El Super is a very large store, almost warehouse-sized. One could even describe it as a mini…read moreMexican version of Costco. Upon entering the store, I visited the deli section to purchase food. The dining area was dirty, unkempt, and honestly disgusting. We had to go out of our way to clean a table ourselves just to be able to sit down and enjoy our meal. That level of uncleanliness is unacceptable for an area intended for customers to dine. The products are significantly overpriced, while the overall value is average at best, if not slightly below average in quality. The employees generally lack professionalism and are not customer service-oriented. During one of my shopping trips, the deli employees, including the deli manager, attempted to sell me food that I believed was inedible and did not meet appropriate food safety standards based on its temperature and the length of time it appeared to have been sitting under the heat lamp. When I politely requested a fresh batch, the employees complained about the request, dismissed my concerns, and proceeded to package and sell food that I believed should not have been offered for sale. At the same time, I was charged for a greater weight of food than I received, and a price different from what was advertised was applied. Correcting the transaction took approximately an hour. No consideration or compensation was offered for the unnecessary time, inconvenience, or effort required to resolve an issue that could have been handled properly and professionally from the beginning. In my experience, the deli department created the impression that customers must carefully monitor every aspect of their order--including pricing, weight, and food quality--to ensure they are charged accurately. On a separate shopping trip, I searched for a product I typically purchase at another Mexican grocery store. Although El Super did not carry the specific flavor I wanted, a newer employee named Brian provided excellent customer service. With gentle prompting and encouragement, he took the time to locate the same brand in an alternative flavor. His professionalism and willingness to help made the interaction a positive one, and I was happy to try the alternative. Despite my concerns, El Super does have a few highlights. The bakery offers unique and creative desserts that maybe worth trying. The potato wedges are standard yet decent when served hot and fresh they are enjoyable. The flan, however, was underwhelming, as it had a noticeably watery consistency.

It's really not an issue with me since this market has it all and obviously up to being well stocked in our neighborhood to keep us shopping in our own backyard. I commend this Ralph's for not servicing our residents with sub par groceries typical in non-affluent areas. My experience with checkers find them to be cordial and efficient. There's a lot happening in this store. As soon as you walk in, its right in your face. There's the cashiers in the front of the store, produce on the right side, aisles in the middle, protein in the back wall, butchers in the back left corner, and bakery on the left wall. The building doesn't feel super big and everything feels on top of each other. You get two people in the aisle and it feels pretty small. That being said, everything felt in place. I didn't have to run around or find substitutions for what I wanted because things were well stocked. Cashiers weren't super chatty but they gave a head nod and acknowledged you and honestly that's a win. Food were pretty fresh. I got a few things to eat that same night and some the next day. Even the gummy worms I got weren't hard and stale. Parking lot is solid. Nice sized lot. Off a main street. Not well lit. So I would park closer when the sun sets.

I didn't have the code to get a price ($22.00 for a pint), which is way out of line for the size of the container, but then again they used fresh fish in the poke and not fish that was previously frozen. The store is well stocked and neatly organized. The meat counter and deli service is outstanding. They just need more cashiers at this store, at least one more to accommodate the line.
