Our experience here was great. The food quality is terrific and the portions for the rolls were good as well. Nina and her team took really good care of us. We will definitely come back again. What an unbelievable great restaurant! Went there last night with a party of four and were very very surprised on how good the food was that we ordered. Service was awesome, the restaurant was really clean, and as I said the food was outstanding. They have a nice selection of Japanese beer as well as sake but do not have a hard alcohol license. The biggest surprise was the price of the sushi, it was not the most least expensive sushi restaurant I've been to, but it was by far definitely not on the high end of sushi restaurants that I've been to. Quality food this good always equates to a much higher price point and I hope they maintain the prices that they have now. I really wanted to like U-Yee due to the lack of good sushi in LWR. However after dining in and ordering both sushi and hibachi it is simply meh. The servers are very friendly and the restaurant is super clean. As far as the sushi it was just basic with no real wow factor. The hibachi was bland which doesn't make sense when hibachi is usually salty. Inevitably I'll be back to give it another shot. read more

Nice people so I feel bad their business has appeared to slow down. It could be because the quality of their food has decrease to cut costs. The Dynamite Roll used to have raw salmon in it, but yesterday they definitely used left over cooked tail of salmon. I know because I hate the narrow tail of the salmon so I know when I'm eating it. Maybe they figure because the roll is breaded and fried, no one would notice, but I did and it was awful. Watch them make your sushi and know what you are getting. Very disappointed. I'm wondering if they are under new management within the last few months... we use to love U Ayer but the last two times have been horrible. Tonight we ordered Togo and had it delivered. Upon receiving it we realized we were missing one whole roll, the salads for both the teriyaki chicken and the hibachi chicken. The one roll we did receive was falling apart and soaked in a wet sauce. The hibachi rice is so over cooked it's mush. So disappointed. When we called to let them know the guy confirmed everything was in one bag, I told him what was missing and he kept telling me what it would be in and after telling him multiple times that one more roll and two salad wouldn't fit in this same bag he got huffy and said well fine I'll call and have them refund you. So now one of my kids doesn't have food they will eat and my pregnancy craving of ginger dressing is worse! read more

We have been to U-Yee Shushi several times and have always ordered rolls. the rolls are terrific. Last night we decided to try a hot dinner. I ordered Chicken & Shrimp Stir Fry, my husband ordered Steak and Shrimp Stir Fry. Each comes with salad, stir fry vegetables and Fried Rice. The salad consisted of a small bowl of iceberg lettuce with one piece of cucumber. The stir fry had a generous portion of shrimp and chicken. However the vegetables were not stir fried, they were re-heated and some were cold. The rice was not what we know as fried rice, it was also reheated white rice. The meal was only moderately warm, not hot at all. There was very little seasoning , I used sriracha sauce to make it moderately interesting. Overall, very disappointing. read more

Visiting from NJ - and making the point to visit some to get ideas of favorite places so we are not starting from scratch when we move down. Anyway, we love good Sushi and have a place in NJ that we would want to find here in Lakewood Ranch and we definitely found it in U-Yee. The atmosphere is lovely, our waitress Nikki was super friendly and so prompt with any request of more water, more tea, hey can we order Saki etc. we shared the edemame which was prepared perfectly with a great sharing portion. We had the Sashimi regular with the Miso (miso was perfect- which is always a good benchmark). It came with 3 slices of each : tuna, white tuna, salmon, red snapper, escolar. The slices of sashimi were on the larger side and so fresh and delicious. Then we ordered 4 rolls (did I mention we had skipped lunch!) Pink Lady, lucky Dragon, tiger roll, and Lakewood Ranch roll. The fish to rice ration was generous and the sauces and various ingredients were so well balanced for the perfect bites. We did not quite finish but we did a good job. The green tea (also a good marker for us) was also excellent! Highly recommend and wanted to add to this group since we appreciate the info you all share so much! I forgot to add a huge thing for us is i hate cucumber so we always tell people "No cucumber not even as decoration" (not a big mystery how that second part came about) and she made a huge note and not a single cucumber was near our plate!
