Read the other reviews. You'll get the picture of my experience. Your online booking will not be honored here. The employees behave the way managers and owner's let them. The manager and the owner own the unprofessionalism shown in these reviews. read more

I had a great experience there! This is a small location, in an old building, keep that in mind. The staff was very helpful. No long waits and booked through Priceline. They also have a very friendly company kitty that you can cuddle while you're thereif you like. read more

I beg you!!! Do NOT use this location !!! Extremely long waits, rude agents, movies playing loudly in background, and the place smells like weed! The worst rental car rental experience EVER!!! Go to airport for your rental. As I stand here in line waiting to be seen, I overheard the agent say that they are out of paper! We will NEVER come back!!! I wish for that I could give a tenth of a star! Consider yourself warned!!! read more

All we required of this location was a place to drop off our rental truck after a long move from Ohio. Before the move, I called Budget's customer service and made sure that this location accommodated after-hours drop-off with a secure place to drop-off the keys. When we arrived at the location simply to drop-off the truck, there was no box to be found around the entire building. We had to leave the truck parked in the lot and take the keys back home with us. Then we had to wake up at opening the next day to return the keys. So beware, this location cannot accommodate an after-hours drop-off even if they say it can. read more

If I could give zero stars I truly would. The lack of communication and accountability from this branch is disgusting. When booking you need to tell customers that you only accept major credit cards and not debit cards. Instead they have a small sign on the door stating this. The 2 gentleman there offer no kind of solution, but except traveling over 30 mins to another Budget location. When asking if they can make sure there are cars at the other location before going there, " No. You can call yourself" was the solution. Please do yourself a favor and avoid this low-BUDGET location! read more

Rented a car. Prepaid. Showed up at my rental time. They told me they didn't have a car and to get lost. Told me it wasn't their problem. Not great. By the way one of their guys was going about 30 down an alley and almost hit me trying to walk in so all around not great. read more

Was in town for my family this weekend and had a 3-day rental with Budget. I picked up my rental slightly early, at 2:11pm instead of 2:30. When I returned my car three days later, well within the specified "grace period", I was charged for an additional hour because Budget, without my knowledge or consent - and without being reflected on my agreement printed at the time of pickup, which still listed the return time as 2:30pm at the rate I had prepaid - had changed my "expected" return time to 2:11pm resulting in an additional (incredible) hourly charge of over $30. I have initiated a dispute with my credit card company for the amount and will be filing a complaint with the Office of Consumer Protection in DC. How can you adjust a rental period without informing the consumer or having the adjustment reflected in their printed contract? I have rented with Budget multiple times including for multi-state moves in the past, but this will be my last rental from them after this shockingly consumer-unfriendly behavior. read more

My partner tried to pick up a rental car at 5911 Blair Rd NW, Washington, DC 20011 on July 18 and noted the exceptionally slow service (he arrived 30 minutes ahead of the scheduled pick up time and waited indoors for 60+ minutes before he spoke to an employee), no AC, and no staff wearing masks. The Budget website highlights new safety precautions and partnerships the company is taking at all locations due to Covid-19, but the Blair Rd location left much to be desired and created a deep concern for the actual safety precautions Budget is taking during a pandemic. An employee ended up taking him to a different Budget location to pick up a car... We will not be renting from here again even though it is our neighborhood location. read more

I know other people wrote of having an unpleasant experience but the staff was very professional and nice with me. The car I reserved wasn't available and they gave me a better one. I had a much better experience with the local official Ethan the. National one. The national office SUCKS AND IS INCREDIBLE RUDE! I would rent from them again and recommend them. read more

Do yourself a huge favor, ignore the desperate positive reviews from locals and do not go to this place. I'd say the customer service is post office like but that would be an insult to portal workers. They never bother the check their cars when you turn them in which is very problematic. My wife rented a car in October with no issues we thought. Then we got a letter in December saying that there had been damage to a tire and that they were changing us over $600. We are attempting to dispute this but I am not hopeful. Please do your best to avoid this place and hold on for the Enterprise opening up on New Hampshire. read more

This was my first time renting from this location and it will be the only place I will rent from in the future. Everyone I encountered when I picked up and dropped off was fun, friendly and helpful. in addition to their great customer service, it was much easier and more streamlined to rent from Blair Road instead of Union Station or DCA. Thank you for your help! read more

