It even has that familiar smell of dust, patchouli and weed. I could have spent an entire day here, flipping through movies and music. Their used items are INCREDIBLY well-priced. I got a used, hardcover book that only released last year for $6, and a used DVD for under $2. I also found some rare music DVD's priced under Amazon. If you're in town, it's definitely worth a stop for the nostalgia factor alone. But I GUARANTEE you will walk out of there with an armload of goodies.

This store is very popular since it's located north of the MA border where there's NO SALES TAX and the parking lot is a bit tight in front. I'll shop here often to pick up new releases and scavenge through the used CDs and DVDs. I've picked up a few great deals in Salem including $2.99-$3.99 used CDs and $6.99 used DVDs and cool toys such as kazoos, bobble heads, and a George W. Bush Talking Bottle Opener, "Fool me once.... shame on...shame on you..... Fool me, can't get fooled again." Newbury Comics has an Email Club which is free to join and they'll send newsletters with lists of new releases, specials, in-store events, coupons, and even cool freebies each week to your inbox. I've collected the set of Newbury Comics limited edition pint glasses, which is offered free to Email Club members with an email coupon sent throughout the year. However, several times, this store runs out of the glasses and other freebies quicker than other locations. NOTE: This store will be closing in March 2016 and relocating to The Mall At Rockingham Park in the former FYE space. This has been the trend lately of several Newbury Comics stores moving into malls (ie Nashua, Burlington MA, Peabody MA, Natick MA, Braintree MA, South Portland ME).

I don't know what the incense is that they use in this place, but I want some. The staff looks essentially the same from one store in the chain to the next, and the walls and the shelves above the CD racks contain the same useless junk from one store to the next. It's that useful junk that makes Newbury Comics fun. Very rarely do I actually buy something here. It's just fun to look through all the weird things they have and wonder who would actually wear these stupid t-shirts and tote these obnoxiously quirky bags. If I wanted to buy cheap used CDs, DVDs, or Blurays, I would go to Bull Moose down the street. Newbury Comics just has a charm that pulls me back to enjoy gazing at the strange, strange things it stocks.

The relocation of older Newbury Comics stores into indoor shopping malls has been the trend for the past 10 years. This store has a fresh bright modern look with shiny hardwood floors and nice colorful displays of merchandise. They still offer a decent selection of new & used music (CDs & records), movies (DVDs & Blu-Ray), and games, but the selection of music (CDs) at Newbury Comics is considerably less than 10 years ago. With many people now downloading their music, buying from Amazon and the existing competition from Bull Moose Music & Movies, this probably made good business sense. In addition to the music and movies, this mall store is more focused on offering hip clothing, t-shirts, hats, cool toys, gag gifts, comic books, posters, calendars, and Star Wars merchandise. Like other Newbury Comics locations, they also offer a good selection of Pop! figures. The newer updated FYE stores also have a similar focus as Newbury Comics, offering more toys, games, action figures, and Pop! figures. IMO, as a music buyer, I liked the old Newbury Comics better (in the 1990s-2000s), which offered a vast selection of new & used music and movies at very reasonable and bargain prices. Newbury Comics was the place to buy most of my music and movies. However, for a great selection of new & used music and movies (and books too!), there's a large Bull Moose store on South Broadway across the street from the old Newbury Comics location.

It's a good for for the mall since there's Spencer's and Hot Topic which carry similar stuff. They're shifting towards that audience now.

This new employee owned Bull Moose store is way less cramped than its former Sanford location, where I've shopped for music a long way back. This store had their grand opening a few months ago. Like its old location except more spread out inside, the Biddeford location offers a pretty good selection of new and used music, movies, video games, and books to choose from. The store is well organized nicely by sections with vinyl records, books, CDs, video games, DVDs, Blu-rays and miscellaneous items in between. The music is organized by genre alphabetically with a mix of new and used CDs, They also carry used cassettes ($3 each) underneath the old vinyls. The prices including the sale prices here are very competitive to the online music stores. The Bull Moose website is a good place to search and find which stores have your item or title in stock. They also do special orders and accept used music, movies, and video games for $$$ if in good condition. I spotted several used CDs from 20 years ago being sold for as low as $2.97, which I have in my personal collection and are no longer made. As a holder of the Bull Moose Music FBC (Freakin' Buyers Card), I earn points with each purchase here and receive the Bull Moose Music weekly emails with their e-sales flyers, new releases, promotions, and events (chainwide). IMO, the new Biddeford Bull Moose location is a great improvement to the older cramped location, though it's not as big as the Scarborough Superstore location.

The place is so large, filled with new and used CDs, DVDs vinyls, cassettes, 8 tracks, books, kitchy items, socks, pins, etc. This time I found a bunch of CDs for 97 cents-all in perfectly good condition. Eco friendly way to reduce, reuse, recycle! I love coming here to look for obscure items that I probably could find somewhere online, but this is so much more fun and gratifying. You never know what you may find. You could be in here for hours and hours. The staff is very friendly and always most helpful.

I remember in my childhood it being a favorite chain to visit for new music releases as well as video games too. Basically it's a spot to grab new and used physical media. It was recently announced this particular location of Bull Moose will be closing the end of this month. During this time they are offering buy one get one on pre-owned items. You will find books, video games, CDs, DVDs/Blu-Rays, records and some other things. The store was quite crowded and they've definitely sold through a good amount of their stock with some shelves empty already. My wife enjoyed browsing the books and ended up buying one new book and some others will add to her future book wants. Overall they had a good selection of stuff with some things reasonably priced especially with the BOGO deal. Staff were friendly and greeted us right away. Definitely some aspects of the location are dated but it kinda works for a record/cd shop/physical media store. If you are a fan of Bull Moose or getting back to more physical media then come here before they close or go to one of their other locations otherwise.

In both instances we usually end up buying something because of the vast selection of music, games, toys and socks and the reasonable prices. The staff members are similar to most Bull Moose stores, they are very laid back but are also very attentive. Someone is always there to greet you when you walk in the store, which for me automatically puts a smile on my face. The greeting seems sincere as well, not just a forced smile through stone eyes. Bull Moose (the whole chain) is the only place we go to for vinyl. The quality is always very good in their used collection and again, the prices, are very reasonable. Used blue rays are also a good deal here, the selection is sometimes unbelievable, not sure how they manage to get their stock, but if they don't have what you are looking for ask. They can call up any store in their system and order it for you as well. Video games, yes, old OLD and new, you can shop here for collectors vintage games or the newest games, almost any mainstream system. The cash out process is very easy and don't forget to sign up for the rewards program if you haven't already. They really do benefit you in the long run. I highly recommend Bull Moose and this location, because there is plenty of parking and if you know me, parking does matter
