Stopped here for date night and was blown away. For appetizers we had the Gyoza and Shumai and the flavor was on point and I already knew we were in for a treat. Wow this is my new favorite sushi spot in siesta key. All of the rolls were AMAZING. it was in a shopping center a little hidden but I'm so glad we found it. We walked in and the waiter was friendly even while it was pretty busy. There was about 6 other tables. The restaurant is smaller with a bar to sit at. The pink lady was by far my favorite roll. It was so easy to eat and soooo tasty. The dynamite roll was harder to eat because it was so stacked and was fried - so good. I've been here twice now for lunch. The first time I got the chirashi and the second time I got the sushi lunch special (5 sushi and Cali roll with miso soup). The fish is fresh but I was saddened when I didn't get any type of pickled veg with my chirashi. It was a glorified sashimi lunch special at dinner price. Buy my wife loved her salmon lunch special and the second meal was much more satisfying to me. She ordered the three tool special and both our meals were very good What I especially like is they use just a little rice and not alot. Everyone who came into the restaurant was treated like family, and you could tell that there were a number of repeat customers by the way they interacted with the host. Everything is so fresh at Hoshi Sushi--the nigiri, sashimi, and rolls. The spicy tuna roll has just the right amount of spiciness and these little tempura crispies mixed in with the fish--I didn't know that I needed this in my life. I may or may not have eaten my weight in spicy tuna rolls while in Sarasota. Oh! Get a side order of their fried rice. It is SO good that none of us wanted to share with each other. Not much to look at from the outside, nor the inside for that matter. My wife and I stopped by for lunch and ordered 2 meals, Sashimi and then a Sashimi and Sushi lunch. Afterwards we started ordering individual rolls because we noticed that during lunch hours you can get 2 rolls for $11 or 3 for $14. We only drank water while there as well. Presentation was nice for each of the platters. After ordering 2 Spicy Tuna rolls, I went to order a third and was told by the owner that I couldn't get the lunch special rate on the rolls, because I didn't tell him ahead of time of my intentions, regardless of informing him after I started ordering the rolls. We are going to have a really hard time convincing ourselves to go back there after this incident. Very unprofessional and NOT customer focused!!! The Sashimi pieces were really small too, perhaps 1.5" x 0.5" x 0.25" pieces. Rather skimpy with the fish to be honest. $50 later plus tip we walked out of there, all though flavorful, DEFINITELY not worth the price we paid!!!! read more

My boyfriend and I were visiting from California and were in the mood for sushi. We could not have been more impressed by TJ (our host server) and Hoshi sushi. Our edamame was made fresh to order and served steaming hot! Wow, we don't get that at home. We ordered "out of control" roll and "angel hair roll". Both were outstanding to the point we barely talked while eating haha.. The miso soup was tasty and served hot as well. This charming small restaurant is welcoming and comfortable and the black tablecloths were an unexpected lovely touch. I HIGHLY recommend this place to anybody.
