Buff & Tweeze is a reasonably priced nail salon. I am not a regular there, more like a couple times a year. I go more often if I have a lot of special occasions. It's nice for me to be able to call in and make an appointment. They can always tell me who I saw last and if they are available. Some of the clients only go to one individual but I find each manicurist knows what they are doing. My last appointment, I wanted to do one of the designs I found online. I was able to discuss it with the manicurist and she suggested a less 3-D version so it would last longer. I have to pick up boxes and move items for my job so the suggestion was on target for me. I wish I could remember her name but she did a wonderful job and my gel manicure and the design lasted for a month. read more

I've been coming here for a lot of years. Mostly for mani/pedi's and sometimes for waxing. I've always been happy and tip generously. However, the last time I was there, (a few weeks ago) I got my mani/pedi. It was done in record time but I didn't think too much about it. The worst part is, when I went to the counter to pay, the "gentleman" asked if I had Venmo and/or Zelle as they don't take debit/credit cards. I explained that I have always used my card for the service and tip in cash. He was rude and loud so everyone in the salon knew what was going on. I went to the esthetician's (owner) door to say hi but she wouldn't even look my way. (She'd heard everything) I'll never go back! read more

I know this is a new business and I hate writing bad reviews, particularly for mom and pop owned places, but this one I couldn't let go.... I'm driving on Foothill Blvd. thinking I'll go to any one of my usual nail places in La Crescenta but happened to notice the new place in the Starbucks/Shanto's Bakery/T-Mobile shopping center and decide to give it a shot. The manicurists were all really nice and all but the quality of work was so subpar, I was left speechless afterward... I walk in and ask for a really small trim, square shaped with a red polish and end up leaving with literally no nail left on my left hand and a just a tiny bit on my right hand, both hands with the edges rounded and gooped on red nail polish. When she finished with my right hand I looked at my hands in horror and said I wanted them to be rounded so she proceeded to file off MORE nail to get it to be square but there was literally no nail left.... To make a horrible situation even worse, she put on my red nail polish as if she was applying a paste. My brother could have done a better job. Oh and let's not forget that she clipped my toenail at an angle so it came out looking crooked...sweet Jesus, how much worse can it get?! I came home and wiped the nail polish off and realized she hadn't even put on a BASE COAT! The red nail polish turned all my nails red.....wow. WOW. Sorry Buff & Tweeze....the $28 I paid for my mani and pedi was probably the worst $28 I had spent in a long while. read more

Completely unacceptable!!! Don't advertise eyebrow threading if your staff can't thread. 1. $18 for threading is far more expensive than any other place I know even the mall. 2. If you truly know how to thread the string doesn't break time and time again nor do you completely cut someone's skin! 3. I have cuts all over my skin and scabs days later. Completely awful . read more

Love coming to this nail salon....Tracy and Tina are my go to nail techs!!! Tracy does an amazing job with gel manicures while Tina does an amazing job with pedicures. The following images are Tracy's work (before and after). My old gel manicure lasted over 2 weeks while I used to find that they would break and chip off. If you want gorgeous nails with fantastic designs for a reasonable price, definitely check out Buff & Tweeze! Every time I bring in a picture of a design (I collect nail design pics from Pinterest), they always manage to outdo themselves. [Lana can free hand any design and make it look better than the original picture!] I have had several strangers ask to take pictures of my nails so they can get my designs recreated. I got my first gel mani/pedi at Buff & Tweeze in December of 2013 for my college roommate's wedding; an old coworker recommended them to me as I had not stepped foot a nail salon in probably almost a decade. Ever since that first visit, I was immediately addicted! I'm now a Buff and Tweeze regular! I usually see Tania and Tina checking in clients and booking appointments (love them!), but everybody who works the front desk is great. They're all willing to help find colors and give their opinions on modifying designs to best fit my nails and personal style. Also, when the salon is really busy, they're always willing to lend a hand anywhere they can - whether it be helping with gel removals, cleaning stations, etc. I always get gels, which are notorious for destroying your nails. Since I started getting my gels at Buff & Tweeze, my nails are actually stronger - and they grow so quickly! There are several nail salons significantly closer to my home, but Buff & Tweeze is definitely worth the drive...So go treat yourself to a mani/pedi ASAP - you'll thank me! ;-) Here's a couple tips for you when you check them out: 1. Make an appointment. They do their best to accommodate walk-ins, but they get pretty busy during the weekends, especially during wedding and prom season. 2. If you want a great hand massage, get your manicure done by Aaron...He's fab! 3. Expect your gels to last about 2-3 weeks (mine last that long and I'm extremely rough with my hands). 4. Check them out on Instagram! They hold contests where you can win gift certificates and they advertise fun events like girls' nights (with wine!). been going to them for decades, as a loyal customer it's sad that Dian is not there anymore!!! i think she was one of the bests who really did the best job of all... i'm not sure why isn't she there anymore, but i hope she is ok and i hope she will come back soon. i called to made an appointment with her but i couldn't because she is on leave of absent... i didn't end up booking my appointment with anybody else there because it happened in the past, that when Dian was not available, i had to see Tracy and sad to say that i felt like Tracy didn't care about at all she just wanted to finish the job on my nails and get it over with because she knew that she wasn't my first choice. i must say that, that is very very unprofessional and just rude. all my friends and family book their appointments with Dian. it's so sad that some managers don't value their great employees and they take them for granted. i hope they'll work it out. read more

