Unfortunately another bad review coming on the heels of my previous bad review. I received two gift cards to Buona beef for Christmas. Stopped by today to use them for lunch only to find out they will not allow me to use them because they are not good until January 1, 2021. That is in 11 hours. Why would you sell someone gift cards that can not be used at the buyers discretion? Told them to keep their gift cards, and their food, I will not be back, Nor will I buy any of your food at any baseball games I attend. Amazing! We tried Buona Beef from the recommendation of a friend, and we're so glad we did! We tried the beefs as well as the hot dog, and wow-o-wow. Both were amazing. I got the 7" beef baptized (completely submerged in gravy) with sweet and hot peppers and the hot dog. The hot dog was one of the top three hot dogs I've EVER had. Downgraded a star, unfortunately. Two times now, we've gotten the wrong orders from this Buona beef. If you're visiting them during peak times, always check that you are getting the correct order and that no items are missing.With the open kitchen concept, I've always trusted that the person checking the orders before having them go out was accurately checking them. That hasn't proven to be the case. Also, there was a lot of confusion as to who was picking up orders 'to go' and who was picking up 'pre-ordered' orders made in advance over the phone or though the app, I guess? If there's supposed to be a separate waiting area for different sorts of orders, they really should make that clear. The food we did get was pretty good, though, so this isn't a complete deal breaker. Just a word of caution. read more

Had takeout for the family. One 10" beef which was baptized (their word for fully submerged in gravy), one 5" that was dipped (dips the ends only) and a beef and sausage bowl. Everything was hot and cooked well. However the beef needed to sit in the juice/gravy longer. Tasted too fresh like they just refilled the pan. Other than that it was awesome. I will NEVER go there again. I got violently ill from food poisoning after eating a beef sandwich there this weekend. It was pretty clear within a few hours that eating that beef was a mistake. Even a thought back to the taste made me sick. When we called the manager to let them know that the food made me ill, he said, "we haven't heard anyone else have that complaint, so let me take your number down." No call back, no nothing. First and foremost, I always enjoy the quality of the food served here at the Algonquin's Buona! Add the very courteous service of the employees and you have a very good dining experience. But I want to share another experience. While going through the Drive-Thru, and no one behind me, I had a moment to chat with a Buona employee. (Being a supervisor of many employees in my own job, I enjoy listening and engaging with employees in all businesses.). I asked her how long she worked for Buona, and she replied 1.5 years. I asked her how she enjoyed it? She said she really enjoyed her job and more so, working with her fellow teammates. They all get along very well and management is also very supportive of their employees, making it a very nice work environment. We chatted a little more, but the point being, how refreshing to hear of satisfied employees that really enjoy their workplace and their management team, particularly of a fast food workplace which doesn't normally achieve that type of feedback. My compliments to the business owner and team management! I won't share the employee's name publicly, but Buona is lucky to employ her. That is worth more than any advertisement! Good food. Okay Service. So we ordered via phone and picked up so unfortunately if the service is better inside I am not sure but that was not the experience I go in the drive thru. However it is very nice that we were able to call the order in and either pick it up inside or in the drive thru. The food itself, I found very well. Our whole order included: the bouna way Italian beef (5"), the Italian beef - dipped (5"), and the Classic Cobb Salad with grilled chicken added. Very tasty. Another great Italian Beef Restaurant that you should visit before leaving town. Normally we just go to Portillo's but this location is much closer (we did visit both Buona and Portillo's). I would say that both places are excellent and have very tasty Italian beef sandwiches. Buona has a much newer and brighter atmosphere than Portillo's. There was a very heavy line out the door from the time we arrived until we left. The line went very fast and the food arrived very quickly. Order Buona Beef 10", Baptized (the sandwich is dunked in the gravy, which is like Au Jus) We made it a Value meal and received French fries and a drink There was a nice selection of pop, but I went right for the tea. There were 3 different types of tea, and I chose the Peach Pekoe. A very nice peach tea. Our food was just as good as Portillo's and basically the same price. read more

As far as Italian beefs go, this place had Portillo's beat! This new location has excellent service and a clean dining room. The daily specials are a killer value! On Tuesday evenings, kids meals are $2! Thursday's are $6 pizzas! The only issue I see, is the capacity of the dining area. It's not uncommon to have to wait for a table. read more

Updated Review: I had their Reuben today. The good: Bread was really crispy and the Russian wasn't too heavy. The bad: it was light on the corned beef, in places it was no meat. For a $7 sandwich I expected more. My first time at Buona Beef, ever. The beef sandwiches are delicious and the sweet peppers actually have seasonings and flavor instead of being flavorless and steamed. The rigatoni marinara was very good. My companion had the beef and sausage combo sandwich and loved it. Buona has a great Giardinera. Try the chicken power bowl. Marinated and balsamic vinaigrette, it's filling and delicious. We always have great service. Buona will bend over backwards to make sure you are pleased. One complaint. Please get the large sized cannolis back! This place was located in close vicinity to my hotel. I saw it a couple of times and made a mental note that i wanted to check it out. I looked up the menu and decided that I wanted to stop by for lunch. They are famous for their Italian beef but I decided on the salmon sandwich on my first visit. I was really good, but the salmon was rather small compared to the bread. Other than the lack of meat to bread ratio, it was really good. I loved the mayo that came on it and I added red onion and avocado. The roll that it was on was really good. They had us pull into spaces and brought our food to us. My order was incorrect at first but they quickly realized the mistake and gave me mine. Later on that evening I went back for dinner to try to italian beef and I wasn't impressed at all. The meat was dry and lacked flavor the fries were horrid, thus the reason for 3 stars. I would however, go back for the salmon sandwich it was solid. read more

Came here with my mom and sister for the first time today. Service and food was awesome! Everything was fresh with great flavor, and the kitchen was on their game. Not a long wait at all and everyone was very friendly. I was also very impressed with the manager there. Not only was he friendly, but I noticed how attentive he was to the customers, how he was not just supervising his employees but was also working other stations. I also overheard him encouraging his employees and giving positive words like "good job" and "well done" to his staff. Very disappointed! One of the reasons I was so happy to move into the Algonquin area was because there was a Buona near by but, they took the best sandwich off the menu. The Tuna Genovese was the very best sandwich and no other fast food or regular restaurant serves a better tasting sandwich than the Tuna Genovese. Why Buona, Why? Another point on the staff.... they have always been helpful, courteous and generally pleasant... this is not always the case at restaurants and it is noticed and appreciated.
