I had to go to Buffalo Eye Care to see an Ophthalmologist. When I called to try to make an appointment asap, they were able to accommodate me even though they said the Doctor was booked solid. I spoke with a receptionist at 11:30 am & had to be there by 1:00pm . I got there a little early . They have a nice big parking lot, so that was a plus. Inside is very spacious. They have two doors, one to go into the ophthalmology department, and one to go into the eye care store, where you buy your glasses. They have really cool lighting inside, and the whole office plus store just looks really nice. There were three receptionist working, which was very handy because someone else was there before me being taken care of already, so I got to get taken care of right away as well. I got called into the back in just a few minutes, took an eye test told the nurse or technician the problems that I was having with my eye, and thankfully, it's nothing she hasn't heard before. That was a big relief. Then I had to go see the ophthalmologist. It was a short wait. He was very nice, very talkative, explained everything I needed to know. Give me an eye exam, a real exam with the lights in the eyes and the machine and all that stuff. And was able to diagnose what was wrong with my eye. He told me what was going to happen eventually, what was happening now, and what I would have to do in the near future. Explain things very well and in easy terms, that anybody can understand, thank God. Lol. Everybody was so nice there. I had to deal with two receptionists, one nurse/technician and the ophthalmologist, and they were all so friendly and so nice. The whole place inside is very clean and decorated nicely. They seem to have a large variety of glasses, way more than a place that I go to now has. I have to go back in a month, and I do not regret having to go back because it was a good experience. I would definitely refer anybody I know to come here for your Eye Care needs. read more

If I could give a 2.5 on this place I would because I'm so iffy on my experience. I've taken my elderly father (84) twice now and both times find staff to be unpleasant (with the exception of the ladies who do the exams and tests prior to the ophthalmologist- namely Melinda, she was amazing!). They don't have automatic doors or a handicap button which makes getting a wheelchair in and out of two sets of double doors, extremely difficult, and no one has ever offered to help but will just sit and watch us struggle. Dr. Gulati says all the right stuff like hello and have a nice day but his delivery and flat and unbothered. The place inside is clean and quiet. Hoping I can leave a better review at his annual visit next year. read more

I've been going here every 6 months for the past few years. I've never had any issues. The staff is always friendly and helpful. The nurses and doctors are courteous and explain things well. I see Dr. Gulati and I appreciate that he is efficient with our time (we all have things to do) but he never seems abrupt or rushed. I'm going in for basic eye exams and have not had any more significant procedures done. But if I needed them, I would feel comfortable here. read more

Had a appointment today. Temp at door, questions about COVID-19, shields up at reception desk, seats spaced out. Everyone masked up. Bottom line I was seen by the doctor !! He is very safe and checked my eyes out completely. He talks and asks you questions, make sure your are taking care of your eyes. I will be back in 6 months. Where do I begin... The staff and doctor is very rude. They mail you threatening letters for copayment, As if I'm running away from $45? The tone in the letter is belittling and is super unprofessional. You don't deserve my business or $1 of my fee. Besides the threatening letters (for FORTY FIVE DOLLARS), they service sucked! They told me to come in 1 day for an eye exam, and make the same exact appointment 3 days later. Just another way to keep billing your insurance and robbing for copay. read more

I first went here in March of 2008 to get an eye exam, new contacts and new glasses (frames and lenses). (thank you awesome vision coverage!) Overall my experience was very pleasant. The service is excellent, the selection is great. Due to an ever-changing eye prescription, I had to get 2 sets of lenses ground until I could see clearly. This was not a problem AT ALL for the office. **They want to make sure they get your prescription right, and that you leave the office satisfied.** Of the two eye doctors, I recommend Dr. Francesco Barbarosa. Dr. Gulati is an MD, rather than an OD (???), so I got the impression that he had much more to worry about than giving little ole' me an eye exam. He's more concerned with slicing and dicing up people's eyeballs. Dr. Barbarosa is quite thorough in his examination and explanation of what he's doing and why. His "bedside manor" (for lack of a better term) is excellent. Very willing to answer any questions that you may have. That is something that I place great value on, in my interactions with medical professionals. On the cosmetic side of things...the Optical Store is attached to the eye center. The staff is great. Very friendly! The Optical Store is where the frames are located along with the ophthalmologists who, among many other things, help in fitting you with your frames. They carry many of the well known lines (Prada, D&G, Ray Ban, Juicy Couture, Gucci, Etc...) along with several lesser knows European lines. I chose, with some wonderful help, a sharp plastic frame from the brand Spectacle Eyeworks. It's a Canadian company whose designer is known for his edgy, out-there looks. I love my glasses and get compliments on them all the time. I can't say much about what insurance they accept. I have VCP (I think that's what it's called) and they take it--no problem. read more