The pictures of the nail art that buff and tweeze provides looks fabulous! Unfortunately I cannot say the same about my experiences here. 1. Always crowded-- you NEED an appointment. This could be inconvenient for last minute emergencies. 2. Not every nail tech is great. I've had my nails cut so short that it hurt for days! 3. Beverly Hills prices smack in the middle of good ol' La Crescenta. Not cool. Not a fan... Save your time and money. There are much better salons that are also clean and have better customer service in LC. read more

My friend and I made an appointment for 12:45 and did not get seated until 1:15. While we were waiting no one bothered to talk to us or ask us what we were waiting for. Two older women walked in and were seated before me and my friend, who made appointments earlier that morning. The woman at the front desk acted as if she didn't want to be there and was really rude and short when we talked to her. I didn't like the way she talked to her employees. Also when I asked if I could get my eyebrows done she acted as if it was too much effort. If she didn't want my business I would gladly leave. The only reason I stayed was because I had a gift certificate. My pedicure was not that good. I got a lighter color and they didn't get all of my old nail polish off. Some of my old dark nail polish peeked through. Their prices are too high to have this quality of a pedicure. Let's just say I'm not coming here again. read more

I decided to give a new place a try since my regular girl at my other salon doesn't work on Sunday's. I love the nail designs that I see on the Buff and Tweeze instagram, so I really wanted to give them a try. If you are looking for a place that you can feel pampered at, this is definitely not the place for you. I was incredibly bothered the way the nail tech responded to my bitten down nails. I am already self conscious about them, I even told her that I was prior to putting my hands up on the table. I told her I wanted acrylics and regular polish. I had pointed out a color that the girl next to me was using because I liked it, the receptionist told me it was a gel color, the nail tech would not back down with the gels. She kept pushing for me to get gels on top of my acrylics. Finally after the 5th "No!", she asked me why not. Was it really her business why I didn't want gel applied to my acrylics? Reason being, single moms need to budget, the extra money for that exceeded my nail budget, still, that was none of her business. I had asked for a manicure. I noticed that the salon closed at 6 and i had gotten there at 4:45. I am sure she was feeling rushed, so I asked that she just do my cuticles really nice since they were in bad shape. It was, perhaps, the worst cuticle clean up I had ever had on my hands, I actually questioned myself and I was tempted to just get up and walk out and to ask for a refund, they could have taken the acrylics off if they wanted to. The acrylics themselves were not placed nicely. Most are really slanted and are not straight. I had told her that i wanted my nails super short so that they looked natural. Instead of doing what I had asked for, she cut them down to what she felt was super short. I asked her to keep going, she said she still had to file. I was waiting for that file job, she did not file enough. In closing, I'd like to say that this place is small and not very busy. I find the nail techs to be annoying and rushed. I guess a positive thing is that none of my nails have fallen off, so something was done right to my liking. I am just an advocate for making the customer happy when they are paying money to be pampered or to have something of luxury done. I don't think I will ever come back here though. read more

