Wonderful Gastropub. The set up of the ale house is roomy and vast, but decorated in a way that allows each couple or family to have an intimate meal together. The service was top-notch. Our waiter was attentive to our every need had a great sense of humor and made the experience very enjoyable. My cousin and I stoped here with our 6 kids on a Thursday for lunch. It was not busy. We were able to get a table and the waitress came over right away. She was very attentive. We ordered the giant pretzel and cheese curds and everyone enjoyed that. The kids had a pretty standard chicken tenders /fries and corndog and yogurt. They ate most of it, so that's food. Wow! Love when I just stop into some random place and find a winner! Amazing service (friendly, attentive, prompt, pleasant), very yummy food, and great atmosphere. I had the pizza (they have gluten free!) but almost had a burger (they have gluten free buns!!). The decision was a challenge. Looking around, everyone else's food looked as delicious as mine. The crowd grew as the night went on. A lot of locals showed up so it was fun to see them socializing and laughing. The decor was unique and interesting. It's a cabin/farm/outdoor thing. I loved it! This is such a hidden gem in Weston! Don't let the exterior or interior trick you thinking this is just another bar. It certainly is more than just a bar! I'm pleasantly surprised by the food menu with a modern twist. I ordered the seared tuna the first time I was here. Wow! So much flavors in this dish! I can taste the smokey chili pepper, sesame oil, green onion and sesame seeds!! So delicious and the tuna was seared to perfection!! The second time I had the smoked salmon flatbread. Loved the touch of dill on top! Plenty of vegetarian options on the menu too! I can say the beet burger is probably one of the best I've had. So savory and satisfying! Came into town with the husband for a ski weekend getaway at Granite Peak and was looking for a place to eat close to our hotel. Sconni's met all of our requirements and we were not disappointed. The restaurant is super quirky in decor; bottles on the wall, books, casino type games, and a large event space in the back.. The service was really spectacular, everyone was very friendly and made sure we had everything we needed. For our starter we ordered the Spicy Brussels Sprouts- they were amazing. I got the Hawaiian Carnitas and my husband got The Elk burger. Our food was delicious. Our waitress said we ended up ordering some of her top menu choices. It was nice to come here on a Saturday nnight and get immediate seating. This place is a go to restaurant the next time we are here in Wausau. It was too salty for me and the patty wasn't juicy. It wasn't bad just not my style of cheeseburger I suppose. The best burger was very good. In Wausau for the weekend, Sconni's was our second choice for a late dinner (a local Brewery had an hour 45 min. wait), but from now on, Sconni's will be our first choice. Walking in through the birches billiard area the tall birches are a nice northern Wisconsin touch. Service, from the Hostess stand to our server to everyone, was so nice. Our server explained the specials, told us a few things that she thought were good, and got my local craft beer order going while we looked at the menu. Came to Rothschild for a work meeting so naturally went on Yelp to find the best foods to try. I had a hankering for fried cheese and while most of the restaurants in Wausau seemed to have cheese curds on the menu, Sconnie's curds looked the tastiest. They nice bartender said they get the cheese directly from the cheese maker nearby so they are super fresh. They were the best fried cheese curds I've had fo sho. They serve them with ranch which is the only proper way to serve curds. Eating these made me proud to live in the cheesy state of Wisconsin. Also tried the Green Curry which has cauliflower, chickpeas, zucchini, saffron basmati rice, coconut green curry, herb oil and Dukkah (an Egyptian blend of spices). It had very good flavor and I loved the chickpeas in it. My only complaint was that the cauliflower and zucchini were too big and underdone making them hard to eat. You know a place has it going on when the bartender has a hip, eclectic style, the drinks are flowing, and the place is packed. Stopped at Sconni's for an after-dinner drink and ended up staying for more. The atmosphere in the outside bar was fantastic, with eclectic music served up by the bartenders, JENGA, a water fall, couches galore, and some fire tables. The whole vibe was excellent, and the tap beers tasted great. I started with Three Sheeps Tiki Torch and followed it up with a Blueberry Lemon Shandy. The passion fruit in the Tiki Torch hit just the right notes. When I went for the blueberry lemon shandy, the mouth feel wasn't quite right. Not enough carbonation, but an nice blast of blueberry and lemon. I have had pizza and burgers there before, so it was nice to just go for beers. Let me preface this review by saying that this is normally one of my favorite restaurants in the Wausau area. I normally bring people from out of town here because there is always a great selection of food and drinks. However, my most recent time here was not so good. We came on Sunday night for dinner with some people from out of town and the staff seemed a little flustered. I'll give them some credit, because they were pretty busy for a Sunday night, but it was a little slow with service. Our waitress was excellent in explaining what was taking so long, and it didn't really bother us because we weren't in a hurry, but some of the other tables didn't seem to like the wait. It also kind of seemed like new staff was being trained in. As for the food, there were some hits and some misses. We ordered the coconut curry hummus for the appetizer and it was excellent perfect way to start out the meal and a great presentation. For the entrees for our group, we ordered the Reuben sandwich, the elk burger and the fish tacos. The Reuben was pretty standard and well enjoyed. The elk burger was very good and probably what I should have ordered however, I normally love their fish tacos. This night however, the tacos were a mistake to order. The base is a cumin-chili cast iron grilled cod, which in the past has been perfectly seasoned. I don't know what happened this time, but it was more like clumps of cumin and chili smeared on the fish. I decided to pick the clumps off and just from the one taco there was over a tablespoon of seasoning. I took the other two tacos to go and will make them to my taste at home. This one not so great experience aside, I do normally love this place and will be back. I might just have to try something else from the menu. read more

Whenever we visit Wausau for a ski trip we stop by Sconni's for a great meal in a local restaurant, which we prefer over the larger chains. We really enjoy the food and the atmosphere as well as our waiter Steward who is friendly, funny, and as real as you can get. We will come back for more during our next visit!
