I got the basic burger. It was really good. The bun was the icing on the cake for because it was quality bread. Most burger places prioritize the meat and the bun is soggy or dry and falls apart. The beef quality was grade A. Juicy, and flavorful. The server I had was great. She continued to monitor if I needed anything and even helped me to understand the name lol "Bach" as in Bachelor. I got the fries and got the truffle sauce which was amazing. I absolutely love truffle and truffle fries, but since the truffle fries were kinda pricey by themselves, the truffle sauce was nice substitute without spending $5 on just the half order of truffle fries. I would definitely come back. And for the price of the entire meal, it was only like $15, which is great considering the area and the quality. read more

In short: creativity is better than their execution. My order: North Lamb with fries and truffle aioli. Also got a kiwi cocktail. North lamb: creative lamburger. Difficult to eat, was too "slippery". Flavour was 7/10. Bun wasn't it. Seemed to be flattened. The patty itself was ultra flat, not very juicy. The amount of "wet" ingredients with the lettuce made it just so hard to enjoy. Kiwi cocktail: tasty and unique. 8/10, the crushed ice made it difficult to enjoy all the tasty kiwi at the bottom. Fries: 3/10. Pass on these. Not crispy, quite flimsy. Aioli was good but closer to 5/10. Kinda greasey too. Ambiance: I ate outside, which was awesome. A nice area and plenty of outdoor seating. Service was friendly and fast. Other: I definitely think it has potential, however I don't think it's the "best burger in the US".... In fact I don't even think it's the best burger in VA. read more

My husband and I came here for dinner and there was a wait to sit outside so we decided to sit inside since it would be faster. Our waitress was nice. The beer my husband ordered they didn't have so he ordered another one and he said it was good. For dinner he got the hangover burger and he said it was good. I asked if I could make my own and the waitress said yes, so I asked for bacon, lettuce, tomato, bacon, and a fried egg on mine. The food came out pretty quick but they forgot my fried egg and bacon and it took 20 minutes to get someone's attention who wasn't even our waitress and then another 15 minutes waiting for the bacon and fried egg to come. Of course by then the burger was cold but I was too hungry to wait longer for them to reheat it by the time the bacon and egg came out. When we got our receipt our waitress double charged the bacon and my husband's original beer he couldn't get since they were out. They fixed it but still. Not impressed by the service. The fries were good though. read more

I've been here 3 times and each time I've been pleased with my meal. Pros: - I've sat at the bar every time. The usual bartender (I don't remember his name) is always friendly and attentive. - Tuesday beer specials of $3.....can't beat that (unless it was $2.99 or less) - Always left full. - Their tuna burger was one of my favorites from there. Cons: - none to mention from my experience Overall: If you're looking for a good meal/burger I'd definitely give this place a try. There's a lot of options out there but I don't think you'll go wrong here. read more

I got the basic burger and I would have rather gone to 5 Guys. The burger here was like the ones that you can buy at Sam's in the freezer section. Zack was our waiter and he was great. Nice location of a restaurant; they have outdoor and indoor seating with a big parking lot behind the restaurant. The place was fairly busy when I went, yet service was still very good! Pulled pork nachos were great. The avocado cream was actually very good. It added a new unique flavor in addition to your typical Queso and tomato nachos. Pulled pork was sweet and quite soft. Quite filling of a starter for two people fyi. Ordered the Original burger, tried both West Coast and Original, and I would probably give it to the Original. Much more flavorful; the tomatoes, mayo, and dill pickle add a nice, kind of clean, subtle flavor to the heavy burger. Again, burgers are pretty heavy here, so it was nice to have the free side of salad that comes with. Impressed with the large assortment of sauces they have here for fries, not quite impressed with the quality of their fries: warm fries that were soggy (I would assume this isn't a common occurrence?). Would recommend read more

4 burgers, 1 app and 1 sangria was $98. That's far too much money for meh burgers. The meat (beef) tasted kinda weird. Excellent fries! Our server was nice, clearly baked but very sweet. It's in a richie rich shopping plaza, so I guess you're paying for the location. We wouldn't go back. read more

