We have been to Buffet City two Saturdays in a row. I think that means I am a fan. $22.99 with all you can eat crab legs makes me happy. I also was happier bc I was able to get the crab out whole in big pieces. That's always a challenge to me. I also love the sashimi, oysters, broccoli, seaweed salad and octopus salad. I love the strawberry shortcake crunch ice cream too. I didn't love the beef from the hibachi. It was chewy. The service at our table is great. They clear our plates and get drinks for us. Everyone is nice and helpful. There's a lot of big groups here, & seniors have a good deal here for the price. Happy we found a great place we can enjoy especially with the very yummy crab legs and oysters for a great price. read more

I'm a fan! A big fan. The price is very reasonable for all the options and there are many tasty choices. The sushi table is particularly impressive and there is also seafood. Soups. American options from fries, pizza, ham and mashed potatoes, to a wonderful array of desserts, puddings, jellos, and even some salad! Yes, salad. Try a lil of things and go back for more if you like them. I didn't love everything but many dishes were quite tasty and there is a Hibachi station and so many choices and ways to mix and match I think for the price this is a big WIN. The peeps working here aren't super friendly, I'm not sure why, but I think the quality and variety of the buffet options and the fun of an AYCE buffet with so many good selections and desserts is pretty amazing really. read more

First, I will start with the things I appreciated about Buffet City. The restaurant was clean. The atmosphere was calm, and our server was kind. I also feel as though there was a decent selection of dishes to sample. My personal favorite were the lo mein noodles. However, I did feel the quality of the food could improve. It was clear that some of the food items were premade products. Some of the desserts were served in the plastic containers they were boxed in upon arrival. I also doubt that the egg buns are made in house. I feel as though the actual food they make tastes good (ie. Chicken, krab rangoons, sushi), but they should think twice before purchasing processed products that would be better made in house. read more

Plenty of clean plates at each end of each station for you to pick your food. My personal favorite is the Hibachi grill where I get to pick my veggies, meat and sauces. Combining them is the best part. People don't forget to tip the chef. Standing and cooking nonstop has got to be exhausting behind that hot grill. The servers are attentive and friendly. Fast and filing I have held off stopping by knowing I would overeat. That ended yesterday when I was in the area for an appointment with limited time for a lunch visit. I figured I could eat but didn't have time to overeat. I was wrong. As soon as I walked in I was shown to a seat and asked what I wanted to drink by the hostess. Efficient, and I headed right over to the buffet stations. It all looked very organized with plenty of plates at the end of the stations. I grabbed a plate and loaded up with Chinese food, mostly with chicken. It was all delicious. For my next trip I varied what I picked up and included a large piece of Kielbasa. It was all delicious. It was easy to signal for the check and pay while I finished up and I was on my way, walking slower to my appointment than I did getting to the restaurant. While my plan to not overeat failed, I was glad I finally stopped in. I was impressed with the newness of the place and the variety of the food. Buffet City is located where the Oriental Buffet was for many years. While it seemed familiar it was also better. And for a quantity eater like me, a seductive place. read more

It's very difficult to still find places that offer a variety of entrees less than $20, let alone a buffet. Both Buffet City's lunch and dinner menu are less than $20, which to me is ideal in this economy! I did have to pay $8.99 for my toddler (4year old) and I wouldn't say it was worth it because she barely eats. It is an Asian buffet. There is so much to choose from. Sushi, Wok station, Soups, kids station, raw bar, desserts, hot entree, ice cream, popsicles! Just an array. Most things I ate were delicious. I wasn't a fan of the sushi and baked salmon but other than that, everything else was good. There are limited vegetarian options. The service is good as well. There weren't dirty plates laying around, which was impressive during the busy lunch hour. They kept the establishment and food area very clean as well. read more

This restaurant is situated in plaza off of beeridge in Sarasota, and has plenty of parking. I went there on a Saturday evening and the place was very busy. There was about a 10 minute wait. The restaurant is a buffet and includes a hibachi station, sushi, shrimp, crab legs, and a range of other Asian style dishes. The selection was plentiful but I thought the quality of many of the dishes could be improved. The desert station was particularly disappointing. But I mostly stuck to crab legs, sushi and shrimp so was decent enough for me. Clearly a very popular place. The restaurant is clean and has a modern vibe to it. read more

Hands down the best buffet I have ever been to! I normally do not enjoy buffet food, but this place is...an experience. My kids say it's their favorite restaurant, and they have been to actual fancy restaurants. Why? For one, the sushi is actually fresh, beautiful, creative, and delicious! I did not think such a thing was possible at any buffet, but I actually eat their sushi and ENJOY it, without fear of late night ER visits. This is not a place where a warm welcome is provided, but it is a fairly priced, extensive buffet. Two important items for me were missing: tofu and egg foo young. There are lots of other dishes to enjoy, though, and everything was good. The price is $19.99 for dinner during the week for adults, $18.99 for seniors. My father and I just tried this buffet for the first time. We were very impressed with everything that they do. From bringing out hot/cold food all the time and putting in the original serving container correctly, wiping down the food area to keep it clean. The ambiance is calming with the blue lights. The price is fair for what you get and unlimited. Seniors over 62 get their drink free, but they do have a 2 hour eating limit. Can't wait to go back again. read more

