The batter was that perfect golden crisp where every bite had that little crunch, but the fish itself was flaky and melt-in-your-mouth soft. You know when something is fried just right and not heavy or greasy at all? That. And the tartar sauce?? Not your average situation. It had this fresh, almost elevated flavor that made everything even better. I was literally dipping every last bite like I didn't trust the plate not to disappear. But honestly, what made it even more special was the people. Every single staff member was so kind and welcoming, and the chef actually came out to talk with us. There's green beans, mashed potatoes, pan-fried chicken... just like you remember Grandma making them. In fact, this whole place kind of smells like Grandma's. Daughter loved the halibut with risotto. Hubby really enjoyed the boathouse burger--bacon jam was new for him but he loved it. Though the burger was messy--he definitely cleaned the plate.
