Pure trash. Did not have the car we reserved available. Then despite DECLINING the additional insurance, they charged us for it anyways adding nearly $400. They also charged us $25 a day for the toll pass which we also DECLINED! To make matters even worse they charged $125 d4 weeks later due to a few leaves and typical foot traffic dirt on the floor... it was October in the midwest! Cleaning floor mats and the interior in general is basic rental service. All of which the charges came in three separate and random charges that required hours of wasted time calling the useless customer service just to find out what any of it was even for. I will do everything in my power to ensure nobody I knows ever uses Budget or anyone they're affiliated with ever again. 1 star is too generous, but they won't allow zero. read more

I really wish I had looked at this before I rental my truck!! If you can please please use a different company they charged me twice as much as I was quoted and when I was told that it would be adjusted they only offered to pay me a third of what I was owed and refused to accept the proof and other emails I had received from them. This is my first Yelp review ever so please believe a business has to be really bad before making me take to the internet. I've used this Budget location at least 6 times as it's closest to my parents place in Pittsburgh, and can definitively say it is worst rental car location I've ever experienced. Not even sure where to begin. Terrible service, disinterested employees and scummy tactics. I rented a midsize SUV 2 weeks in advance, and on arrival was told none would be available so I could either take a sedan or a "cigarette filled" minivan (his words not mine). Chose the sedan and was told there would be no discount since I hadn't prepaid online (I later confirmed I had pre-paid online). I'd also chosen to pay for the unlimited EZ pass feature, so when I inquired about it the employee (owner? the only person I've ever seen working there) brushed it off and said yes the sunpass on the dash would work in its place. $60+ in tolls later says otherwise. When I took the car there was 3/4 tank of gas, and the employee dismissively told me it was in the documentation (only after asking, never would have mentioned it if I hadn't asked). As I begin driving I notice the low tire pressure indicator is light, so I pull over to check and see that all 4 tires are missing caps. After a trip to the air pump (one tire was only 2/3 full), the indicator still won't go away. As I said, I have given them the benefit of the doubt until this latest rental, even after several poor prior experiences, most recently being given a car with expired tags from this same location. I will be lodging a complaint with the national budget line and considering reporting this branch to the BBB if I'm not reimbursed for these tolls/lower tier car. read more

I reserved a moving truck online (through their site, not a third-party one)--got the confirmation in my email and all. Two days before my move, they called me to tell me they didn't have a truck for me after all. The inventory manager who called me was completely unapologetic and informed me that I should have read the small print at the bottom of the email saying that the confirmation did not guarantee a truck. (I'm sorry, but when the email starts out with "your truck has been reserved," I didn't think there was much more to look for. That seems pretty clear.) I told him that I absolutely had to move this weekend because the next tenants in my apartment need to be able to move in. His response was, "well, if you have to move, you're going to have to do that with a different company." So I did. Shoutout to U-Haul/Route 88 Self-Storage in Bethel Park, the only place in the vicinity of Pittsburgh to have a truck on such short notice. Even better, their online reservation system is clear that they actually are guaranteeing you a truck. It was completely painless and I should have gone there in the first place even though I had to drive out of town to do it. So lesson learned--read the fine print. This policy was indeed in there in the tiny print at the bottom, so there was nothing I could do about it. It's still a sketchy practice, though, and I have no interest in doing business with a company that does this. I'm about to move cross-country, and I'm definitely not renting from Budget when I do. read more

DO NOT RENT FROM THIS LOCATION. This Budget location has absolutely the worst customer service. I called earlier thinking I would make a reservation with them. The representative was extremely rude, and when I told him how I felt about his customer service, he hung up. When I called again, he kept hanging up. I've used Budget only once in another city, which was fine, but after this experience, I am never using them again. This is a service business to which customer service is everything. If this is how they treat customers even before making reservations, I can't imagine how terrible they would be when the customer is in any trouble. read more