Finally checked this place out! Was impressed with the cleanliness of the buffet tables and the restaurant in general. They have a great variety of food including your Chinese favs and American traditional foods. I was also impressed by the many types of sushi available. Hubby and I were in Sarasota to visit friends and decided to try Buffet City's new location here; it was not exactly what we expected, but in a very positive way. Let me say first that Hubby and I travel in our RV quite a bit, and we like to find buffets in the area we're in for the wide selection of prepared food choices available. The downside at most every Chinese buffet we've tried beside some old, dried out food offerings is a lackluster salad bar, mass-produced, flavorless desserts, and a couple of uninspired soup choices. Not so with our visit to Buffet City. After we were quickly greeted and seated by the friendly hostess, we soon received our drink order and set off to make our selections at the many buffet stations. The first thing I noticed was how fresh and plentiful the food was and how the buffet stations were kept extremely clean. This restaurant is already a well-oiled machine, even though it had only been open for about a week when we visited on a busy Saturday night. The new owners completely remodeled the interior of an existing buffet restaurant with a sleek, stylish, easy to maintain decor. I mosied over to the salad bar and was genuinely surprised to find three different types of lettuce choices and a nice selection of toppings, including olives, boiled egg halves, and pickled beets to name a few. They even had an extensive choice of dressings, including my personal favorite Thousand Island, which I've never seen at a Chinese buffet before. Everything was fresh and well stocked. I then checked out the sushi bar with quite an extensive variety to choose from, including sashimi, which you don't always find. Even though some of the sushi choices had been depleted, the sushi chefs were busy preparing more and had just brought out a beautiful sushi roll of which I snapped a picture. Once again, all were well made with fresh ingredients. Hubby and I each loaded our plates with the different things we wanted to try. Everything was delicious, not overly seasoned and freshly prepared. Hubby tried some barbecued ribs, which can be quite tough and dried out at other buffets, but not at Buffet City. The chicken wings were huge, tender, and freshly fried but not greasy at all. He also tried the wonton soup, which was one of three soup choices available. He was impressed that the wontons were in a separate pot from the soup, so they didn't get soggy and overcooked. I tried a delicious potsticker with a tangy sauce, perfectly fried fish that was moist on the inside with a crunchy coating, crisp tender sauteed green beans, and a Hawaiian chicken made from tender chicken breast cubes with a tempura coating in a light pineapple sauce. The chicken was so tender my hubby thought it was fish! I will also mention they had quite a variety of "American" food, including pizza, mac and cheese, and roast beef. We lastly tried their desserts, which included a large selection of fresh fruits, Hershey ice cream novelties, and freshly baked chocolate chip cookies that my husband was shocked at how delicious they were. I will say, too, that I have read comments about the food possibly being prepared with MSG, of which I am very sensitive, and I had no symptoms whatsoever of it being present in the food I ate there. All in all, we had a wonderful experience at Buffet City. The staff, though busy with a nearly full restaurant, were cheerful and attentive to requests given to them. Even though it was busy, we didn't feel it hindered our experience there at all. The only downside we saw was the sushi chefs trying to keep up with refilling the sushi roll selections, but I'm sure they will work the kinks out with that quickly. We told our friends here about Buffet City, and we will definitely be back for more before we leave town! read more

I made a reservation for 10 people, I did not know you could do that. Always very good, the restaurant is spotlessly clean and the food is fresh as it's being changed all the time due to the high turnover. Service was very good and our dirty plates were quickly removed. We asked for hot Chinese tea and and inquired if it was decaffeinated, we were told it was but I can tell you it was not as we were up all night!!! read more

This is the dog food of buffets and dog food at best of sushi. The host is a nasty unpersonable man. Most of the food has next to no taste. Poor quality, and low rent! The server was super nice. The server pace is clean. Just total garbage and super low quality food. A waste of time and total waste of calories. Will never go back there!!! read more

This is a repeat visit from a couple of weeks ago and warrants a revision and upgrade. Last visit I was disappointed in the sushi, however, this visit was different. While there the sushi chef was trimming and slicing fresh salmon which already puts Buffet City ahead of supermarket sushi. In addition, the fish slices were more generous. The other buffet fare was hot and replenished promptly. Servers continuously removed plates from guest tables. An overall better experience....hard not to overeat but in this case well worth it. The friends with me also enjoyed the experience and would return. Buffet city provides an amazing assortment of foods primarily Chinese but included ham, kielbasa, pizza, fish, chicken and an ample array on the fresh salad bar and plenty of desserts to chose from. read more

We decided to try Buffet city for lunch and while the place is very clean and food was tasty, neither me nor my wife could finish our plates and like we often do when dining out we get a to go box. Buffet City wanted to charge us for taking the remaining food on our plates home, I mean come on really, WTF, they are just going to throw away the few pieces of chicken that was left on the plate.. Crazy that they are so willing to be wasteful! Never, not a single time has any restaurant wanted to charge us for taking the remains of out food home, Buffet City you are part of the problem.