Tracy does such an amazing job with my nails designs! She can do anything and everything from gel to help to acrylic! Ask for her and you won't regret it. Buff and Tweeze is a great place but honestly it's a little pricy. I usually do my nails at another nail salon nearby every two weeks and then come get on special occasion for Tracy to do my nails. read more

Thank you Jennifer for making my first time at Buff and Tweeze very welcoming. Jennifer did a great job with my gel manicure. She took her time to work around my nails, the shape, and the nail art design. Location was easy to find. There was a lot of parking spots. Prices are reasonable. My gel manicure with two designs and regular pedicure was a little over $60. Inside decor was lovely and chic. I did not enjoy seeing the sofas, chairs, and tables dirty with nail polish or whatever it could be. Since I was happy with my service, I will return soon :) read more

First time coming here and I already know I'm going to be a regular. Great customer service and Tina is just so amazing at making it such a welcoming experience. Book an appointment with Tina because they do get busy. I've been to so many nail salons where they rush it and don't really pay attention to detail. Here they really do take their time with your nails so you will definitely leave satisfied. They have an amazing color selection and will help you pick out a color you want. Eyebrow shaping review only! I've never had my nails done here. I called and asked if they had someone who does breading they said yes. I went in she was using tweezers I finally asked her to stop and thread instead she said no I have to do this first. I go twice a month no one ever needs to use tweezers. She continued despite me asking her to stop. I gave 2 stars because my eyebrows don't look terrible. I guess it is called buff and tweeze ‍ read more

Ok i am SO mad. I went here with recommendations I called in the day before to make an appointment to make sure that they can do designs. When I showed up the lady started to work on my nails and then I showed her what I wanted and then she said they could not do that-- it was a SIMPLE design and I am so mad! You can't leave once they started obviously. The women made my nails so crooked and she refused to fix them saying that they looked fine they looked awful. DO. NOT. RECOMMEND. read more

i am actually furious after leaving here. i went in for gel removal and a regular manicure. the employee asked me if i had acrylics when i walked in. that's how long and nice my natural nails were, and perfectly almond shaped. and then they were completely botched. i asked for a little bit of length to be taken off and they were all completely cut off with clippers, straight across. i asked for almond shaped but the damage was done when he cut straight across removing all of my length. my nails look like they were done by a child.. from the painting to the filing to the questionable tools used. an employee was lounging in a massage chair and i could see his dirty bare feet. i didn't wait for my nails to dry because i wanted to run out of there so fast; i knew i had to go home and redo them anyway. this experience ruined my entire day. now i'm left with nubs where my long beautiful nails used to be. read more

Jade has been doing my nails for a couple of years now, she used to be in Covina and I lost track of her for a couple of months, I went to a few places in the same area, and I was always disappointed, as soon as I was able to get in contact with her I told her I needed her to do my nails again, she said she was to far for me to drive. I tried one more places that someone recommended me and I was again disappointed, so I asked for the address of the place she was working at now, this is my second time here, and the first time was 3 weeks ago, before Christmas I took a picture of my nails before I went in to get them done and they were perfect, you could only see they grew, no chipping or peeling as it usually happened when I went to other places, she is the best and I don't mind driving an hour like today because of traffic. read more

Beware acrylic lovers! I've been coming here for two years with no issues, so I am very disappointed to be making this review. I came in wanting a full set with a gel manicure and pedicure. My problems began with my nail tech, Jade. First, she tried taking off my remaining acrylics without soaking them in acetone. I told her that she can't just lift the acrylic up with another plastic nail, but she persisted. I eventually got her to compromise by handing me a BOWL of acetone to dunk my fingers in. She then left me alone for 15 minutes while my nails felt like they were about to burn off. She managed to cut the skin under my nail with a drill, drill into my cuticles multiple times, and not once say sorry until I brought it to her attention. All she did was talk to a male nail tech who was eating next to her tools and playing around with her clean tools meant for me. Disgusting, unsanitary and unprofessional. Only giving an additional star because the pedicure was lovely. Of course, it was done by someone different and if I knew her name I'd mention it. read more

