Because they allow the dogs to interact with one another, and because they don't monitor what is going on, our dog was attacked by another dog and killed. I found out after that happened to another friend of ours, where their dog was attacked but survived. And just today I found out that it happened again to someone else's dog. This place might be 5 minutes away from my apartment, but I would rather take my money and spend it elsewhere. During our January session, my pup's cut was awful. His fur was uneven, his face was stinky, and he was absolutely terrified in the car. I knew it was too good to be true when Buffalo Barks called me half an hour later telling me he was ready to be picked up after I dropped him off. I've been to multiple grooming salons where it takes at least 90+ minutes. That was my first bad experience. Second bad experience: I had made a grooming appointment on Friday March 6th. I show up and the guy tells me that he "called me and left a voicemail" stating that the groomer was out sick. I didn't receive a voicemail and rescheduled for Sunday March 15th. I showed up at 3:30pm which was our scheduled appointment and the place was closed. I called them the next day on Monday March 16th and the guy told me, "Yeah, we closed at 3pm yesterday because no one else was coming in." I literally saw this guy write my name down in his calendar. They obviously didn't thoroughly check their calendar. I rescheduled for that Thursday March 18th only for him to call me back and cancel my appointment TWICE. I eventually just let them pick a time for Thursday because I needed my pup cut ASAP. Mind you, he was supposed to get his hair cut on 3/6 and he was scheduled to go on 3/19- almost 2 whole weeks later. My dog is a shih tzu and his fur grows fast! I have no clue what happened to this place. I had a great experience the first few times I took my pup there. I ended up scheduling a grooming appointment at Dog Days of Buffalo where they took my pup the next day. I called Buffalo Barks to cancel my appointment and they had the audacity to ask me if I wanted to reschedule. I told them no thank you! I rather learn how to cut my dog's hair than go back to that place again. read more

Very happy with the care our dog, Dylan, receives here. I enjoy seeing the videos of the dogs playing throughout the day. How David keeps track of all their names is beyond me but, for each video, he calls them all out by name. BB is very flexible on drop off/pick up times, prices are reasonable and there are periodic promotions and loyalty cards that provide good discounts. The staff is very friendly and regularly gives me updates on how Dylan is doing, as he's still relatively new there. I also LOVE the grooming service. UPDATE: David, the owner, did reach out and refund the money back to us for the cost of boarding Finn, which was appreciated. I wish him well & hope this was an isolated incident. Let me first start with saying that Buffalo Barks came recommended and I was eager to give them a go. I appreciated Dave's initial tour and his seemingly deep passion for the dogs in his care. Our dog was adopted only weeks before we started looking into doggy daycare and we have an older dog that never needed it so this was a new situation for us. We dropped him off twice for daycare and he was returned to us exhausted and happy. We felt confident leaving him with them for multiple days as we had a trip planned that we couldn't change. We dropped Finn Sunday morning and picked him up Tuesday evening. When I picked him up no one said anything about behavior or wounds until I was at the outside gate and then Cheryl showed me that he had two bite marks on both ears. They looked crusty and gross but dogs are rough so I accepted it and moved on. We got Home and after an hour noticed Finn licking his inner legs and come to find out, he had two decent size "sores" on the inside of each leg. I was pretty upset and the next day reached out to Dave. He spoke with the staff and informed us that it was probably due to an extreme "humping" situation. I wasn't thrilled but again, let it go. The next day, I found another "sore" on him and began to get more frustrated. Within a few days Finn was noticeably coughing, had green snot out his nose and was not his normal playful self. I took him right away to the vet and the vet informed me that while he was vaccinated for kennel cough, it doesn't protect against all strains. So, ok, we got antibiotics and moved on. He could catch that anywhere and while he didn't go to the dog park that week, we could only assume he contracted it from Buffalo Barks. Now, for Cheryl to be telling us that "there is no way he could have gotten it at daycare" was grossly dismissive. How on earth can you be sure of that? Dogs catch it anywhere! We weren't upset about that. What upset us was that she was so hell bent on defending the business that she forgot to remember the business she's in. OF COURSE ITS POSSIBLE a dog got kennel cough while surrounded by 30 other dogs in close proximity and my vet confirmed that. It deeply concerns me that she's so very uneducated and it puts others at risk. My other issue is that while his wounds are healing, the vet was baffled by them and stated they seemed more like burns and was baffled by the notion of a "hump fest" causing that and really didn't see it as a rational possibility. So, what did exactly happen to my dog to cause not one, not two, but FIVE sores within 3 days - 3 of which were not disclosed to us but rather we had to question them about..? Now, we called today after the vet visit and wanted to discuss things and see what can be done as we did want the best and wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt considering the reviews (although if you go back a ways you'll see there is so concern about Cheryl putting a dog she adopted down without returning it to the adoption agency) but instead we were met with hostility and defense. My thoughts are basically that this place can be great if you're not a concerned parent and are fine with your dog free roaming with 30 other dogs and less than adequate staff. One or two guys for that many dogs seems like a situation for concern but hey, that's on y'all. Many of the other daycares I've researched offer structure, "naps" and WELL TRAINED staff. Many also have a cap on how many dogs to staff ratio is acceptable. I'm not saying I know all but I can tell you that for a fact, Cheryl is less than educated with how to run things. I hope Dave realizes that and put his business first which is a business caring for people's fur-family members. I hope no one else has to endure what we have and while we gave them a chance based on recommendations- I'm shocked at how we have been treated when expressing genuine concern for our dog while he was in their care. If nothing else, I can only hope that this information provides others with an educated and concerned review to consider before entrusting your dog with them. At a glance, Buffalo Barks seems great but when faced with adversity and concern, Cheryl quickly shows her lack of competence and empathy. I hope this prompts some necessary changes that could keep Dave's business afloat as I'm sure it's a matter of time before things happen to other dogs and people begin to see the cracks in the foundation. read more

