This place is straight fire. I went with a party of 4 and the owner created a sashimi/roll platter for us to share so we could try everything. The warm sake was flowing and the food kept coming - we didn't even know what we were eating but everything was incredible. The Dragon Ball and Hawaiian Salmon were my favorite, however you cannot go wrong with anything on the menu. To top it off, this place is highly affordable for the portions. A must eat!!! Cannot recommend this place enough. read more

So impressed by this hidden gem! I stopped in for their maki lunch special (3 rolls for $18) and was blown away by the freshness. Their rice to fish ratio is perfect. Their ingredients are high quality and the sushi chef is legit. It's a cozy spot and the server is so friendly. Yellowtail jalapeño roll: 9/10 Incredible freshness and spicy floral combination Salmon avocado: 9/10 The salmon was fatty and decadent and it was incredible White tuna roll: 8/10 Delicious! Just tasted a tad less fresh than the other fish. I highly recommend visiting Hoshi to grab some sushi! read more

Best hidden gem! We are RAAAVINGG about this place! All you need to know is Christmas roll. Wonderful melange of flavors from yuzu and black truffle with salmon belly and tuna belly. Unreal! 5++++++++++++ stars!!!! The owner and sushi chef hails from New York and was trained by a Japanese sushi chef and some other spots and it shows. The rolls on the menu are for the masses, so if you want something special he can do so much more. Sarasota you are so lucky!!!! read more

What a gem of a find! We had vegetable tempura appetizer, edamame, salmon skin roll, and a few other rolls. Everything was prepared fresh. Lots of flavor. It's more of a take-out, than dine-in place, but could be why it's so reasonably priced. I could easily order from here a few times a week! read more

Stopped here for date night and was blown away. For appetizers we had the Gyoza and Shumai and the flavor was on point and I already knew we were in for a treat. Our server was the owner and she was so polite and not overbearing. I had 3 rolls, one was tuna, and the other two were special house rolls. I savored every bite. Would recommend to any sushi lover you will not be disappointed. Will be coming back here for sure read more

Wow this is my new favorite sushi spot in siesta key. All of the rolls were AMAZING. it was in a shopping center a little hidden but I'm so glad we found it. We walked in and the waiter was friendly even while it was pretty busy. There was about 6 other tables. The restaurant is smaller with a bar to sit at. The pink lady was by far my favorite roll. It was so easy to eat and soooo tasty. The dynamite roll was harder to eat because it was so stacked and was fried - so good. We will be making our way back here to have some more before we leave our trip! read more

I've been here twice now for lunch. The first time I got the chirashi and the second time I got the sushi lunch special (5 sushi and Cali roll with miso soup). The fish is fresh but I was saddened when I didn't get any type of pickled veg with my chirashi. It was a glorified sashimi lunch special at dinner price. Buy my wife loved her salmon lunch special and the second meal was much more satisfying to me. She ordered the three tool special and both our meals were very good What I especially like is they use just a little rice and not alot. I prefer sushi and maki that way rather than eating 5 pounds of rice with my sushi and/or maki. read more

Hoshi Sushi has quickly become our favorite sushi restaurant in Sarasota. The number one factor is the quality and freshness of the fish. The second factor is the service. Star serves the food with utter joy. Ask her for her opinion and she will always point you in the right direction. She genuinely cares about the experience of her customers. The quality is also very consistently high week after week. Give this little gem a try and you will not be disappointed. Highly recommended. read more

The best sushi in Sarasota and the service is on another level there! Everyone who came into the restaurant was treated like family, and you could tell that there were a number of repeat customers by the way they interacted with the host. Everything is so fresh at Hoshi Sushi--the nigiri, sashimi, and rolls. The spicy tuna roll has just the right amount of spiciness and these little tempura crispies mixed in with the fish--I didn't know that I needed this in my life. I may or may not have eaten my weight in spicy tuna rolls while in Sarasota. Oh! Get a side order of their fried rice. It is SO good that none of us wanted to share with each other. We mostly stuck with sushi and the fried rice, and loved every meal we had from Hoshi Sushi. read more

The food flavor and presentation was amazing! Service was great and very friendly. Everything appeared very clean and smelled good in the restaurant. Highly recommend the New York roll! Not much to look at from the outside, nor the inside for that matter. My wife and I stopped by for lunch and ordered 2 meals, Sashimi and then a Sashimi and Sushi lunch. Afterwards we started ordering individual rolls because we noticed that during lunch hours you can get 2 rolls for $11 or 3 for $14. We only drank water while there as well. Presentation was nice for each of the platters. After ordering 2 Spicy Tuna rolls, I went to order a third and was told by the owner that I couldn't get the lunch special rate on the rolls, because I didn't tell him ahead of time of my intentions, regardless of informing him after I started ordering the rolls. We are going to have a really hard time convincing ourselves to go back there after this incident. Very unprofessional and NOT customer focused!!! The Sashimi pieces were really small too, perhaps 1.5" x 0.5" x 0.25" pieces. Rather skimpy with the fish to be honest. $50 later plus tip we walked out of there, all though flavorful, DEFINITELY not worth the price we paid!!!! read more

My boyfriend and I were visiting from California and were in the mood for sushi. We could not have been more impressed by TJ (our host server) and Hoshi sushi. Our edamame was made fresh to order and served steaming hot! Wow, we don't get that at home. We ordered "out of control" roll and "angel hair roll". Both were outstanding to the point we barely talked while eating haha.. The miso soup was tasty and served hot as well. This charming small restaurant is welcoming and comfortable and the black tablecloths were an unexpected lovely touch. I HIGHLY recommend this place to anybody. We took more soup "to go" and can't wait to come back on our next trip. Thanks Hoshi Sushi! read more

RUDE!!!! Came in with a party of five for a birthday dinner and immediately got told that he couldn't accommodate us and to come back in an hour. Mind you, there were plenty of seats and tables available in which he said he will not push them together because that's "not how they work..." another party of 5 had just walked in and sat perfectly fine. If we walked in with a party of 2 and party of 3, he could have easily sat that amount of people... definitely not how you treat customers! Incredibly rude with his words. read more

This place is really great! It opened late so a perfect stop for us after a long day at the theme park. One of the few spots that serve Unagi Don. The service was top notch, our server was super attentive. He made us practice/kid chopsticks so my kids were able to eat with chopsticks as well. The food was amazing. The rice was perfect.