Reserved in advance and arranged movers. 8:25 am the day of the move and I get a call saying they have no trucks despite having 9 reservations. I called their customer service and they claimed I would hear back about availability in the area within 2 hours. I'm glad I called around and found another company with a truck available since their "inventory specialist" never called. Avoid! Even if you try to rent from them it will most likely fall through! read more

10 months after we completed our rental from this location we received a bill from a collection agent seeking $710 to cover collision repairs to a car we did not rent. read more

I reserved a cargo van a month before the needed date. I arrived at a dump of a store. I had to go looking for any staff. I said I had a reservation for a cargo van. The staff person was surprised since they had not had a van for at least a month?! In fact, they had little to no inventory. The staff person tried calling around to find a vehicle. While waiting for some kind of answer or accommodation, I was able to rent a van at a nearby Uhaul. I told the staff I was leaving. When I emailed Budget with my complaint--the response was "it's summer and we're busy. Sometimes there aren't vehicles"! I was charged a "no show" fee that was credited. What a poor way to run a business. read more

They don't answer the phone or it gets transferred to Avis customer service who have no freaking idea about Budget of Blair Road. You enter your reservation on thehir website and it doesn't recognize the number. What a cluster f#@* read more

A car rental with no cars! This would have been funny if I didn't have a reservation, and it wasn't raining! I waited for an hour and a half for a previously reserved vehicle. Other people in the waiting room had been there for over an hour. Staff was friendly but could not give any information about when vehicles might be ready: Disapointing and frusterating. Offering a discount, or a gas card would have gone a long way to compensate for wasting folks' time! read more

The car they gave me was disgusting. Dirty inside and out with huge nasty stains on both the driver and passenger seats. The check engine light came on as I was driving the car back to the location to drop it off. They also close pretty early on the weekends (4pm) and unlike Enterprise, they do not allow you to drop off the car after business hours. Very inconvenient. read more

Amazing customer service. I rented an SUV for a week while my vehicle was being repaired, and the owner went out of his way to make it easy for me. To begin, when I needed to renew my reservation at the last minute, the process was quick and easy. When I running a few minutes late to return the vehicle because traffic was heavy, he didn't charge me. Also, I left a shopping bag in the car and he made sure I got it back. Overall, I had a pleasant experience and wouldn't rent a car from anywhere else :) read more

DON'T rent from here. Budget made my moving experience a complete nightmare. I reserved a 16 foot truck at least a month before I needed for a one way move. At 6pm the day before my reservation, Jamie called and said they weren't going to have a 16 foot truck available and that he moved my reservation to the Sligo Ave location because they had a 12 foot truck available. When I told him that I reserved a 16 foot truck for a reason and that I needed that size, he said well a truck is better than no truck. I called him Saturday morning to make sure someone didn't return a 16 foot truck and he said no and to just pick up the 12 foot truck and call the Budget Customer Service number to see what they could do for me. I called Customer Service and they said it had to be escalated to an inventory manager and the manger would get back to me in 2 hours. No one ever called me, so 2 1/2 hours later I called back and they told me the same thing. Each time I asked if they could just check another location to see if they had the truck I needed and they said no. I had to rent a truck from u-haul because I did not have time to keep waiting to hear back from budget. A couple hours after I rented the U-haul a budget rep called me and said oh we had a 16 foot truck at a different location and he said he's not sure why Jamie didn't transfer me to that location in the first place. Then I have to go through loops to try to get reimbursed and I keep getting the run around about that. Trust me, so yourself a favor and rent from UHaul. There trucks are way nicer, the process was fast, and it was actually cheaper than budget. NEVER AGAIN will I rent from Budget. read more

This is not a good location. They rarely answer the phone and seem to be understaffed. I also let an item in the car and they gave me the run around about the whereabouts of the car and when it would be back at the location. Do not rent from them! read more

The whole experience was unpleasant. I reserved and paid in advance, and then the counter person refused to allow me to drive b/c my drivers license is a paper i.d. and not a plastic one. He said I could call customer service, which I did. They said that this is NOT a Budget policy (it's not on the contract, so I assumed it was not a Budget policy), and the counter representative told me they are in India and don't know what they're talking about. I asked to cancel the reservation and was told that he could not give me a refund, that I would have to call customer service and fill out some forms. The whole thing was absurd and pretty much the opposite of good customer service. read more

