My kids wanted to go here. So we went. My girls had an amazing experience and the staff were great. My only negative was that it was only 1 monitor for adding a song to your bear. And the line was long. Not to mention, the line got extra long as my 2 girls was trying to figure out what sound they wanted. There's a missed opportunity to have 2-3 monitors. Also - I wished that the same deals BAB offers online, that they had it in store. My girls bears would have been $30 cheaper each, if they didn't want the experience. And I wished that they had a bigger selection of stuffed animals to choose from. But hey, they loved the experience. read more

Second year in a row, bringing my niece to "build her own birthday teddy." They do a special "Pay your age." You create your teddy and only pay how much you're turning! So, bringing a kid in is awesome for that price. Of course, if you add any add-ons, it does get a bit pricey, but if you just do the normal teddy, it's worth it! The whole process is quick. Stuffing the bear can be quite scary for the little ones just because of the sound the machine makes. Other than that, great little treat for your little ones, and they will have a blast. This is located on the second floor of the mall. All employees are friendly and efficient and get the line moving quickly. read more

I have seen the store on many occasions and I see the smiles of the the children walking out with their very own personalized bear. Why not try it out I said to myself? My first and only trip to Build A Bear was average and disappointing for the most part because when I arrived there were 3 employees in the store and only one customer. To the point, I wasn't greeted at any point and never asked if I needed assistance. While browsing their selection, I noticed that all of their bears are the same size...small!! How do you build a bear if they only come in one size? I was looking for a bear at least 2 feet in height but no. One the positive side, this is a great store for kids but for adults looking for a real selection, then you can skip this. read more

We brought our 7 year old daughter in for the first time and it was the best experience for her! All of the employees that were working today were great but, Elizabeth who helped to fill the stuffing was absolutely amazing. Her and our daughter were talking about Hello Kitty and all her friends. She was so attentive and her interaction with our daughter was so special. They were pretty busy and as I looked around all the employees were really working hard to engage with the kids and move everyone along at the same time. I mean what's not to like about this store. I've been a fan since I was a little girl and now I get to bring my nephews to have a good time. I feel that this is a must store to go when you are little. The experience is memorable. We came for a special deal of "pay your age" deal, so that's nice. Clothes was sold separately, but you still get a good deal even though you pay for the clothes. Bring your kids here honestly they will remember this forever. Keeping up with trends and the seasons, there were reindeer, My Little Ponies, Ninja Turtles and other non bear characters/animals. Sweetie was out of town this weekend, leaving me with my 2 little ones. My oldest is 4 and she must have seen a commercial or something but has been asking to go to Build a Bear. It was a rainy Saturday so off we go. I enjoy going every so often to Carolina Place and see how its evolved over the years. I park over by JC Penney since it gets you in on the 2nd floor. Mall was decently crowded and I didn't walk around too much since I was all alone with the kids and didn't need the stress. The crowd in the mall was noticeably 'weird" and caused me to weep for the future, enough said about that. Walked into Build a Bear which was pretty crowded with a nice mixed crowd of youngins and tweens. I was worried that I wouldn't know what to do since it was our first time and it was very self explanatory. My kids picked out their bear which was unstuffed and we then had to wait in line to have it stuffed. When it was our turn, the nice lady walked us through the process and engaged my kids well, asking them what they're naming the bear and how old they were etc....she also asked how they wanted the bear stuffed i.e. "soft and cuddly" and I'm not sure what the other choice was. Once it was sufficiently stuffed, she asked them to give the bear a hug to try it out. The kids then get to pick out a "heart" which they go through a little ceremony before the lady takes it and ties it into the bear. Let me stop and say how awesome this was.....my kids have 50 stuffed animals, but none that they were personally involved in making. It was a great experience. Next we primped the bear under blowdryers and got to brush them. Then, onto the dressing area where they got to choose their own outfits. An Associate must have seen that I didn't know what to do next since she came and helped my girls picked out outfits and shoes for their bears. They have all sorts of accessories which can run you a pretty penny if you get too into it. Then they have a computer where you enter the information which includes your e-mail and address so they can spam the crap out of you, I'm sure! You get a birth certificate for your bear before you leave which includes a code # where you can go online and bring the bear to life on the internet. Nice experience, not too expensive for what you get. It's not an everyday thing, but I can see us going back for special occasions. read more

Who doesn't love "date night" with their daughter? Not this guy...but...this guy doesn't exactly find "mall dates" as his idea of fun. Build-A-Bear Workshop was a nice stop on our tour of the mall. A white bear covered in hearts...a fairy princess outfit and Hello Kitty undies to boot. My daughter absolutely loved the whole process. We even got to kiss to little hearts and put them in her bear, "Ella Heart's" belly. My daughter enjoyed the experience so much, my son insisted on getting his own on our "hang out" day. I took my little nephew in to get a birthday bear. I live in SC and he lives in NC so I don't get up there that often. I am a rewards member and truly upset by the entire experience. His birthday was September 19th and I thought the program graced for 1 month from his birthday but apparently I was wrong and they didn't care. First upon walking into the store we weren't greeted or help at all we stood there for a good couple of minutes before I had to say Umm we need help here. Lindsay was the one who then came over and she was the worst yet!! She asked the birthdays of the kids and I told her and she then said my nephew couldn't get one because it was past his birthday! To do that to a child and a store that is to be magical is disgraceful and on top of that she didn't care 1 bit!! She doesn't deserve to be working there. So I asked to call corporate and they were more understanding and while on the phone they reached out to the store and the store manager I didn't get his name also said there was nothing they could do!! And corporate couldn't go around the store on this, never have I ever experienced such horrible customer service especially when dealing with things for children!!!! We would have been better off lying about the birthday to begin than to tell the truth I guess lesson learned. So to sum it all up my little nephew who was excited for the birthday bear didn't end up getting one because Lindsay and the manager were the worst when it comes to customer service and helping to make a child experience in their store a magical and memorable one. Absolutely disgusting and disgraceful! Also is you see Lindsay working just walk away! Never again!!! read more
