1. I reserved a week ahead of time because my car need repairs. When I arrived at the scheduled time, the only automobile available to rent was the largest 4x4 truck I have ever seen. It would not come close to fitting in my normal size parking spaces at work and home (I live and work in a Washington DC which parking space is always limited). I looked at the customer service agent in disbelief. He was not kidding. I had to wait over an hour for him to bring a car from another location...and he was not happy to have to do it. He was one of those "used car salesmen" types...sickeningly friendly - so insincere. 2. The car I was given seemed ok but neither he nor i noticed what had to have been a hairline crack in the back windshield because when, a couple of days later, I shut the door and stepped on the brake to start the car (I had not yet touched the button to start the car, I had only stepped on the brake), the slight motion shattered the entirety of the back windshield. It was shocking to say the least. I returned the car and he refused to even speak to me about it, saying it was my fault. My insurance was charged WAY TOO MUCH for the windshield - over $700 - and I had to pay a $250 deductible. They actually made money on it! read more

Miss my reservation by five minutes and they told me that I can't get my car and they were nice enough to be inside the building and tell me during a holiday. They couldn't even help me get my reservation situated for another location. I will never use this location and now I'm recommending not to use Enterprise again. read more

The employee (I wish I knew his name) was exceptionally polite and friendly. He called a day before to confirm our reservation, and made sure everything was set up correctly. A friendly smile greeted us, and he helped us quickly, while using so many "yes, ma'am" and "thank you's". I kept pointing that out to my sons so they could learn some manners, too. I went to pickup my car and they told me some lie about ny phone number being wrong and that they couldn't confirm the reservation so they gave the rental to somebody else and that I would have to wait a few hours. Also nobody told me that if I'm out of state I would have to have a mayor credit card and i can't use a debit card. So now I have to find another way to New York and I've had this trip planned for a long time. read more

I made a reservation a week or so in advance to pick up a car on 2/17 at 9:30am. I arrived just after 9:30 and there were already 2-3 customers (couldn't tell if parties were together or not) sitting and waiting. Assuming they'd been helped I went to the counter which had a sign stating they were helping a customer and would be back momentarily. I waited about 30 minutes as a line of 5 or so customers built up behind me. In all this time the phone did not stop ringing (likely because no one was at the desk to pick it up). I had reserved a car just for a few hours to get to an appointment in VA. I'd left buffer time but not hours worth so shortly after 10am I abandoned ship because the customers waiting in chairs said they'd run out of cars anyway. I missed my appointment and incurred cancellation penalties because I didn't have another way to get to VA last minute and Uber would have been more than the cancellation charges. Disappointing as I live in the area and was hopeful to have a decent place to rent a car nearby as I don't own one in the city but often need one for a few hours. read more

They are a nice and helpful staff who will do the best they can to help. It does unfortunately seem like they're understaffed, but that's not the fault of the branch employees! Ive never experienced such an assinine situation in the history of me doing business with car rentals. Upon my return for just a few hours of usage, I saw 2 employees one was a cool car detailer who told me everything was ok. Out of nowhere this very strange weirdo women started questioning me about the vehicle. She didn't find a problem with the vehicle until I said I had just finished eating and I spilled a spec of chicken grease on the arm rest area in the plastic cup holder area. She proceeded to escalate this minor situation by telling lies that I had spilled chicken grease all over the area. How does does anyone spill large amounts of chicken grease from just eating a sandwich. Keep in mind, this also was after the detailer standing right next to return said everything was fine. Very demonic as if she was looking for a reason to F up and antagonize anyone coming to drop off their rental. Amazingly, I informed and made aware to the manager what going on and her ridiculous accusations and lies. He also assured me his auto detailer ok'd the vehicle. smh Is this the kind of customer service experience you want to build with current and future customers? crazy. Is it possible to give zero stars? I have never in my life had such an incompetent, terrible rental experience. We planned an 8-hour road trip, so of course intended to leave in the morning. We made the rental car booking weeks in advance and called the day before and confirmed that our car was booked and would be ready for pickup at 9am the next day. But... The next day, we received a call from Enterprise that our car was delayed "30 minutes to an hour". Ok, not great, but not life-ruining. An hour and a half later, we still hadn't received the call that our car was ready. We called and then were told that they hoped the car would be ready by noon--three hours after our scheduled booking. At noon, we called again and were unable to get through because technically the location had closed. So, no one was answering the phones despite unfulfilled rental bookings leaving people in the lurch. My partner ended up going in person to see what was going on, and found a whole group of confused and upset people waiting there for their confirmed but nowhere to be seen rental cars. Then, we were told that we'd get our car at 2pm earliest. TWO PM. FIVE HOURS LATE. Basically an entire day of driving, and an entire day of our vacation lost including a day of our cabin rental we'd already paid for. As I'm writing this we still don't have our car, and are still sitting at home wasting time waiting. They gave us a day and a half off the price, but it barely makes up for the stress, wasted time and money, and lack of real apology or explanation for this situation. We'll now end up driving up an unfamiliar mountain in NC late at night in the dark, a potentially dangerous situation, so if we die please hold Enterprise Rent-A-Car in Navy Yard responsible due to sheer incompetence. And if you're looking for a rental car, I'd recommend going anywhere else. UPDATE: Despite having been told that there was a car for us nearly there, we just received a call that in fact there was no car and they were now starting from scratch trying to find one, for us and also four other people waiting. Insane, right? We ended up canceling since we've been repeatedly given wrong information, if not outright lies, and are rushing to the airport to try to rent a car there, which will be way more expensive as the cherry on top. What really gets me is the utter lack of transparency and honesty in how the situation was handled, which is just a bad sign for how this location is managed. If they had been honest and told us how many hours we'd have to wait sooner, we would have cancelled, gotten a car from the airport and been well on our way by now. But they repeatedly strung us along and lied about the situation, wasting nearly six hours of our time. Bottom line: if you are a car rental agency, it's important to have cars. read more