This is a local c'ville favorite of ours. We've eaten here three times and its always good. We went out on a limb this past Sunday and tried the lamb burgers. Man, they were good. I couldn't eat the whole thing. The fries are addictive. You've been warned. They have a good selection of draft beers. I always go for the IPA's. During the warmer months, its nice to sit on the patio. Traffic around this place can be a bit crazy. Just take a breath and relax. This place has charm, good service, good quality food. Stopped in with friend one weeknight for dinner... they weren't very busy. Our server was great, very friendly, engaging, and helpful. They have a very interesting menu, loaded with lots of interesting burgers and fries. They make many sauces in-house and they have a large selection of them. The fries were some of the best I've had in a very long time. The dipping sauces were on the bland side though - we tried cilantro and jalapeño remoulade and both tasted more like bland mayo than the flavors they were supposed to resemble. We also tried their spicy sautéed shrimp and they had a nice spice, but the shrimp was slightly over-cooked. The miso potato salad I got with my burger had an interesting concept, but unfortunately the potatoes were under-cooked. My burger, the Original was really good. The meat was flavorful and the temp it was cooked to was spot-on. The toppings were decent, but the bun, specifically the heel was too thin and it was difficult to pick up and eat, so I ended up using a fork & knife to finish half of it. Overall, I really did enjoy the food and service and would return. read more

I didn't have dinner planned and I was craving a burger, so when picking up my husband from work, I suggested the ol' Burger Bach (pronounced "batch"?! biggest takeaway from this visit). Our service, burgers, and meal overall was really great this time. My burger came cooked to perfection and really hit the spot. The fries are always delicious, but I'm again seriously thankful for the super fresh and crisp side salads which are simply a bed of greens with a light vinaigrette dressing. Mmm, makes you feel like you're getting a couple health points back. Our son's kid's meal burger came with a side of fries instead of our asked for side of fruit, but they let us keep the extra fries (bonus!) and the fruit cup was one of the best I've ever seen offered as a kids meal snack, including kiwi, berries, oranges, and apple slices. Our kiddo ate it down, plus he loved his simple cheeseburger. A good deal for a kids meal. I enjoy how Burger Bach is committed to using good ingredients and I didn't realize the chain was so small, only three regional locations, two near RVA and this one in Cville. Cool. read more

Great Burger, Great Service. We needed a seating of 6. The manager was so accommodating that he moved an entire extra table outside so that we could sit. Fancy that! The other servers were equally as accommodating. We always had cold water to assist with our 90 degrees outside dinner. The ketchup is a must try. I have never recommended KETCHUP anywhere before, yet, here we are. They have a plethora of other sauces I will need to return and try. Their house sauce was okay, but I was more privy to their garlic aioli. I bought their burger of the month: The Mango Pepper Party. Mango salsa, lettuce, bacon, and chipotle cilantro Sauce blended well into the flavor of the burger. Overall, I think you would enjoy this quaint burger joint. It has a great location, especially during outdoors events on the lawn. Just be prepared to eat salad with your burger because fries are bought extra and are shared at the table (a large was enough for 6 people). read more

Came here via a gift card from family. First thing that stood out is the service. I don't have high standards in that regard, but it was nice to see everyone smiling and welcoming. We started off with the large fries with garlic aioli and original sauces. Both of us preferred the garlic aioli, as it felt like the original was ketchup mixed with another sauce. I had the North Lamb burger, which tasted ok but with such a small patty I'm not quite sure why they asked whether I preferred pink or no pink. Very hard to get pink on a thin patty unless it's raw. Think I'll go with a regular burger next time. Overall, I'm glad we tried Burger Bach, but of note is that it's on the pricier side, so I'm glad we had a gift card. Still have some left over so we'll be back. read more

Stopped by for just a quick drink and snack before meeting up with friends. The restaurant was packed but staff still took time to make sure that we were taken care of. There was only one seat left at the bar but they ran and grabbed a second, even though we were fine with just one seat. We got fries so we could start working our way through the sauces. The blueberry bbq was sweet and delicious but not very bbq-y. I loved the tzatzki. The smoked old fashioned was a little sweet but the kiwi was amazing! I will definitely return to try more fry sauces and even eat a whole meal. read more

