Timing is Everything!!!…read more I just happened to stop in at the Chop Shop in Downtown Butler, PA, during a recent Heatwave. As my luck would have it, I quickly discovered that this restaurant does not have air conditioning. I'm not sure if it was just offline or if it is permanent; however, be warned!! The restaurant had children and elderly people seated, so I couldn't wimp out and go somewhere else. The Chop SHop is a downtown Butler must-try, and it is three concepts rolled into one. The Chop Shop is a vintage-style eatery serving sandwiches, milkshakes, burgers, vegetarian fare and grilled meats. I ordered their specialty milkshake, which is a loaded milkshake that comes with everything thrown into one Milkshake. Although it was a perfect drink for a heatwave, my milkshake quickly melted due to the heat in the restaurant. For the main course, I ordered the Mixed Grill, which had grilled elk tenderloin, smoked quail, caramelized bacon brussels sprouts, dauphinoise potatoes and a blackberry brandy demi-glaze. The food was awesome, and those potatoes were crazy-good. The Elk was cooked to medium as I ordered, and the quail was tender and juicy. Overall, a good but hot dining experience. The Chop Shop has great food, great service, and one day may serve alcohol in the restaurant, but for now, their food and drinks can be enjoyed without it.

Instead of responding professionally, the cook snapped at him and said, "You're talking to me? Don't ever yell back here again?" -- even though he wasn't yelling at all. After that, she completely ignored him for the rest of the time. Watching an elderly customer be spoken to that way was upsetting and uncomfortable. Regardless of how busy or slow it is, there's no excuse for treating customers with that level of disrespect. Unfortunately, because of this interaction, I won't be returning.

Chili dog - 3.5 stars - My husband described this chili dog as "fine," and he ate all of it. Egg salad sandwich - 4 stars - The bread was toasted and not soggy. The egg salad was eggy and tasty. Macaroni salad - 3.5 stars - This salad contained noodles, carrots, celery, scallions, and mayonnaise. I liked it. Overall, the burgers and other foods were not the best that I have ever eaten, but they were good, and the prices were reasonable.

Now, Im not 100% sure and don't want to point fingers, but Im pretty sure the women taking the order were hitting on him while I was standing right next to him. As they took our order, they kept giggling and glancing at each other, as well as eyeing him.
