The restaurant was a lot more kitschy than I was expecting, which I loved. Our waitress had a wonderful energy. She was very knowledgeable about the menu. The menu had several unique items. I ordered a Scottish soda called IRN BRU. I love trying food and drinks from around the world. It tasted like an Orange Crush soda. Our waitress said they were known for their Cauliflower soup. It was cold outside so soup sounded perfect. I also got a pepper jack grilled cheese. The soup came in a huge bowl. The combo of the soup and grilled cheese was very filling. My friends ordered the sticky pudding. I had a bite and it was delicious. I cant believe it's taken me so long to eat here. I throughly enjoyed it and cant wait for my next road trip.

In fact it is my favorite restaurant of all time. Sunday we stopped again. I had the British chicken curry and the fatoush. It was amazing as usual. That fatoush is so refreshing! My wife had the pork chop which comes with these amazing mashed potatoes with mustard seasoning that will blow your mind. She can never finish because it's so much food, which is OK with me because I help her out some. My favorite way to eat this is to mix a little mashed potato, mustard and pork chop together into one delicious bite. We were too full for dessert, but the times that we had the dessert here were spectacular as well. Thank you to all the people that work at Paynes, please don't change anything, you are the best!

I recently tried Slap's Fish Market and sampled a little bit of everything--lobster roll, burrito,…read morecheesecake, and their lobster deviled eggs--and overall it was a really memorable experience. The service was very helpful deciding what to order. The setting was fun down town indanopolis feel. The lobster roll was definitely the standout. It was packed with fresh, flavorful lobster and had a nice balance of buttery richness without feeling too heavy. You can tell the seafood is high quality, which makes a huge difference. The lobster deviled eggs were super unique and honestly one of my favorite bites. Creamy, slightly tangy, and topped with lobster--it's not something you see everywhere, and they executed it really well. My husband tried the shrimp burrito, which was great for a seafood spot. It was hearty, well-seasoned, and filled generously. It didn't feel like an afterthought on the menu. To finish, the cheesecake was a great choice it was from the cheesecake factory is what the offered for my birthday smooth, rich, and just the right level of sweetness with a strawberry topping to end the meal without being overwhelming. Overall, Slap's Fish Market delivers on both creativity and quality. It's a great spot if you want fresh seafood with a few fun, unexpected twists. I'd definitely come back to try more of the menu.

Not gonna lie, my work group really likes coming here when we have lunch outings. My only problem?…read moreI very much dislike seafood to any capacity. Yet, I still eat here just fine. I feel like most seafood places will have vegetarian options by way of removing the fish from pasta dishes or salad, but it's also nice to know that you can get chicken as a substitute on most of these kinds of dishes, too. Granted, it's just like chicken tenders, but still good nonetheless. I really like their firecracker pasta, which is moderately spicy in my opinion. There's no particular fishy smell here, which is always a good sign that the seafood they serve here is freshly prepared. Our food always comes out quickly for lunch and we've been a group as large as 8 or 9. I do believe that ordering is mostly done online in their mass Ave location, though. I don't really seek out a place like Slapfish on my own (no offense at all, just not a seafood girlie!!), but I would assume that it's a rather popular establishment as they recently opened a fifth location in the greater Indy area. If I did like fish and such more, I'd probably be here on a more regular rotation.

There is a small parking lot plus street parking available. One interesting thing is the numerous old photos of Hamilton hanging on the walls. There is even one of the building back in the day! We ordered an Anna's pretzel with beer cheese and horse cheese as an appetizer. It was one of the best soft pretzels I've eaten! Large, warm and the 2 dipping sauces made a great accompaniment. We ordered a Reuben and fish and chips also. They were yummy as well. The bar tender/waitress was very attentive and pleasant. The prices are very moderate. I noticed they even offered lunch specials. I definitely plan on visiting again.

The waitress seemed helpful enough, though, as there's weren't many customers this early in the evening, she was too busy watching the Winter Olympics to give me more than the cursory attention needed to bring my food out and take my payment. But the food definitely made up for that. This is made-from-scratch creativity at its finest. I got the Reuben's Stones, expecting a fried fritter, but got a delicate, made-like-my-mamma-would pastry instead. It was soft and doughy inside, and jam-packed with corned beef. The fish in the fish and chips was huge, hot, and right out of the fryer. And the fries had to be made from scratch, because I've never seen that particular shape come out of a freezer bag: they looked cut naturally from the round, and were also hot and tasty. And the warm butter cake was as amazing as everyone said. Actually it's this small squat cake that looks like a muffin -- until you cut into it and realize it's soaked in syrup inside & absolutely delicious. The only disappointment were the green beans --- they were overcooked and mushy -- though maybe that's how English green beans are authentically cooked. Overall, though, my visit was a real adventure filled with authentic and delicious surprises. I will definitely be back to try more.