STAY AWAY AT ALL COSTS. We boarded our dog here for 2 nights and 3 days and when we got him back had dried crusted blood on both of his ears, an open sore on his back and abrasions on his inner thigh. Few days later had full on kennel cough (he had all vaccines for this). so not only did it cost the money to board him but also the vet visit and medication. I let the owners wife know, and she calls me back to tell me I'm wrong and its not their fault and they are not responsible for any of the damages per the waiver that was signed. never offered any realistic solution. this isn't how you do business! we took him to the vet and the vet determined that injuries were cause for concern for having left him at a doggie daycare. He said the thigh abrasions/marks look like burns -he was so concerned he took pictures to research further on vet message boards. wonderful. this place is overcrowded with dogs per square footage, the play area is just a bunch of rocks and concrete. they have these small ghetto pools that the dogs "swim" in. honestly, the price is cheap and its overcrowded because people like me were looking for a value. YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR! i believe that this place should be investigated for overcrowding their facility with too many animals for the staff on hand at any given time - which is usually ONE person who isnt really even qualified to do so. I'll be honest here - we gave them a chance to make it right and if there was any semblance of good faith, or apology, or compensation or condolences or an explanation or ANYTHING in a positive direction, we would have maybe considered another chance, but the woman called and just started telling me how wrong i am and how they aren't responsible and how they don't have any means of compensating for my dogs pain and their failure to keep him safe. she showed her true colors as a business owner, and with that kind of practice i don't think this place will be around for that much longer. look at the other reviews. I will say that Dave is pretty level headed and a good guy to talk to - i trusted him with my animals, but he wasn't there while my dog was boarded and this is what I ended up with. Dave - do your own customer service from now on. My family and my pack comes first, so this isn't personal - I paid for a service for you to keep my dog safe and in good hands, and I got him back far worse than when I left him and with additional vet bills. check your messages, and you can see that I tried to settle this amicably before going public. There is NEVER AN EXCUSE to have my pet returned to me with bleeding open sores, chaffed or burned inner thighs, kennel cough, and bloody crusted up ears. We had such a great experience! We knew our girl would be fine but not all daycares allow you to do day of drop off and we were so glad they did. We are on a road trip from California and sometimes the pup can't come! So it was nice to have a great loving place for her to hang out while we explored Niagara Falls. Very poor daycare facility. They let the dogs play with no supervision whatsoever. Every day we came to get our dog they only ever said negative things about him. It ended the day they tried to tell us our almost 50lb dog apparently "attacked" and hurt a chihuahua. We asked the standard questions and were given zero answers. Why was my dog who is very energetic in the same area as a tiny chihuahua? Why were they not supervised? Even a simple question like was the other dog ok was not answered. Before that day and in the months since my dog has never once been aggressive with another dog and has been in another daycare facility with no issues. We pulled him out of Buffalo Barks and now that we go to a reputable daycare we see the huge difference. Would never recommend this place. read more

