I reviewed Tap House Grill last year but I felt the need to update my review after a fantastic lunch here earlier this month. Met my friend here for her birthday lunch (same friend from my last review!). It was a beautiful day so we sat outside on the patio. It was soooo nice. I ordered a flat bread pizza thingy (Chicago Prime)... it was delicious! My friend ordered a salad; she raved about it. The reason for this review isn't the great table or the delicious food... it's the service. Josh waited on us and he was AMAZING. I think he was working the bar, the patio and the entire restaurant. He checked on us throughout our meal, kept our drinks filled and was an all around wonderful person to talk to. One hundred stars for Josh! Thanks for making our afternoon! read more

We came for the soft opening and loved it. They have a really nice beer menu but we stuck with waters tonight. They have your standard lite beers, etc. but they also have some good craft beers. He has some very good suggestions if you are overwhelmed with the big menu (digital for now). Appetizers, soup and salad, tacos, burgers, wraps, bowls, entrees, dessert, and a full alcohol menu. Ginger Soy Shrimp Bowl (on a plate): Shrimp sautéed in a ginger soy topped with cucumber, carrot, crunchy garbanzo beans, onion and mixed greens with mango salsa. Crispy Shrimp Tacos: Rock shrimp tacos garnished with lime-marinated cabbage, chipotle aioli & corn salsa. The unfortunate reality of this experience is that two stars are generous for the service and quality of environment at Tap House. When my wife and I walked in we were greeted by three unmasked individuals. The standard is still to be masked indoors at all times. With about half of the seating area used we were asked to sit right by the entrance. We kindly asked to be placed at a different table (there were at least ten options) and were told yes with a heavy eye roll from the hostess. Once seated we were greeted by a waiter that had his mask below his chin. When we asked for a moment to look at the menu he didn't come back for ten minutes. We asked other waitresses if we could order and they walked by saying it wasn't their table with no effort to find our waiter. My wife got the pesto chicken wrap and I the Buffalo chicken wrap. Both were actually pretty good. As we sat eating, most individuals, despite a sign saying masks required, walked in without masks. Regardless of what an individual believes the importance of mask wearing is/is not, if there is a sign, you'd think the restaurant would uphold the expectation or simply remove the sign. Once COVID clears up, I don't know that we'll be going back. Average to slightly above food doesn't come close to making up for the poor service and attitudes of the employees. read more

The layout of the place is weird, it kind of feels like a diner in the booth section (which isn't a good thing). I would recommend sitting in the high top/ bar area. For a place that has tacos, they should have a generic margarita on their drink menu. There was too much coleslaw on the tacos, completely took over the taste of the tacos. They do have a few vegetarian options, which I appreciate. They definitely have some room to grow! read more

