The past several times I have gotten food at Five Guys, my burger patties were smashed flatter than pancakes, they were bland, the toppings were not good as they were wilted small pieces of lettuce, and the condiments were almost non-existent. The wait was ridiculous because the workers were not doing their jobs as much as they were goofing off laughing or complaining. They half-listened to orders and kept asking for them repeatedly because they were too busy goofing off with people behind them while they were taking them so it kept getting rung up wrong. When the order came, the food had been thrown into the bag spilling the badly loosely wrapped burgers. The whole ordered but one burger was ruined! The fries were overly cooked and gross. The salt was not there at all. It tasted like burnt cardboard. They were all over the bag on top of the spilled burger pieces and they had just gotten tossed in there after being in the fryer so the grease in them dripped all over and soaked into the burgers. It not the only experience like that. Unfortunately, we have had several. At times, some of the staff wraked of pot too. This was a real problem for me because I have a severe allergy to that. I had to lay laid out for a whole day after due to the exposure while waiting for our food. It was horrible. The bag and food smelled like it too! We couldn't eat it. I realized it when we got home and had to throw it out in the garage.

All that goodness is pressed between a toasted sub roll (I choose, wheat). I live about a mile and a half from the Firehouse and when I got home, it was still toasty warm. I've never made a combo, but I like that they have Miss Vicki's as a choice of chips. They also, have the typical Lay's potato chips, too. However I have come to know this location very well, as the staff is always so friendly and their service is always quick. This is a family owned business, it often reminds me of the old TV show cheers, where everybody knows your name. The food is always fresh and tasty. They offer daily specials throughout the week, and also offer happy hour. I love their cheeseburger with fries and a side of Nacho cheese typically but on occasion I will venture out and try somthing different. Today I got a philly cheese steak, which was to die for.... no pun intended, with fries, which are crispy and full of taste, the inside is a nice, warm full of burst potato when you bite into it. However ski is a soda bottled and made right down the road in Breese at Excell, and it is so so good. It's a citrus soda, but made with real sugar cane. When I order mine I do half frozen/half regular ski. It is the perfect consistency. The soda doesn't get watered down with ice, and your slushie isn't all ice after drinking a few sips. Plus it lasts awhile. Another one of my personal favorites is Blueberry ski. All in all I highly recommend Dairy King to anyone, don't let a long line scare you, they move quick, and remember they're nothing like dairy queen. If you get lost, just look for the penguin trash cans. Or the little penguin signs, then you've made it. Oh and one more important note. They do take cards, but they charge a card fee.