I have been sending my dog to Buffalo Barks for around a year. I cannot say enough about their staff and the facilities. David and his people are so great with the pups. We usually send our dog weekly, but he's also been there for overnight stays, and he always comes back totally normal and happy. We have never had an issue with any other dogs at the daycare, either. Our dog has never come home with cuts or anything. There was one time where our pup got a little sassy with another dog, but the staff separated them immediately and made sure to tell me at pick up time. They have weekly specials, contests, and even goodies for the dog mom and daddies sometimes. Would highly recommend! read more

The place seemed nice, I tried here for day care a few days a week, I feel they have a lot of dogs for too little staff. My 60lb pointer came home with multiple cuts around his ears and legs, I spoke to the owner and staff and they were not sure how this happened. Since it's Happy National Pet Day I thought it was only fitting to pay tribute to my 5 month old baby Oakley. Oakley was killed while attending doggy daycare at Buffalo Barks on Military Rd in Tonawanda while all the dogs were playing outside in the yard with no supervision what so ever. My puppy was attacked and left out in the yard where he bleed to death before someone decided to check on them and found him dead. My dog has been to a few daycares in the area, and this one is by far the best! The prices are reasonable, the staff is friendly, and my dog absolutely loves it! I travel often and they are always able to accommodate my pup, even last minute. The owner is almost always there, he always greets Arthur with a smile. My dog has a hard time calming down when he's excited, and the owner never scolds him for jumping. I've never worried about my pup when I'm away because I know he's in good hands. The Barking Lounge has proved to be a caring, safe place for Q-Bert to burn off some energy and get socialized at the same time. The owners are so great and they really take a personal interest in each dog. When Q-Bert got fixed and couldn't attend, they even called to check on him! They are genuinely good people. Q has spent the night there and I know he was cozy because a person actually spends the night with him. They go above and beyond. The prices are great compared to others in the area. We've been sending our boxer puppy here since he was old enough to go to day care, for about 5 months now and I have NO complaints. Even when he started as a small puppy we never had to worry about him while he was at daycare (playing with MUCH larger dogs by the way). He is always excited to go to day care, even from the time we grab his leash in the mornings, he knows exactly where he is headed and at the end of the day when we pick him up, he is lucky if he makes it home before he falls asleep! We have tried out a few day cares but no where else seems as clean or as friendly as Buffalo Barks, they treat our puppy like their own and we are confident that our boy is being well taken care of when he's with them. read more

My dog loved visiting with them, and I was impressed by their facility. Unfortunately, my dog was bitten by another dog while there and that is where I had a less that stellar experience. The owners seemed so afraid of being sued by either myself or the other dog's owners that they essentially stopped cooperating all together. I never requested reimbursement for vet bills as I fully understand the waiver signed when I brought my dog there, but I was shocked that they did not intend to share with me the contact information of the other owner! After several days of going back and forth with them and finally having to sign a release to share my contact information they were still unresponsive until I took to their facebook page-which they promptly blocked me from- with pictures of my dogs injuries and a more public request for information. Within a few hours I was able to quickly resolve the issue with the other owners. Further, I never heard from them at all wondering how my dog was doing after leaving with deep puncture marks, which makes me wonder how much they really cared. It's a shame, because had this issue been handled differently, I would have loved to continue bringing my dog to play and stay with them. Please note that I do not believe my dog's injuries to be their fault and do not question the care they provided, my frustration is simply at their poor handling of an issue that, in this line of business, I would expect them to have a better procedure for. read more