The people here are competent and courteous, it's much easier than dealing with the U-Haul in Takoma Park. They will match pricing and usually have a variety of different sized trucks. read more

Liars and thieves. The guy running this place is a total crook. He's a fast talker that tries to make it seem like he's helping you, but his word doesn't stand up to the test. After waiting over an hour to pick up a truck we had reserved he assured us he would give us unlimited miles for the inconvenience (as he had done one week prior when we rented a truck from him). His system was "having issues" so the paperwork we received was incomplete, but he said he would make a notation. When it was all said and done and we turned in the truck at another location, even after the guy at the other location called him to verify the unlimited miles, he denied that was part of the deal and refused to speak to me over the phone. And that's just the tip of the iceberg -- there were at least 7 people waiting and he kept talking about wanting to kill himself. Seriously, dude -- you'd be doing us a favor. THE WORST. If I could give zero stars I would. read more

Jamie and the rest of the team are awesome. This is the only place I rent cars anymore.

DO NOT BOOK HERE EVER! Would give 0/5 stars if you could. A reservation with them does not ensure that they will have what you selected. We booked over a month in advance and tried to call every day in the week leading up to our truck/trailer reservation to confirm it, and no one answers the phone/you are transferred to Avis customer service (a different company entirely). When we arrived for our 6 pm reservation we were told that "they were out of trucks" and 3 other reservations similar to ours were also screwed. We were told to sit in the lobby (where no one was wearing masks) and wait while other customers were served in front of us and the manager disappeared without offering to intervene. When we nicely inquired as to other options (even offering to drive hours to other locations ourselves), we were bluntly informed "there will be trucks tomorrow." When we responded this was unacceptable as our lease ended that night, we were informed "I guess you have to cancel." The staff was extremely unprofessional, never apologized, and there was zero service recovery offered such as a discount etc. The kicker was that after everything (and frantically on our way to another company), I had to call the national Budget line to cancel my reservation myself to avoid fees. We ended up paying through the roof for another company last minute but honestly it was worth it. As we told them when we left, Budget can "get f*cked." read more

DO NOT rent a car with Budget. I reserved a minivan two months in advance and paid for it in full at the time of my reservation. When I arrived to pick up the car, I was told there were no minivans available (at this location or anywhere in the city). I was then told (over the phone and via email) that Budget would reimburse me for the difference in cost of a new, day-of rental with Dollar Rent-A-Car. The Dollar rental cost me about $206 more than my initial rental with Budget. Budget is now refusing to reimburse me for more than $99 of the difference. The company is poorly run and I have received terrible customer service. read more

I made a reservation online and I received an email confirmation of said reservation. I got a ride to the Budget to drive down to a wedding. No cars available. Not even an "I'm sorry" from the front desk person. "There are some coming in from Dulles" was all I got. That's well over an hour away. If you are a logistics company, you have no excuse not to have integrated inventory & reservation systems. You have even less excuse to not train front desk staff how to pick up the phone and call the current reservation holders and let them know that there is an inventory problem. And don't get me started on the other remote Budget which isn't at National Airport like it says it is. read more

I am so pleased with the service at this Avis-Budget! Over the past several months I rented cars numerous times to visit my mother who was ill. Jamie Jones and his staff were alway so friendly, kind, and accommodating. The cars were always clean and ready to go and pick up/drop off was easy. During a rough time in my life, this shop was so pleasant to deal with, even when I was late returning. Many thanks! read more

I've rented cars here twice, both with advance online reservations. Apparently there is some disconnect with tracking inventory; however, in both cases staff worked it out and I was able to get a mid-size car as requested. And, in both cases, onsite staff were professional and courteous. Also, with the 2nd rental, I got stuck in traffic and made it back to the lot right at 7 pm but they still processed the car back in. It sounds like management of inventory is an issue that the owners/managers need to sort out, but staff can only work with what they have. read more

Terrible experience. Despite a confirmed car reservation, when I got to the rental location I was told that there were no cars. The front desk lady showed no concern for the situation saying that I could wait for any return to come in. After waiting for an hour, I had to leave and cancel my trip. read more