I have been coming to Fida for about 7 years, and I would never trust anyone else with my eyebrows. She is AMAZiNG! my eyebrows look celeb quality every single time! She is SO sweet, and always remembers who I am and what we have talked about. She is MORE than worth the drive if you live far away. She is what quality service is all about. I have also gotten a couple pedicures here, and my friend gets her nails filled here as well, the mani/pedi staff are very good at what they do, and very detail oriented. top quality establishment! read more

I came in here in January because I drove by and needed to get my eyebrows done ASAP for a photo shoot. Absolutely perfect. Couldn't have been happier. My schedule is always crazy and last second, especially between film and modeling jobs, but I need to keep up on getting my face threaded and eyebrows done, and Fida is very accommodating. She even helps me out if I start to break out. I don't know what she uses, but it's like a magic wand. My face has never been clearer. I must say that I'm confused by some of the reviews about waiting for an appointment. Just walk in and say you're here for a waxing, right? Check in for your appointment... if there's a wait, they'll tell you. I go in about every 3 weeks, and I've waited once for maybe 10 minutes. I've also gotten my nails done here. They looked great, and the polish stayed on for a very long time. My nails even got stronger. So why do I keep going here and not any where else? I trust them, especially Fida with my eyebrows. And that's exactly what I need because of my job. read more

I guess her being late was my fault too so even though I was kind, never rude did not yell kept my calm, I was told that I was not allowed to get my nails done there any longer that Kathy said she would no longer do my nails again because my designs take too long and it was to much for her. she made the mistakes and did not properly apply the polish, she admitted that to me. somehow I was to blame, so I'm giving them a one star for their customer service and for telling me not to come back to the shop because my nails take too long and it was to much for her to deal with my nails. I love getting designs and it is her fault that the polish was coming off. I had to get it off my chest. I was so upset I have never been told I could not go back to shop I've gotten designs by her that lasted four weeks never had an issue so all of this was very surprising to me after I was so kind to them. Great tips good laughs and they treat me this way. I guess that's how nail shops do it nowadays they don't like you or your designs are too much for them to deal with they ask you not to come back. Just left a bad taste and felt so humiliated. This polish literally started peeling the same day. I sent her the message and photos not to long after she did them. Horrible experience

Since you claim my "before" picture could have been taken at any time, I am explicitly uploading additional photos of my nails from throughout this year to show a consistent history of my natural nail health. The "before" photo I provided was taken exactly two days prior to my appointment. My natural nails were incredibly strong and long--so much so that your technician explicitly looked at the undersides of my nails during the appointment to verify if they were my real nails or extensions. A tiny bit of gel lifting on two fingers does not change the fact that the rest of my nail beds were perfectly healthy before walking into your salon. Regardless of what base was on my nails, a professional gel removal should never result in raw, painful "rings of fire" and bleeding cuticles. The e-file was used recklessly, and too many layers of my natural nail were taken off. Free cuticle oil and nail strengthener cannot instantly fix over-filed, physically thinned nail beds that now hurt to the touch. I am sharing my experience and this undeniable photo timeline so others are aware of the risks to their natural nail health.

