Bull Falls was my third brewery stop when I got to town Friday, the beer came highly recommended from the previous two breweries. Beertender Adrianna was really friendly and knowledgeable. Adrianna was also very helpful and patient; as I told her I wanted to try beers, but keep it low ABV as I still had the night in front of me and this wasn't my first stop. I opted for taster pours of Maple Pecan Porter, Oktoberfest and Bock Lager. All were absolutely delicious, I opted for a short pour of Maple Pecan Porter. The tap room is bright, spacious, and comfortable. The brewery is essentially nestled in the middle of neighborhoods. This is definitely my favorite brewery in Wausau! I've tried most of the beers and never been disappointed. My favorite is their hefeweizen. I think that the main reason why is I'm not a big fan of the overly hoppy aftertaste of a lot of beers and their's have more of a smooth finish. That being said, I've never tried their IPA. The inside of the taproom is all wooden, which makes it feel like a German beer hall vibe. The staff is also super friendly as are all the clientele everytime I've been there. You never know who you'll talk to here, I've met some very interesting people. Overall if you're looking for a brewery, go here! We tried a can of some Bull Falls beer last year in Minocqua and decided next time we were in Wausau we should check them out. It's a really nice facility. I kind of wish we could have taken the tour. The taproom is small, but intimate. I could easily see coming here after work or for a girl's night out. Everyone was super friendly. My husband tried the Hop Worthy IPA and bought a growler of it to go. Great stuff! read more

This is a good place to go if you're really into beer (obviously) and the prices are okay. It is smaller than it looks like it would be and the chairs they have at the tables are not all that comfortable. Not a terrible selection of beers though and it is a good place to go with a couple friends. read more

Hit or miss on the styles. The lagers were good. The october feast was good as well. Busy on a sunday. There was a funny sign which said good beer is clean beer and they stated they cleaned their tap lines every 2 weeks. Is that not average? Need to look that up. This is a great looking place and the bartenders are generally pretty good. Kind of a chill environment and random things are going on-food trucks, entertainment, etc. With a growing need we were super surprised that they had ZERO non-alcoholic beer/wine options. Waiting for my luggage to arrive on the next flight at the Central Wisconsin Airport, we drove into town to check out some of the local breweries, since we were on vacation in the Northwoods. Out first stop was this brewery that brews, packages in cans, and distributes in the local region (unfortunately not in Reno). There is an excellent tasting room - completely finished, with plenty of seating, and a gift shop. They are a brewery, so they don't make food, but they do allow you to hang out for extended hours and bring in food from the outside. The selection, I noticed, was "lager-centric" and they had a real good schwarzbier that they do can. So, after sampling a few beers and buying some of the dark lager, we were happy and went on our way. I'd like to see them at Canfest! in Reno next year. read more

They host a stable of reliable brews as well as a rotating seasonal catalogue. There is something for just about everyone here. My trusty GPS took me here after a recommendation by a local couple at Trig's. It is a big tricky to find---but turn by turn directions made everything easy. This place is very cool: it is a microbrewery that feels a little like that establishment in Cheer's. It seemed like the whole crowd was really an extended family, but they quickly embraced me as part of my quest to find refreshment for the evening. Determined to buy a growler to take home my co-pilot sampled several different brews (mmm free beer tasting) before we settled on the hefeweisen and the pilsner. Service - everytime I go here there is a sense of 'home' and the people who are servicing or are bartending having a great way of making your feel like you are welcome. Beers - I love the light beers and the sampler is amazing to try 5 beers for $5 .. such a deal! My boyfriend loved the Ocktoberfest and I had the seasonal Hefeweizen with a lemon - delicious! Beer is exceptional and is brewed on premises. No food served. Cozy, clean but plain inside. Will keep coming for the great beer!

The beer was very good. They have spent time investing in high quality equipment in their brewing process and it shows. My only real issue was that it did feel a little uncomfortable being there from out of state. It very much has this homey small-town feel, but when I walked in, it seemed almost seemed uninviting. Once I got a drink, though, I realized that the people don't come here for the somewhat boring decor, but rather for the quality of the product. Peanuts on the table are a plus. Will have to grab some packaged goods to bring back to the Chicago area. read more

I went for the tour and had a beer in the Tap Room. It was a bit cramped but the server was very nice and she explained the different beers. On the tour it was explained that the beers are purposely focused to be more 'Malty'. I guess it is a preference and I am not a big fan of malty tasting beers, but many are and it is a good option for those people. The tour itself was a bit of a disappointment in that it was just an elderly man talking for an hour and a half and very little of an actual tour, but it is a mighty tiny brewery. I doubt I would ever find a reason to return but for those of you who love malt - enjoy! read more

As the other poster stated, this place is a little bit off the beaten path. It seems to be catching on more; however, as microbrews grow in popularity in the area. The niche here is traditional German-style brews done very well. The prices are reasonable and there are free peanuts on the tables. So there's bonus points right there! Service tends to be a little slow, but who cares!? Just relax and enjoy. Good for small group get-togethers. Especially if the group is a bunch of beer nerds. Otherwise, the environment is a bit different than the usual Wisconsin tavern....meaning it can tend to feel a bit sterile and somewhat boring if you don't have someone else to help entertain you. Age demographic skews a bit higher than the other microbreweries in the area. Full disclosure: I haven't been at Bull Falls when the beer garden is open and/or there is live entertainment. Maybe once I get that opportunity this place will earn that fifth star. read more

We have been to the brewery several time with the last time being Octoberfest. This time we brought our whole family (11 of us). It was fantastic. The girls were all in authentic costumes, the band was terrific and the beer was great. This is authentic beer so if you are looking for the average commercial beer you wont find it here. The owners could not be more friendly. Also, the food served there was delicious ... I had the cranberry pork which melted in your mouth. We drive from Minneapolis just to come to the brewery and will do it again. read more

Without exception, my favorite place to have a beer. The staff is exceptional. The beer is amazing. It is worth the time to travel a few blocks off Grand Avenue in Wausau to enjoy Bull Falls.