NEVER USE BUDGET RENTAL We flew 300 miles to Pittsburgh to move our son to Scranton, Pa for graduate school. Truck was reserved 21 days in advance. Budget emailed us 3 different times that our truck was waiting for us at Baum Blvd location. The morning of pickup we were told "yeah...we have no truck for you. They oversell online all the time." Call 800 CS line. After speaking to 7 different representatives, including a supervisor of Inventory Management, we were told to rent from a competitor because there was no truck. There were no extenuating circumstances such as truck breakdown/accident or untimely return...just repeatedly told us they were " sorry if this caused an inconvenience." INCONVENIENCE!! We were stranded 300 miles from home with the contents of our son's apartment and NO WAY to get him moved! We offered to drive to another location within 2 hours of them....nope! We offered to stay another night in Pittsburgh at our own expense if they could provide a truck the next day....nope! NOTHING...their customer service is THE WORST EVER! We ended up getting a car, driving home and renting from UHAUL the following day. We had to drive 600 miles round trip that day in order to move our son. Budget then offered to reimburse us for the competitor rental but then DENIED THE REIMBURSEMENT because it was LESS THAN their cost. UNBELIEVABLE! Do yourself a favor and go to any other car rental service, they might actually have cars. Even with a reservation I had to wait for 2 hours until a car showed up. Staff seemed indifferent, like this happens all the time. Didn't adjust my rate for a smaller size car either. Oh, and no refund on returning a full day early, again staff couldn't care less because 'that's the policy'. I did not have any of the problems listed in other reviews. I got a good price on Priceline, one of the lowest in the city, and it was convenient because this place was just a mile from where I was staying. No traffic, and near one of the cheapest gas stations for refilling on return. Angelo was behind the counter when I came in. He defaulted everything to cheapest possible and waivers and did not try to up sell me on anything. First time in any car rental in years that's happened to me. No line, the whole thing took like 3-5 minutes tops. Return was super easy; I was due in the morning but if I wanted "just park it anywhere along that wall after 6 pm and drop the keys in the slot". No receipt needed to prove gas was purchased - "I go by the gauge." No hidden charges, good car, clean and accessible lot, 10/10 would use again. Literally the only flaw was he forgot to give me the keys at first :). I get the feeling that Angelo's natural character is something more like a no-nonsense mechanic instead of a saccharine salesman, which is a shame; I'm sure he's reading these reviews and trying really hard to be the guy he thinks most customers want him to be, but I'd rather he was just himself. read more

Reserved box truck 2 weeks in advance. Showed up to pick up the truck after having taken 2 flights from New York to get there at 10:30 AM. Owner at the desk asked me how I was when I walked in - I said you tell me, I don't see any trucks. He said that is correct they were all gone and to call customer service. Said he was sorry but that Fed X uses all their trucks around the Holidays. After an hour on the phone with Customer service - useless - I ended up getting a great truck from some really nice folks at U-Haul on Liberty Avenue. Well, today was *supposed* to be moving day. I got a call from Budget at 7:30 this morning that the truck I had "reserved" was not available, and that they were calling around to find one. They found one in Pleasant Hills, and offered to reserve that for me (without comping the mileage or my time). I told them I wanted the terms of my reservation--a truck at THIS location. They gave me a 800 CS number to call, and I'm still waiting on a call back from corporate to fix this mess. One of my friends had a truck reserved with them yesterday and had the same thing happen, and he ended up renting from UHaul...this location is INCREDIBLY unreliable. read more

Absolutely the worst and rudest service I've ever encountered renting a car or truck. I really can't express just how rude the people in this place were. It started with a call the morning I was supposed to pick up my Budget truck. I had made the reservation online for noon. They called me up to say they were going to shut the door and turn off the lights at noon, and if I wasn't already out the door; too bad, no truck. So I went over there early and was met by two people with snarky attitudes. Everything from taking my credit card to the fact they couldn't give me a receipt for the charge was continual rudeness. And to top it off; when they finally did give me the truck, the furniture pads I preordered weren't there cause they gave them to somebody else. Avoid this location for Budget like the plague. I've been to many others that have been great, it's not a problem with Budget, it's a problem with the people at this location. I will say it again: DON'T GO THERE! read more

