A-1 is an Italian market with an Italian deli counter that just does Italian and other sandwiches right. The guy with the mustache working the meat counter has been there for years. I haven't been back in many years but other than higher prices and moving the cashier to the other side of the aisle, it was like walking into a time warp. My steak sandwich was huge and the meat was as tender as I remember. So glad a friend mentioned he saw someone on social media who gave A-1 a glowing review that led us to grabbing sandwiches and hanging out at Averill Park to catch up on things. The staff was friendly and helpful. The only negative might be the parking which is street only. We got lucky and it wasn't very busy this is not always the case. There isn't anyplace to eat in the market but there is a park across the street. They do have some shady characters hanging around at times so you might want to find a different location to eat your food if you're not taking it home.

While it's a smaller market, it packs a serious punch when it comes to both quality and value. The Haul: I was blown away by the pricing compared to the other farmers market. We walked away with three bushels of berries for just $13 and gorgeous orange watermelons for $5 each. What to expect: Beyond the produce, they have a great selection of eggs, fresh seafood, and plenty of veggies. If you're coming hungry, definitely grab a bite the tamales and pupusas were absolutely delicious. This is officially our new go-to. If you're looking for high-quality, farm-fresh goods without the typical farmers market markup, definitely make the trip. It's well worth it!

Most of the vendors are very kind and approachable, with the exception of one that I had a not so great interaction with. But the good thing about that is that there are PLENTY of options. There is also a honey vendor, hummus, cheese, and fish/meat vendor. It's small but has everything you need.