Cool place. Cool service. Good food. KBBA on tap. What more can you want?…read more I had the fish and chips. They use haddock, which is nice. The breading is yummy, and thin- not obnoxious. 9/10 as far as fish and chips go... lets face it, fish and chips is a 5/10 food, but this is really good fish and chips. Here's where it gets good. My friend ordered shepherds pie. I've had no interest in shepherds pie since the first time I tried it, but when they brought it out, it looked delicious, so I had to ask for a bite... and another one... and another one. She couldn't eat the whole thing, so we got a to-go box... which I stole and ate her leftovers, because this was a stonking good shepherds pie. So yeah.... had an outstanding serving of a mediocre food, and discovered that the first time I had shepherd's pie, it was garbage. Fun place, good food. I'll be back.

I looked at the…read morebusiness hours of according to the hours posted on yelp so I made it a point to be there at or after 11 AM. The place was busy as heck and it was a little challenging to find parking because it's part of a strip mall and other restaurants on the strip. Also need places for their customers to park. I found out when I got there that it turns out for St. Patrick's Day specifically they open at 8 AM instead of the normal 11 AM. Consequently, the entire restaurant was full, all seats were taken, even at the bar. And because they had Entertainment, starting at 9 AM. They started charging a five dollar cover charge. Not really a big deal when you consider they had a couple bins of live entertainment as well as a DJ who serviced the outdoor seating area later in the afternoon. At the entry table there were a couple T-shirt designs for sale at $20 each as well as free bead, necklaces, gold or green. I was told that at the very beginning at opening they also had little green hats, but I was too late for them. Browse around, everyone was having fun, talking and music was pretty loud, but it was a fun vibe. Eventually, I found a single little table in the outdoor seating area. It's included in some sort of Long tent assembly, which I think is a metal frame covered by a tarp or what almost looks like denim material. When you look across the bottom of the material all the way around the perimeter, you can see the wind blowing in there underneath. In the outdoor exterior seating portion, there were four of those tall large heating elements, but even though I was merely two or 3 feet away from one I only got a little bit of the heat from where I was seated. It was welcome, for sure, but wish I were warmer. Lol. Coincidentally, I also made the mistake of only come in with a hoodie. Again, I thought or assumed they were opening at 11 AM so I thought I'd easily find a spot inside. Also coincidentally it was cold as heck, so cold that sometimes when I talked, my teeth were chattering, and I could see my breath as I spoke The waitresses were great, and the ambience was pretty cool. They had a special St. Patrick's Day menu and from the drink menu, I ordered an Irish coffee, and part to stay warm, and something that was a 50/50 combination of two types of Guinness beer. The game plan to have a hot beverage along with a beer seemed like a good idea initially but then sometime during the meal I switched it so I was drinking the beer, faster than I was the Irish coffee, so the plan backfired when the Irish coffee soon cooled off. Lots of awesome stuff on the menu. I think a little of the pricey side, but I can look past that if I go for a special occasion. Although I wanted to order most everything on the menu, I ended up getting Irish eggrolls (I'm told it's hot seller), and corn, beef and cabbage (you know, because the St. Patrick's Day) both were delicious. I always trim off the pieces of fat off the outside of the slices of corned beef, which I must say were extremely lean, which I appreciate. The cabbage was delicious and I wish there was a lot more with it. And if I'm not mistaken, there was mashed potatoes along with it. Kind of shaped like an upside down bowl like they do in Asian restaurants. It had a delicious, homemade horseradish sauce, and I had to order an extra little cup of it on the side, so I had enough. The Irish eggrolls were delicious and kind of reminded me of a Reuben sandwich, just in eggroll form. The waitresses looked great in there uniforms and were real troopers considering how freaking cold the weather was. If I remember, one of them was wearing jean pants, while another was wearing warm leggings. Bad props to them for braving the weather to serve us people in the outdoor seating area. We appreciate you and your hard work! While seated outdoors, a woman came around and they were doing some kind of drawing that you could participate in. Something like, "win the pot ". Restrooms were fine. I can only speak for the men's room obviously since I went solo. Overall, a fun time. Live entertainment. I think they were supposed to be dancing girls, but I didn't see any. I think it was when I was focused on eating and staying warm. I did manage to catch a guy doing bagpipes though. That was cool. I don't know if she worked for the restaurant/pub, but there was a woman going around offering these little adjustable rings to all the women around the restaurant. That was a cool touch. They look like little gemstones. A definite recommend!
