow tasted like an actual beef burger. Sounds crazy, I know, but trust and believe it was pure excellence. I added cheddar for an additional charge and upgraded my regular fries to garlic parm fries. Finally, the caramel apple bread pudding... oh my oh my! What a DELIGHT. The top was piled high with a big scoop of frosting. Yes, you read that right. Frosting! Not ice cream! You can taste the apple pieces in the bread pudding. My friend and I wanted to order it twice. It was THAT good. It was easy to make my way to Dog & Bull from Center City thanks to the Septa station located directly behind the restaurant. Street parking also wasn't too bad yesterday. I absolutely loved the experience I had here and will be stopping by again this summer! Thanks, Dog & Bull!

Today, my order was a little underwhelming. I'm used to them cooking the steak through, the meat becoming dark, crispy diced shavings that pair well with the melted Cooper. My order today had a slightly undercooked, grey quality to it that also lacked in a good dash of seasoning, even if only salt & pepper. I believe I got a bit less meat on my sandwich than any other time I've been there too. I never watched Lord of the Rings or Game of Thrones because every last loser on earth was all about it. The Beatles fucking suck and Bruce Springsteen can go shit in his hat. Pumpkin spice is for pumpkin pie and that's it, no matter what these dizzy suburban women say. So the decision to visit Johnny Longhots today was based entirely on poor reviews. The guy who ordered a sandwich to the hospital and found a cheesesteak to be "greasy" deserves to contract MRSA during his stay. The dope who complained his fries were soggy ordered his shit off Door Dash. He's lucky the driver didn't eat all of his fries. The folks who called out the teenagers who are getting their first experience working can all get bent. You weren't perfect when you had your first job. Don't forget people like you willingly locked kids in their homes during covid. It's no wonder some of them struggle with social skills and working under pressure. Have a little grace, then eat a bag of dicks for not being patient to them. Don't get me started on that dipshit from Brooklyn. That person who rated the place a one for the soda? I already know who you vote for. Onto the food - the menu is huge. There are a ton of choices with something for just about everyone. There's even gluten free options for those fucking people. There were four or five sandwiches in the running, but it was the Gritty Cheesesteak that ultimately won out on my first visit. And that's a strange decision for me because the Flyers stink and their fans are even worse. They're the worst organization in hockey. Maybe I just wanted fries on my sandwich. Yea - that's it. So the Gritty is a good amount of beef, fries tossed in Old Bay and topped with white cheddar cheese sauce atop a seeded roll. I added fried onions. The sandwich scores higher than the Flyers. I was a fan of the seeded roll which was super fresh. The cheese sauce was tasty and complemented the fries really well. They were super crispy, well seasoned and plentiful. The beef wasn't the best I've ever had, but it was tender and cooked well. All-in-all a good sandwich. The gals up front were attentive and friendly. They took my order quickly. Hats off to the kitchen for getting my food out promptly among the online orders. The place was pretty clean and had a ton of Philly Sports pics on the wall. The music on the radio was some throwback stuff - thank God it wasn't any of that mumble rap shit most kids play these days. Johnny's has a bunch of lunch specials that look worthwhile and a decent value. Locally owned spot worth giving your business to. It's a 4-star review from me that gets bumped to a 5 to spite the mopes who gave it a one.

It's certainly on the larger side compared to most bars in the area. The staff has always been nice, but service can get slow when the crowd size grows. Just the nature of things. Food wise the menu has a typical mix of pub grub - apps, soups, salads, sandwiches, burgers and several entrees. A friend was eating their jumbo Buffalo Shrimp off the starter menu and raved about them. I stuck to a Cheesesteak which was average but a deal at $9.50 -- the chopped steak was decent, cheese was good just needed a bit more. Hot peppers gave it some kick and the long roll was fresh. Their beer menu has around a dozen beers on tap. They dabble in more mainstream big beer/craft beer like your Goose Island IPA's/Lagunitas IPA, but do have a decent show of locals like Yards, Victory, Troegs and Weyerbacher. Bourbon wise I had a Knob Creek neat which was average price wise. The pour was on the generous side. Each time I've been here the crowds have been friendly and having a good time. The band we listened to was great and the sound was crisp. Five Four is a family friendly grill during the day and a fun place for adults later at night. Thanks guys!