One of the budget attendants attempted to scam me. Be very careful. The truck rental went fine. The truck was in good shape and ready for us when we arrived. The trouble came when we dropped the truck back off. When we dropped the truck back at budget the attendant said there was an issue with the fuel and we needed to come with him to top it off. I went with him to the GetGo down the road. He got out, messed with the gas tank for a bit, and then came and got me and forcefully said, "let's go pay inside." We went inside--now, I should have checked the pump meter--but he said it was $11.08. I said, "$11.08?? We drove exactly eight miles!" "Yeah, these trucks only get 8 or 9 miles to the gallon." "Yes... And gas is $2.85 a gallon." He told the fellow behind the counter, "she's got $11.08," he punched in some numbers, and told me to swipe. I swiped my credit card, but when he handed me my receipt the total said $118.08! I said, "I don't think this is right..." The guy behind the counter said, "I'll have to run a credit." Yes you will... Apparently he had no idea how to do that. After a while it seemed to go through, but I'll have to follow up with my credit card company. When we got back in the truck,before I said anything the budget guy said, "man, that is the first time that has ever happened! I think what happened is you swiped your credit card too soon and you got the previous persons charge." Well, I have a feeling this isn't the first time this has happened, so all who rent from budget on Baum blvd please be careful. read more

NIGHTMARE! This is the most unprofessional car rental location I have ever visited in my life. -The place is run by a husband and wife team Angelo and Johnna Deiuliis. These 2 are a perfect match because they are wholly unprofessional. These individuals are extremely rude and disregard customer service and basic human decency. -I was scheduled to move out of my apartment and the rental truck I RESERVED was not there. Why the h3ll did you confirm my reservation! They snarked back "read the fine print we reserve the right to blah blah blah. (UHaul is reliable and will pay you $50 for reservation errors). -Johnna loves to argue with customers. One time the line was out the door and she was bickering with someone for bout 10 minutes about a gas gauge being .5in below F. -I did a 1-way airport drop off because of a very early flight. Just so happens when I arrive at 4AM the airport gas station was under construction! No one bothered to tell me and there was no gas station open within miles so I paid $40 gas fees for a $30 1 day rental car! I can go on about many horrid experiences with Budget especially this location. This location is a disgrace to the brand, I will never rent from Budget again, and the Deiullis' have no business is customer service. read more

I had the absolute worst experience!! We called saying we would arrive A SINGLE MINUTE after six (closing) because of traffic, we were told we had to wait AN HOUR so the attendant could go home and eat dinner--even though we arrived one minute late and had traveled quite a ways to get there. They have this scam where they tell you fuel was not topped off and want you to go with them to the gas station. I said I filled it until the handle shut off and it's full but he said he was charging me $13 extra!!!! This place is like a bad nightmare. Terrible customer service. Made a reservation well over a month in advance for a rental truck, they called me an hour and a half before my reservation to tell me they had no trucks. They let 2 hours go by with no update and when I called to find out information they had an attitude that I was calling and hung up on my mother when she told them that their service was poor and that she didn't understand their attitude when we had been wrong. Rented a truck from this location on a chaotic weekend - graduation from CMU. Everybody was looking for rental vehicles. They opened at 8:30 am. We arrived shortly after and had to wait about 10 minutes to go through the rental paperwork. The city was doing some kind of work on the sewer system and began shutting down the parking lot. The Budget people warned us in advance and gave us directions to get out. The truck was exactly what I requested from online reservations and appeared to be fairly new. At least it looked to be in pretty good shape. I had no problems with it and it actually delivered much better milage than advertised. They were also helpful in explaining directions to the dormitory. Despite many of the bad reviews I have seen I must say that I am a satisfied customer. read more

After going in-person 2 days in advance to confirm that my truck would be available for pick-up, I got a call at 7:45 AM moving day that my 9 AM rental would, in fact, not be available and was instructed to call Customer Service. Customer Service wasn't open for 15 more minutes, and the CSR for Budget corporate was horrendous - even asked me "You can't change your move-in day?" after THEIR screw-up. It took the inventory manager over 2 hours to call me back with an option of another truck, further outside of the city, well after my scheduled pick-up time. Bad business, bad customer service - just a mess all around. While some of this wasn't the fault of this particular agency, I don't understand how it becomes my problem on the morning of my scheduled and confirmed pick-up that they don't have the truck needed. Shouldn't it be their responsibility to track it down? Use this company at your own risk... you may wind up running around the day of your move trying frantically to find another rental. read more
