It has become mine and my husband's favorite restaurant after visiting for every special event, which are always made more special by the staff that remembers us each time. That is always a nice feeling, to be remembered. We also try to come stop by at least once a month just for a drink or dessert because the atmosphere is so beautiful. When it was time to get married, we didn't even consider other options. We were married in the Fireplace room, and held the reception on the lakefront terrace. Nadia, was our contact at the venue for the wedding planning and walked us through every single step of the way. She coordinated several special requests for us throughout the process and always welcomes us with a smile when we see her. We will definitely be back for our baby shower...one day!

Luckily, it was a warm fall day so it was nice, but the wind cause the fountain water to keep flying in our direction. For a catering place, usually the food is rarely good. Here, I was pleasantly surprised. We shared a bunch of apps and each ordered our own entree. I enjoyed the truffle mac and blue point oysters the most. The calamari and Korean wings were fine. I had the crab and eggs as my dish. It was very good but on the smaller side for a plate that costs $35. I wish it came with fries or something. We also had the dessert sampler and my favorite was the cookie butter mousse. They have really fun cocktails, including the espresso martini tree and the bubbly cocktail tree, which are great for a larger group. Service was friendly but we had to hunt down our waiter a few times so we can order. Overall, pleasantly surprised with this place.

I really was so warmly welcomed here and they were eager to help answer any questions and just engage with some of the key points. So many charming things used to learn today. From mastodons of which you can enjoy seeing a 10-foot-tall mastodon sculpture : a woolly mammoth-looking creature which once roamed the hills of Staten Island in prehistoric days. Learn about the industries that thrived in this area for example, their chewing gum factory, the terra-cotta factory & ceramic factory. Such wonderful things created for people to enjoy, however, the Freshkills area and then to see all the years and years worth of efforts made to clean up the area and make it safe and beautiful and a wonderful habitat once again. It was nice to see that it's treated as a beautiful treasure. Grateful to the women who lead the groups that were very persistent in this endeavor. I loved seeing the erasure poetry activity.. where are we made poetry by blocking out the letters that were the writings of the museum's kind founder William T. Davis. Reconstructing his writing.. it's a wonderful little game that takes you slowly into his thoughts and his love and reflections of his town. I'm happy to learn about the founder of this museum and how he took care of all the sailors by constructing these buildings and giving them a home after a lifetime of working hard on the ships Very thankful for all the hard-working people that keep this wonderful story alive and in the minds of everyone lucky enough to venture this way.

You can get through most of the garden in under an hour and a half. They are known for the Chinese Garden which is breathtaking and costs just $5 to explore. The exhibit shares great history and really makes you feel like you're in a different world. There is a cafe with outdoor seating where you can grab a small bite and there's also a few adorable cottages and one of them is converted into an ice cream shop with benches outside. They also had a dance festival which was fun to watch. This was the perfect place to spend a summer day!

Tip: Another good activity to indulge in when you're here is trail running.  There's not a lot of elevation change on the trails, but there's enough distance to get the job done ;-) Once you get a ways inside the Greenbelt you won't hear a lot of car noise, which is a good thing in my book.

We found it while doing an online search for intimate, outdoor wedding venues and were surprised to find such a nice space for a reasonable rate. Christina, the onsite coordinator, was very helpful in getting us started and working with our requests and ideas. Our wedding day was rained out so we had to move our ceremony indoors, in an exhibit room next to the reception area, but it worked out well (the outdoor terrace is really nice though and once the rain cleared, our guests were able to take their photos backed by the nice fall foliage). The center accommodated the move and it was the perfect space for the amount of guests that we had. The site is beautiful and well-maintained. It has a naturally built-in rustic decor, so we didn't need to go above and beyond for decorations. Their staff helps with set up and breakdown of tables and chairs and there's a good-sized kitchen/service area. We had a lot of guests complimenting our choice and asking how we found this place (Staten Island is sort of the forgotten borough, sorry!). It was the perfect space for our special day and we'd definitely recommend it to other couples seeking an intimate wedding venue.
