We purchased our Prescott Valley home from the orginal owner 23 years ago who had a wood buring fireplace installed when the home was buit in 1991. We decided to have Builders Wholesale perform the conversion to a gas insert. From start to finish Builders was there for us. Tyler and Chris accuretly meausered and discussed insert options with us. Their showroom was well stocked with many fully functional insert units that we could "test drive" the unit we selected. Builders installation crew of Dan and Chad are true professionals and did an outstanding job. Why anyone would decide to contract with another supplier is beyond me. Gasket has fallen off Vermont Castings Wood Stove 11 months after installation. Apparently this is a wear item and not covered under warranty. I expressed my concern about carbon monoxide poisoning and was asked by their staff if I have a carbon monoxide detector which of course I do, however, I would feel safer having a stove that doesn't pump carbon monoxide into my home. I feel this shouldn't be a concern with a relatively new stove installed by their company. We have only used the stove for 4 months during the winter. Builders Wholesale says it will cost me a service charge to send out a technician or if I purchase a gasket and glue from their business myself it will be $50 ++ to replace short amount of gasket and adhesive!! Please be aware of the Vermont Castings wood stove "Dauntless " poor quality before purchasing. In addition all of the handles on the stove repeatedly loosen up and have to be tightened on a regular basis. Stove cost us $8,200 for unit, chimney, and installation . We never questioned the price or tried to get a deal. I feel it's sad that Builders Wholesale can't even give us a little bit of glue and new gasket seal so we can repair it ourselves. They were very friendly during the purchase but not so much when asking about a warranty. Very disappointing. read more

They most definitely know their business. They were the original installer of our Quadra-Fire fireplace in September of 2006 and were the service company for two previous owners. Their service employee, Nick L., came out to our home when we called and asked for service after I had tried to relight our fireplace. I took him less than a minute to determine that our standing pilot control was not firmly placed in the on position. Once he moved it ever so slightly and tried the remote our beautiful flame was back. read more

Called Builders Wholesale in Prescott Nov. 11th 2025, and made an appointment to have our newly self installed Pellet stove looked at due to it not working right , was told the tech had experience and was trained , he showed up 30 minutes late and came in to clean our brand new stove , [ did not ask for , or need a cleaning ] . then he proceded to tell us our pipe was installed wrong , [ old stove and same type of pipe was there for over twenty years , and permited by county through custom home builder / owner ] , all new pipe bought at Lowes , but he argued for 15 minutes that Lowes did not know what they were doing ? . and refused to even look at stove , so I told him our relationship was over , he was there about 25 minutes , about 15 minutes argueing and making phone calls , another 10 minutes to leave. Very rude young man and , As I refused to pay for that kind of [ lack of service ] they called me 11-17-2025 demanding I pay a service fee, I refuse to pay for "NON SERVICE" and for someone to argue even after I said "were done' , She also decided to argue and threatin me with collections . If service after the sale is important to you then go to Builders Wholesale for your windows, doors, and fireplace. I worked with Charlie Fullmer on the initial selection of all of the above. He is incredibly knowledgeable on all his products, easy to work with, and gave us many suggestions that I used. Recently I had an issue with a window leak (this is 8 years after installation). Wonderful job. We had a fireplace insert installed in our existing wood fireplace. They were on time, worked hard, asked about our desires during installation and completed the job without leaving a trace they had been here. Except for the beautiful fireplace they installed. LOL They even took the time to explain the operation details to us even though they were in the owners manual. From the sales discussion in the showroom to the visit for measurements and cost estimate to the final installation, we could not have been treated better. Tried starting up our Heat & Glo gas fireplace that Builder's Wholesale installed for us over 10 years ago and it would not light. Tried resetting the remote per the owners manual and that didn't help. We called the sales office and Laura tried some "simple troubleshooting" steps with me over the phone to try while she patiently waited. When that didn't work she set an appointment the very next day for a service call. The tech, Jesus, began his magic! Soooo knowledgeable and personable! He found the problem (that was not referenced in the owners manual) and had it up and running in no time at all. What a relief! I called Builders Wholesale to have them send someone out to do a repair on my fireplace insert. Got my appointment within a couple days. The lady on the phone was very friendly and helpful. On the day of appointment Mitch called to give me a heads up that he was on his way. Mitch came in with a big smile and was very neatly dressed. First impressions are big for me and he immediately made me feel comfortable having him in my home. He went right to work knowing exactly what needed to be done. I was afraid because the insert was so old that it was going to mean ordering parts and a big bill. Not the case. He got it up and running quickly explaining every step. He also hooked up the wall switch that was never hooked up. I always had to use the remote.