Instead of making clients feel comfortable and taken care of, I've found myself being put in awkward positions simply so the staff can be more comfortable in their own seats. It makes the entire appointment feel tense and unpleasant. They're also ALWAYS in a rush for other clients, but I'm clearly a paying client as well!! Buff & Tweeze in a nutshell: At first this place used to be a great salon, although they were overpriced, their technicians did great jobs and made it worth the price. One of the ladies that worked the front desk was also very nice and friendly. Over the years this place has gone down the toilet. They hire literally anyone, whether or not the nail techs are good at doing nails. They charge for every single thing. Removing gel, cutting your nail, putting a particular brand nail polish on, anything you could possibly think of.. they try and charge you extra for. It's almost impossible to come in and actually pay the price that's listed on their menu. It seems as if they fired all their previous front desk ladies. Because now its only one girl. And she's the owner's daughter. The owner is a older woman who does eyebrows named Fida. And her daughter aka the front desk lady is Tania. She has so much attitude and talks with her nose in the air as if Buff & Tweeze is the world's most amazing salon. She's constantly yelling at the nail techs or talking to them in such a rude way that it makes all the customers in the salon feel uncomfortable. She reads yelp reviews and comments back to them acting as if the customer is lying and that their "records" prove something other than what the customer is saying. I mean what "records" can possibly show that? Unless each nail appointment is individually video taped there is no proof of what anyone says. But if a customer goes out of their way to write a review on yelp that shows just how upset and disappointed they were with the service. The nail techs can do a good job but that's only very few of them and only when they're either having a good day, like the customer personally, or just feel like it. Other than that, there is no telling if your nail tech is actually going to do your nails nice without charging you "extra $3" for practically everything. So many other cheaper salons in la crescenta that do a better job. All you have to do is screen shot buff and tweeze's once in a lifetime nice nails posts off of instagram, and show it to another salon and theyll do it for you. Stay far away from this place unless you don't mind blowing money on ridiculous things and being treated with 0 to little customer service. read more

I went here once and I won't be returning. Sorry ladies, you need way more than talent to keep me coming back to this place. When you walk in, no one greets you. My friend and I had called a day before and made appointments in the evening. We walked in and the two nail ladies working looked up and back down. The owner was in the back room plucking a customer's eyebrows and didn't even acknowledge that my friend and I were just standing there. We started walking around and picked out our nail color. The owner came out 30 MINUTES LATER and asked if we were the appointments at 6. We said yes and she said to pick out our nail color and someone will help us shortly. That's it. No "hello" or "I'm sorry for the wait." AN HOUR LATER my friend and I simply walked out. We drove a few miles down to TJ Nails and even though they were almost closing when we got there, they took us immediately. We were at Buff and Tweeze for one hour just sitting there. One of the girls getting her nails done before us asked if she could have her toes done as well and the owner simply said "No, we don't have time." How unorganized can you be? Very understaffed and the owner is rude. I tell everyone about my experience here. Don't go unless you have absolutely nothing planned the whole day because you might just be in there for that long. read more

I used to come here all the time till I realized how expensive it is. I would spend about 40 dollars on my gels with. Cute design and I would notice that not even a week after they were all ruined! I figured it was because I was a waitress and was always working with my hands, so I gave them the benifit of the doubt. I recently got a new job as a dance teacher (doesn't require any cleaning or washing dishes) so I decided to go treat myself to some gels. I payed 45 dollars to get my nails done they cleaned them up really nicely but any nail place can do that. My gels were perfect that day then 2 days later my gel completely came off. The gels here don't last at all. I get it done somewhere else now and I have them for 2 weeks! I understand they have a policy but how annoying I don't want to have to come back to get them redone I hardly had time to go the first time. read more

By far the worst manicure I have ever gotten. Went in Sunday morning at 10. I picked my color and sat down and a few minutes later I hear someone saying hey hey hey hey. I look up and she's trying to get my attention. Mind you the salon isn't that huge she could have walked over and introduced herself and walked me the chair. Very rough & painful manicure. She herself spoke in her language the entire 30 minutes I was there and that in itself is extremely rude. These salons should have a rule that they can't do that because its not ok. we are now Tuesday 3 days later, my nails are all broken and my polish has completely chipped. I have tried many different places in Los Angeles including Sherman Oaks for my daughter and I to get pampered and by far this is not just the most welcoming place but it's pretty much full service. You can get a mani, gels, designs, A full pedi, scrub etc. and their gels actually last! Their manager Tina is so easy going and Amazing to advise you. They have so many neat and fun designs. I also get my eyebrows waxed and tinted there. They take cash or credit and they also sell nail polishes as well. Everyone is friendly, they have things to drink and munch on. I called and quickly got an appointment (granted 10am on Th may not be coveted time spot) I walked in, friendly receptionist who sent me to pick out the colors and was started on right away for my mani pedi. I must say that I'm confused by some of the reviews about waiting for an appointment. if there's a wait, they'll tell you. I go in about every 3 weeks, and I've waited once for maybe 10 minutes.