Had an eyelid tuck a couple of years ago with Dr. Barbarossa. He did a horrible job and I can still see the scar on my right eye!! Such a condescending attitude and I don't recommend him at all! My eyelids need to be done over! Big mistake with this idiot!! The only good thing about this place is the waiting room! read more

I really wish I could rate Buffalo Eye Center with ZERO stars because I feel so strongly that they are the worst business I've ever had the displeasure of dealing with. Came here because it is very close to my home so I got an eye exam by a creep who kept asking personal questions which was uncomfortable and he was going to order me some contacts to try out as I've had bad luck with comfort in the past. A month passed and I never heard from them regarding the contacts so I called the office and they tried to tell me I was calling the wrong business because I wasn't even in their system! They said they would get back to me about this "misunderstanding" which they never did until I called them. They acted like the whole me not being in their system never happened and said that I could come pick up my contact samples. I specifically asked if I needed an appt or if I could just come in and grab them and I was told to just come in and grab them. When I came to "grab them and go" I was told I couldn't and that I needed an appointment. So I reluctantly made an appointment to come back, but was then chased down on my way out by another staff member who said I could actually take the contacts with me (like I was originally told on the phone!!!!). I then had to make an appointment to come discuss with the Dr. what I thought of the samples etc..I was told this was a quick process and that he will just come out and talk to me in between patients although I did have a set appointment time. Well, when that day came I sat waiting for 30 mins (while watching the Dr. walk by several times) and was finally put in a room where I could hear the Dr. giving someone a full eye exam. At this point I was no longer waiting for this "quick discussion". I told the receptionist I was no longer waiting and she gave me an attitude like they were doing ME a favor "squeezing" me in between patients. Taking my business elsewhere as these people are truly incompetent and I refuse to give them any more of my time or money. I hope this organization does not last, and I honestly don't know how it will with the way they do business. Good riddance. read more

I would like to say that Buffalo Eye Center's business practice is unethical.I will start out by saying that there are to many receptionist's that work there that sit around and do nothing.2nd when i went up and signed in they asked me for my insurance card and i gave it to them.Then they tell me my deductible was not met and that i would have to pay the full amount of the visit,I told them my deductible was met and they kept on telling me it didn't say that on there computer.So i was ready to walk out and this one lady out of 4 says to me we can settle for 20% for now and if there is a difference you will be billed,so i said fine.They charged me more the 20% when checking out and when i got home i checked my insurance website account and called them also to see about my deductible and it was met way before i went to Buffalo Eye Center.So what the hell is going on?Now they owe me a refund and if i never called them maybe i would not get one at all. read more

I went to the Buffalo Eye Center many years ago and recently figured I'd give it a try again. About 20 days ago I went here for a contact fitting and did not receive that. I told the front desk and my nurse that I simply needed a new prescription for my contacts and my contact fitting. After the exam I called to get my new prescription sent over so I could buy my contacts. When my prescription was faxed, we realized that it was a glasses prescription. I called my insurance and they couldn't help me because they already paid for my annual eye appointment. After talking to the front desk I was told I would have to pay out of pocket and come back and have a contact fitting. I explained that's the only reason I went there in the first place and told the front desk and nurse and they had no sympathy. Absolutely terrible customer service. I am still going through the trouble of getting my new contacts. I have never written a review and hate giving negative feedback but felt it necessary so it doesn't happen to anyone again.