I was disappointed by the service I received at this place. I went in to pick up a car. There was only one person at the front desk, helping out another customer. There was another worker talking on a cellphone. I waited about 15 minutes for the one person to come back just for him to tell me that they did not have any more vehicles available and that I would have to come back at a later time. I reserved a car online to visit my parents. Usually I use zip car but the price on Enterprise was half even though it meant keeping the car overnight. I reserved online was easy. The car pickup was on 4th Street (they just moved from L'Enfant Plaza; 4th Street is convenient too). The reservation agent was terrific-- friendly, knowledgeable and accommodating. It took a little while for the car to be brought out (maybe 10 minutes) which was clearly unusual because they were way more apologetic than necessary. We examined the car for scratches together. The car had plenty of gas, and ran fine. I parked on the street and returned it the next morning with no problem. I will rent here again for sure. And the customer service at this Enterprise has convinced me to use Enterprise for all my trips.... I have not been disappointed. read more

I'm a Veteran and I have rented vehicles from various different Enterprise locations for year and never had a problem. But at this location I had to rent car because of a hit and run which my car was totaled. My insurance company suggested this location. Once I received the car a few days later I received a email followed by a call informing me that my rental was at the end of it's contract and the insurance company was no longer responsible for the bill I contacted my insurance company and the rental was extended but due to Enterprise not checking the fax my adjuster sent them I was subject to calls and harassment by Matthew. I was told by USAA that Enterprise should not be contacting me for anything and if there was any problem Enterprise should have contacted USAA. this location is a privately owned franchise. I absolutely HAVE loved Enterprise during the last 2.5 years. I probably rent 3-5 days every 5 weeks or so. The staff is very well trained and I think they "get it," however, I (QNG8SKG) am now done and switching car rentals elsewhere. Recently in ATL airport I was charged almost $175+ for a one day truck rental while my business partner found a midsize for less than $40/day. Ya I know what your saying, a truck right? Well, it was only $15 more+\-.. The rate is semi forgivable b/c I made this selection, shame on me. TODAY, the Enterprise App allows me to make the same (stupid - still on me) selection/RESERVATION for around the same price as yesterday. So I get a call about 45 mins after making a RESERVATION. They can't offer a truck, in fact they don't have any cars to rent me. Complete b/s. If you don't have cars the. Don't allow me to make a RESERVATION. At the Hertz counter now. read more

Car rentals can typically be the worst, and this Enterprise is not only easy breezy for pickup and return, but the staff is genuinely nice and fun and friendly while you're waiting (which is never long). The staff was great. Within 15 minutes of arriving and calling from Union Station we were picked up and on out way. Completing the paperwork was a breeze. When a problem was found with a tire on our rental car the staff quickly offered us an upgrade and waived the requirement that we return the tank full. The next day we got a courtesy call from the rental office. They wanted to know if we were happy with our rental car. That was a first for me. read more

I rented a car from Enterprise to head out to a wedding in Charlottesville. I reserved it online, which was easy and quick, and went to pick it up a few minutes earlier than my reserved time. The staff was very accommodating and when I asked a lot of questions about the various insurance policies (the weather was not supposed to be great that weekend and I just didn't want to take any chances) they were very informative and gave me great information and also what he recommended and why. I ended up doing exactly what he recommended. I went down to the garage and inspected the car with the agent and he explained what he was looking for. He also explained how to use the drop box so I didn't have to worry about where to park the car before I turned it on Monday morning. I had an email Monday morning that the car had been checked in along with a final receipt, no surprises. Overall, it was great customer service and a great service. read more