My salmon was good but could have used some flavor outside of the glaze. The service was rough. The place was about 25% full and staff kept walking by us. In the first few minutes of being there with a party of 8, the waitress was very accommodating.....taking our drink order, getting our drinks quickly, and taking our orders. A crowd of 30ish people showed up and after almost 45 minutes the waitress had not come back to our table. A member of our party asked the bartender where our food was, and was told that our food had been sitting under the warmers for more than 15 minutes, but she couldn't bring it out because that is the waitress's job; the waitress would be back and bringing our food after she finished with the big group's orders. So if you are looking for a restaurant with terrible service and employees that don't work as a team to create a pleasurable dining experience, this is the place for you. Went to lunch on a Saturday with my daughter. Seemed like they were lacking servers. Service was a little slow. We ordered the cheese curds as an appetizer. They were very good. Definitely fresh not frozen curds. My daughter had the crabby patty cheese burger with tots from the kids menu. She liked it. I had the traditional wings with the exotic sauce. The sauce was good but it needed something. Either more spice or sweetness or both. It was trying to be a sweet chili sauce but was missing something. I will say the quality of the wings was excellent. Very large meaty wings. I'd get them again. Place was empty when we got here but filled up as we were here. Nice tv locations. This was our first time at this restaurant and it will be our last. I like the atmosphere, service was ok, food was not good. We had the blackened mahi fish tacos (my wife and I both ordered them. They were not edible.. As soon as our server set them down, I can smell that they weren't going to be good (before ordering, the server told us that the fish tacos were good). The mangos in the mango salsa that tops the tacos were hard as a rock and had zero flavor. The fish smelled and didn't taste good. Neither of us ate our food, we asked for our check. One bar tender brought the check and asked us if we wanted a box (mind you we both ate one bite of the tacos and left the rest), we politely said no. A different bar tender came by and asked if we wanted a box, again we responded no thanks. NEITHER ASKED IF THE FOOD WAS GOOD, AS IF THEY ALREADY KNEW THAT IT WASN'T. When I was a server, if someone didn't eat their food the first thing I'd ask is if they liked the food or if it was ok..... Neither asked at all. Not a place we will be returning. Granted we found out that 4 people called out on this day, but the service and food was also not good. We got seated immediately, and someone did come to take our drink order. When they brought the drinks, we ordered pretzel sticks. Literally 30 min later we received the cold, microwaved pretzels. Shortly after our food came out. My husband's tacos were basically tortillas, raw onions, and a little bit of meat. And the rice and beans looks like it sat under a heat lamp for a while. While returning home from our road trip it was time to grab something to eat along the way. I recalled this place from a while back as I passed by it on my way to the shopping area that is in the vicinity. I dropped my traveling party off at the door and went off to park the car. When I walk in I saw they had already been seated. As it was between lunch and dinner the place was not all that crowded and yet there was a fair amount of customers. The menu that was left on the table for us to read had small print and the ink colors were offset so I felt like I already had a few too many just looking at it. Luckily one of the three of us had one that had good print on it. I opted to scan the code on the table to read the on-line version. There was a separate beer menu that has many choices, too many to try them all that day. I guess I'll have to come back. They do have an outside patio for when the weather is nice. Our server Zach came by to greet us and help explain some of the menu items we had questions about. He also took the time to educate us on the micro brewery behind the Tap House. The beer I chose was one of their own. I like to support the local brewery's while traveling. The ladies at the table had the salmon salad which looked amazing, and I was told it was delicious. I went for the Mac&Cheese. I wanted to try it straight up to get the taste of the base before loading it up with add in proteins. Unfortunately there was an error made along the way and chicken was added. I did try a piece of the chicken and found it was dry and overcooked. Note to self.....No chicken. At the end of the meal Zach spent time with us to chat and explained that the place had been open for just a little over 3 months. Nothing about this place is worth it. I'd rather have the empty building than this restaurant. We walked in and waited over 5 minutes before anyone acknowledge us. We were almost about to walk out and I think that's when they realized "oh shoot we better say hi and seat them before we lose business." They we're not busy at all, which was shocking as we went on a Friday night. Once seated, our server was the least friendly human being I've come across is a long time. For them to open in the midst of Covid and to be acting this way is absolutely unreasonable and ridiculous. We ordered some drinks, none of them were good. And then we ordered multiple appetizers, some were recommended by our crabby and insanely unfriendly server that's usually why I don't even ask for recs because most of the time they recommend god awful items. I most definitely will not return and will not recommend this place. I don't foresee them staying open for very long. There's way better options in the same area. And with better service! This was a tough place to review after our dinner there last night. Some things were good but others were not so good. The good: Great beer list. Plenty of TVs. Hot n spicy crispy chicken wrap was very tasty. The bad: Service was awfully slow, and the place wasn't totally full which would've made sense. Both the pretzels app and sweet potato fries that came with the chicken wrap were ice cold. Would've loved to give 3.5 stars but since that isn't an option I ultimately went with 4 as I'm sure I'll be back for that chicken wrap and I'll opt for a different side and stay away from the pretzels. read more

This restaurant is very dirty and neglected. It's a shame as the one in Palatine is excellent. It really needs some management. Stopped in this new location for some lunch on MLK day with my son. Atmosphere was nice. Nice crowd for a 2:00 on a Monday. Service was good. Food wasn't fast but it didn't take long. I ordered the muffuletta chicken sandwich and he ordered the shrimp tacos. Both meals were very tasty and showed up as advertised. There are certainly things on the menu that caught my eye to bring me back. It's not the cheapest place around but for good food and good service I'm ok with paying a little more. To start ofd the Tipsy Stout Burger was absolutely delicious with the sweet glaze they put on it with the onion straws. But here is where the minus two stars came into play, when I walked in and was asked where we would like to be seated and i replied with "I do not mind where", she gave me and my friend a very nasty look and rolled her eyes and shrugged her shoulders. We just complied and asked for a booth. Besides that the slow lunch time crowd was fantastic.
