Last time I went to this LJS, I got the buffalo shrimp with a side of coleslaw, and those crunchy bit thingies and some hush puppies. Do I dare say it was really really good? Yes. The employees were really REALLY cool. Love those guys. It's also not blinding when you walk in. I hate restaurants with too bright lights. I'm not a little kid, but me and my older sister had fun messing around with the crayons and paper at the front. Oh, and the cheesecake? I LOVE cheesecake, and this one was no exception, I tried the chocolate one. Oh. My. Gosh. Overall, I love going here.

This is definitely not a Chinese hot pot restaurant. The head cook and bottle washer (I'm not…read morekidding!) didn't even know what a hot pot was, even though they've owned the place for years. I'm surprised that they didn't change the name. She told me that someone else had stopped recently thinking that it was a Chinese place. Seeing the pumpkin pie under Desserts on the sign as I entered was a clue. I thought "oh, what the heck!", and she said that she'd bring a menu to me in just a moment. There was only one person seated in the restaurant but it was possibly too early for many people. After a short delay, she arrived with the menu and asked what I wanted to drink. I ordered a sweet tea. Perusing the menu, I thought I'd try the meatloaf sandwich. That sounded like something typically Indiana. She was out of meatloaf. (As I learnt later, the walk-in cooler had been repaired but she had thrown out possibly spoiled food and was waiting for the cooler to become cooler.) I ordered the fish tail sandwich. Rather than just have a little rectangle mostly hidden by the bun, this was long enough to be seen quite well on each end. I bit off one end before taking the photo, so sorry about that. I also ordered seasoned fries. It took a little while, and a couple entered, so the woman in charge of it all had to multi-task. I wonder what happens if she's really busy. The food was good, although the seasoned fries could have used more seasoning. They seemed to have a layer of breading with mild paprika, when they should have had a mix of mild and spicy paprika. The food was prepared as well as you could expect, and it was obvious that she cared. She and her husband took time to talk, which was quite pleasant. They weren't intrusive but they seemed genuinely interested. She was definitely interested in what a hot pot was. Being between Quizno's and Mancino's, someone might miss the place, especially with the McDonald's drive-thru line into 30th Street. Shouldn't it wind in front of Kroger's instead? Geez. Of course, people could just avoid McDonald's and go to The Hot Pot Restaurant. Update 2013.09.24: I was in Connersville photographing cross country and stopped ahead of time. Tried the meat loaf sandwich and a taco. I wish the meat loaf had as much meat as it had loaf. It seemed a bit spongy. The taco was okay but it really didn't compel me, either.

I ordered a single cheese everything on it combo large. Got home, took the fries container out of the bag to find it barely half filled. I was so mad. For what it is expected to be, it isn't bad at all!…read more The restaurant is always clean, the staff are friendly, the drink selection is nice (for Pepsi produce...), and the food isn't objectionable. The only complaints I have are the ones that plague plenty of fast food joints: The menu rotates too often and favorite choices may not always be available. Also, custom orders may not always be done correctly (e.g., "hold the lettuce"). Other than that, it's a nice place to eat. Clean, friendly, nice ambience. I miss the music they played in the late 90s and early 00s though, as silly as that sounds.

They said they would make one with a different bread and I said that would be fine. When I went to get the sandwich out of the sack, there was a large glob of tarter sauce smeared on top of the wrapper. Opened the wrapper, the fish was cold, the cheese was just thrown on there, there was so much tarter sauce on the sandwich you couldn't taste anything else and causing the bun to be soggy and falling apart. It was a sloppy mess! I wasn't even given any napkins. I feel it was done intentionally. No one could be that bad at making a fish sandwich so horrible. I couldn't even eat it. I had also ordered a milkshake but wasn't given a straw to drink it with. I paid $10.00 for something I couldn't eat. I tried to call 3 times and it just kept ringing. They weren't even busy. Only two other cars when I was there. I'm not one to complain, but there was no sense in the inconsiderate person to give a sandwich like that to a customer. Makes Arby's look bad. I alway loved Arby's fish sandwiches, but this really spoiled it for me. I don't know if I even want to go back to this location. Very upsetting.

Mmm...mmm...toasty? Pretty much. I was in Cambridge City photographing a basketball tournament…read moreand stopped at the closed-for-a-wedding Hilltop Drive-In. Seeing all the choices in Cambridge City, I went to Connersville. I haven't been to a Quiznos since they closed the store in Richmond. Unlike Florida, there aren't many in Indiana or Ohio. This one was in a Shell station and convenience store where a Noble Roman's used to be, not unlike the Quiznos in Richmond. The staff were friendly and helpful, and wanted to do the best. They even asked multiple times if the food was good. I had a Classic Italian on Rosemary bread. I don't usually try different breads since I'm not in love with bread already. I'm sure it would be good for someone else but it brought back a memory of some rosemary-infused potato chips combination. I also got a small bowl (the small is more than a few spoonfuls but not much) of the broccoli cheese soup, which is good. I've had several recent experiences with Subway and I still find the meats and cheeses at Quiznos to be better but Subway has closed the gap quite a lot. The overall experience was so much better, even in a convenience store atmosphere. Tables could use more attention but there were several available and that's a plus.
