One of the first major stops is all the antique malls in Walnut, IA. The wife mentioned that she would like me to find a bakery that served food. I thought I was the hero finding Milk & Honey - a farm to table bakery. The restaurant is in an old Ford dealership building next to a jui jujitsu place. You have to order 1st up front and then wait for them to deliver your food. The good: An excellent place to people watch. Both the employees and clientele. Interesting enough quite a diverse clientele. I ordered the sausage breakfast sandwich with a side of home fries with cheese, peppers and onions recommended by the lady who took our order. A great recommendation. When our food arrived it was hot and good. The bad: My wife wanted to sit outside. I wished I took her suggestion. It was hotter inside than outside. We waited 45 minutes for OU order. You don't want to be around my wife when she is hot and hungry.

No greeting, very little eye to eye contact, no smile, lack of personality. Not everyone, but enough of them from my experience and observation to post this. If you've read any of my posts you know I have a very low tolerance for this sort of behavior. If Kevin & Amy are so proud of their restaurant, maybe they could tighten the reins a bit and train these young folk up with some BASIC customer service skills. Ok, I do believe in giving credit where credit is due. Tonight, Paige redeemed Culver's in Carroll. They have messed that up all but 2 times I've been there. A few times they even messed up the crust. I'm not sure how that's even possible. However, I let all that go. The reason they only get 2 stars is because of the attitude of the employees. Some of them don't really seem to be happy to be there. But my my most recent experience was my last. I won't be going back after dealing with the waiter I had. It was obvious he had no idea about anything in the menu. As a customer I had to explain things to him and he got irritated with me. After receiving my food, not once did he ever come back to check to see if everything was fine or if I needed anything until he saw I was done eating and then came over to put the ticket on my table. I looked over my ticket and noticed immediately I was overcharged. I went to the counter to get it fixed and pay and his response was "I don't know, that's what the charge is." I tell him it's not and to please look at the menu where it shows the prices. He says "well I can't change it." Yes, he absolutely could fix it; he chose not to. If he didn't know how he could have asked his supervisor instead of being rude about it. So, I paid the bill and left. It's not worth creating a scene or arguing over a few dollars. Apparently Pizza Hut needs it more than I do. It's the principle that all he had to do was look at the menu or even in his computer to see he was wrong and fix it, but he refused. Bad customer service to a very long time customer in spite of their past mistakes and who has family that have worked for this company (I mean the same franchise too) for a very long time.
