Pizza Star is such an interesting spot to discuss when you talk pizza. There are tons of people who swear by it and a lot who say its an out of date place with crappy pizza. I actually enjoyed the throwback look. Wood paneling, old faded pictures of the old country hanging on the walls, orange booths and a manual menu board. They've kept it well maintained on the inside even with the menu board. I know progress happens and things change, but to take my kid to a place like this was fun. The menu was simple and not overwhelming which was great! Stick to the basics and make it well. My son and I sat at a table and watched some Wheel of Fortune on their TV while we waited for our large well done plain pizza. The guys behind the counter were friendly and speaking Italian. My kind of folks! Once our pie came out, I found it to be pretty darn good. I liked the sweetness of the cheese although I would have preferred more sauce. The crust could have been a bit crispier/charred and was on the thick/doughy side. I thought the experience was good here. Friendly staff, solid above average pizza, simple menu and fair prices. I can't believe I didn't know this place existed! Its just a pizza shop. But it's 9:30 at night on a Thursday, and every table is occupied. Whole families are here. The Phillies are on. I'm sure that has something to do with the full house. It's clean. But best of all, the pizza is great! Like boardwalk pizza. While eating, there is a constant stream of people coming in to order take out. I will definitely be buying here again. read more

Solid slice of pie! These guys know how to make a pizza! I've only ordered by the slice and it's always been good. Took my family, who aren't even the biggest pizza eaters and they wanted to go back the next day. The pizza with cheese is pretty much already prepared, they put the toppings on it and heat it in their oven. You can customize it as long as they have the ingredients. Always seems to be fresh as well. Would recommend and will be back! Very affordable and large slices. read more

I grew up eating here when I was a little boy. I was born in 1979 and I remember eating pizza here since the early 80s. I moved away and I've been dreaming about it ever cents. I was lucky enough to make my way back and get to experience my favorite pizza! This place was rated high on Yelp so my party of three came here after we got water ice from a place close by. Ordered a cheese steak hoagie with cheese fries and a drink at the counter. The guy at the counter wasn't very welcoming- no hello nothing, okay whatever maybe the food will be worth the awkward unwanted entrance in the pizza shop. My friends ordered a pepperoni pizza and got themselves sodas as well. The cheese steak was really delicious but had way too much lettuce- was a bit lacking on the portion of steak actually on it though- but I guess not bad for the price. The cheese fries were well done and crispy and had a great taste. The pepperoni pizza was just okay- the crust had a gummy taste and was a bit hard to chew- made it feel like it was sticking to my teeth when I chewed. I was really hoping yo walk out satisfied since the yelp had such good reviews- but maybe I came in an off day- or maybe my taste buds are different then others on this page. Good food and reasonable prices. However, today, when I was there today (my 2nd time there after not being there for 5 months), when I asked the Manager where the straws were, he responded with 2 ways, he just pointed from a place behind me. When I suggested, maybe he consider put the straws in a place where customers could more easily find it, he then very rudely said to me, " he did not need customers to "complain" (verbally) so much. I responded that it was impolite to say, the words "Complaining customers" to customers whom could pass the word on to other people, that this Manager liked to call customers as "complaining customers" who make suggestions as customers. This Manager only then apologized for his wording, but I did not take it, he was that genuine, about his apology. I prefer places whom put the customers and service to customers, first and not "second." read more

When a family has been in the same business at the same location for 40 years, they must be doing something right. Pizza Star is a traditional pizza parlor. They do pizza, steaks and related goodies, and that is all. No pasta. No dinners. Nothing fancy. Just old style pie and sandwiches in a double wide storefront on Woerner Avenue, Levittown, PA. If you know this commercial strip, you are aware it is not the most attractive bit of design and construction every created. Signage can't be seen from the main roads, and even the street seems more like an alleyway between New Falls Road and Emilie Road. But, if you are in the mood for a throwback Italian experience, Pizza Star is the joint for you. Ordering is at the counter, and table service is provided by the kitchen staff. No waitresses here. Just find a table and settle in. The HDTV high on the front wall will keep you informed or entertained. I went with their eggplant parmesan sub. There was only one size available - large, but the price was about the same as for a torpedo half the size. Hard to beat. When delivered to my seat, it looked great. Overloaded with melanzone - breaded thin slices, sautéed in olive oil and covered in mozza and their home brewed red sauce. The roll was first rate, too; brought to highlife with the final bronzing in the oven. Taste was very good, although the golden fried discs were perhaps a little too oily from their moment in the hot sun. Not a biggie, but it would have been near excellent had the oil been absorbed off before the sandwich was finished. The Star is yet another strong find in this part of Lower Bucks. No doubt I will return to sample the steaks and pizza when I find myself hungry in this sector of the universe. read more

I had high hopes for this place based on the Yelp reviews but was underwhelmed with my visit. We were helped right away-placed our order at he counter and took a seat at an empty table waiting for our food. We ordered a cheesesteak, cheese fries and a large pepperoni pizza . The steak was very good and the fries were good too. True pizza was another story. To me, the crust was very thick and bland and tasted more like a cracker than pizza crust. The pepperoni had a strange after taste as well. I would visit again but I definitely would avoid the pepperoni pizza-which is unfortunate considering this is my go to item at pizza places. read more

Pizza Star is the only full service Italian restaurant in Columbiana and consistently Leaves orders off and refuses to deliver less than the 7 miles as advertised the staff is rude and wants to have Facebook brawls with patrons. This place cannot handle a large flow of customers. Went there after the hurricane 8/4 since many other places were closed. Apparently a lot of people had the same idea however staff seemed very overwhelmed and left a lot of people standing around. No interaction with customers and just left us staring at them. They never gave a number over the phone yet they kept calling out numbers and seemed upset that we didn't have a number and had to repeat what he ordered. Pizza was not the best pizza I ever had. I am giving them the title of best pizza in lower bucks. I love their pizza. Sauce and cheese is perfect. BUT I only adore their plain pizza. I find when I get toppings they put WAY too much to the point it makes the pizza soggy and heavy. Weird, huh, I'm complaining about excess food they are giving away but there needs to be balance. They are a no frills pizza place. Just the basics. I think their cheesesteaks are okay - had better. Chicken fingers aren't bad. But I'm just in love with their plain pizza. Interior could be updated its been like that forever but it does not negate how fantastic their pizza is. Gentlemen behind the counter are great...not as great as their plain pizza but still! Their prices are a little high compared to pizza places (especially in a strip mall like they are in) BUT their plain pizza is fantastic. Worst Sicilian pizza I have ever had in my life. The crust was flat but not over-cooked. Normally Sicilian has some dough in it and is not flat. Clearly they removed the dough from the refrigeration and did not let it rise properly before using it, which is why it was flat and tasteless. The top of the pie was a gelottenous pool of canned sauce with simulated motzerella cheese. It tasted just like it sounds. Simply stated, it was rushed and sloppy. When ordering sausage pizza, the sausage isn't the typical crumbly, ground-up kind (deliciously greasy with emphasis on fennel seed) but a dry, less flavorful chipped version (like dry chipped beef, if you will). Yet another flaw, is more often that not, the bottom of the crust will be burnt either due to a faulty oven or the workers juggling through orders from their many customers. They have decent plain thin crust pizza. They have been in business for decades so there is something to be said about this restaurant--they have to be doing something right after all! When coming here you see a lot of the same employees, and it is clearly a family run business. The inside eating area is a bit on the smaller side but convenient if you want to come here for a quick bite to eat. As of now, their pizza slices are pretty cheap compared to other places around Levittown. They also have a smaller selection of other food options, but they are of a lot better quality then some other places I have been to.