Carry out Review! After being disappointed at another place ( and famished), I took a chance and ordered a Mediterranean salad to go from Burger Bach. We were in the area to shop at LL Bean. This restaurant is located in an upscale shopping center with retail shops such as Bluemercury, Kendra Scott, Sephora, Brooks Brothers...you get the picture. They have a small outdoor patio for restaurant diners. Plus, there a bonus for outdoor diners--they are adjacent to a large open space with a few picnic tables where you can eat your carry out. There is parallel street parking plus ample parking behind the buildings. We called to place the order. The staffer was friendly and told us it would be ready in 5 mins. We waited in the car. Four minutes later I sent the hubby inside. After about 10 minutes he emerged. So the food took about 10 minutes longer than they quoted. One star removed. Carry out was packed well. Due to the chilly temps, I ate in our rolling dining hall (car). The salad was great-plentiful and the right mix of greens and toppings. Feta was not overpowering. The balsamic was very yummy, just sweet enough. The "bread" was like a parma cheese crisp, which was a nice touch without being heavy. I was so hungry I forgot to snap a pic. Just know it was tasty! The patio area looked clean. Nice vintage "Muzak" was playing throughout. Yes, we would come again and I'd try one of their famous burgers lettuce wrap style. read more

just wanted a quick burger and sad to say it didn't happen. this started out great with manager grabbing me a water and ginger ale but quickly this experience went down hill. while trying to get someones attention to order was a challenge even though i was at the bar. finally i got the servers attention and my order was placed. watching the manager exchange plates with the kitchen trying to organize orders. im concerned yup this not going to end well. i got the cold end of a burger and a soggy bun, but the fries were hot and good. the manager gave me 4.98 off for the cold burger and unmelted cheese. cold food and a cold experience. definitely a little training is in order. for a 25 lunch I will pass. read more

Taking one more star off of my review. The staff here really need to get it together. I brought my elderly friend out for a burger tonight. We had a coupon, which they somewhat honored... our meal should have been about $10 less than the total. I asked about it, and they redid the bill and took $1.00 more dollar off... hmm. That aside, the server was friendly but very inattentive. Another server came along and got drink refills for us, etc. The food was SO SO SLOOOOWWW. we waited a good 30 minutes for 2 burgers. The restaurant wasn't that crowded. The place is nice and clean in the eating area, but the bathrooms smelled and had urine all over the toilets and floor. Eeew. I was really looking forward to trying Burger Bach but unfortunately I was disappointed. The fries were just ok, not anything special (though the sauces we tried were very tasty, I'd like them with other fries). The burgers lacked a wow factor, I honestly grilled tastier burgers the day before at home. The burgers were also too big in my opinion. I did like the salad that comes with the burger though. I might come back and try some other dishes but overall I just felt gross after eating here, like there was a lot of excess grease in the food. That being said our server was lovely and very knowledgeable about allergies. She checked with the kitchen about some dairy and gluten questions we had. If it wasn't for the stellar service I wouldn't consider coming back to try other foods. read more

Excellent burger and terrific choices for local beers. Service was good, too. I chose a burger with bacon and melty cheese and chopped onion and it was excellent. Well assembled and easy to eat if drippy from the delicious juices. Really good flavor of the beef here. Burgers all come with a side salad which is... different. I also ordered a small sized side of their excellent fries. Nice big pieces and they come with a pot of dressing on the side. Odd but they offer their organic ketchup. That's what caused me to notice the lack of ketchup on the table. So I chose the tzatziki sauce and that was very good. I ate every single one of these fries. Good choices in beer. Sure, the usual macros but I found spotted local options and got one from somewhere nearby in Virginia. Yum. read more

My best move here was to order coffee. With REAL CREAM!! YES! A+++ on the coffee. It was 3 pm, happy hour had just started. It was a perfect quiet place to sit, have a coffee and wait for my colleague to drive in from out of town. My mistake was ordering the nachos. Picture the layers as I describe them to you: way too many chips, a scoop of unseasoned ground beef, shredded lettuce, diced tomato and cucumber, topped off with a messy piping of tzaziki that was too thick to hold it together (see my photos). It needed some cheese, chili, beans, something to make it less dry and unappetizing. I had a few bites and gave up. Oh well. The Bach was clean, pleasant, and perfect for a mid-day coffee. And service was terrific. I'll come back for a coffee sometime. read more

It's a fine burger on par with Citizen Burger-- minus the long wait, and charm of a mid-mall outdoor seat or noisy indoor. The space is open, booths, barstools and and bartender who spontaneously poured some brew samples to encourage somethings different or new- an unexpected kindness that marks an evening. Save the circumferential outdoor seats for a desperate summer day. So, like all upscale hamburgers, you've got 'styles', and 'favorites', and a list of parts from which to assemble your own meat masterpiece. It's hardly unique but it does have all that's needed. And the 'New Zealand beef or lamb'? The kiwi sheep and cousin cows still moo and maaa as in the albermarle outback. Can't say the taste is distinguishable. Perhaps it's just special, like 'real Italian Silk' must surely be , er from italian speaking silkworms? 'Bungie sheep' next? Gamey and stringy? So...? It's a fine burger. Been back to Bach. And again. And as the pickings get slimmer at Stonefield, and the peckish, prominent, Bach's up on the list read more

We accidentally found this spot on our way through town. It was so good! They have a great menu with unique combinations. We ordered one beef burger and one lamb burger - both were cooked perfectly, juicy, with great toppings that we never would have come up with ourselves. Don't know what possessed me to give burger Bach another try, knowing that the Richmond locations are subpar, but here I am writing this review. Decent space, with a nice wraparound outdoor patio. But like the other BB's, the food is terrible. Not completely inedible, so I think 2 stars is fair. Lamb nachos should not be on the menu. This is mostly chips with a tzaziki drizzle and chopped iceberg on top. Very few banana peppers, chunks of feta, and ground lamb which barely has any flavor. Yet they find a way to charge $12 or something preposterous. A very disappointing dish. The fries are good, and the only thing I liked. However, the whole paying $1 for a dipping sauce is ridiculous. A large serving of fries at $8 should come with sauce. Pesto aioli and chipotle cilantro were both good, jalapeño remoulade lacked flavor. The burgers are bad. I wish I had gone to fiveguys instead. They are small, mostly bread, and I'd argue that they don't season the meat - you literally lose it if you get a burger with any toppings. We tried two different lamb burgers - similar to the nachos, you can barely tell that the meat is actually lamb. It is so lacking in flavor it's remarkable. My burger was basically a mushy mushroom bun with some blue cheese. I'm not sure how this place is growing/expanding, let alone staying in business. Don't go here if you like burgers. Do go here if you like overpaying for mediocre meals. read more

First lunch with my toddler being able to order and sit still the entire meal! Tons of parking in the back of the restaurant and I was pleasantly surprised when we walked in. Thought it was going to be more of a order at the counter type of place but it's a great bar and restaurant! We were greeted and sat right away with crayons, paper, menus and booster seat. She was also our server and came over with waters for us both. Fantastic service and food came out pretty quickly. I ordered a beer since it was $3 for all drafts (awesome!) and it came out very quickly. You order your burger either pink or no pink which makes it tough to get it the way you want it cooked I think. Mine was overdone but "no pink"as I requested. Each burger comes with a side salad with fresh trend and a yummy vinaigrette already tossed into it. Fries are extra but we got them to try. You also get one sauce to choose from along with your ketchup then sauces are more $ if you want more. Honey mustard was almost Mayo based so that was strange but it did taste good. Ketchup was chunky which is not my favorite but also good. I needed it on my burger since it was a bit dry even with lettuce, tomato, cheese and bacon. Cheese and bacon were great but I was really looking forward to a juicy burger but this was not it. I'll be back again to try something else as the service was amazing! read more
