When I asked why I wasn't notified, the employee replied, "It's not my job." When I inquired about options, I was told I could join a waiting list already four people long or wait indefinitely, even though I had specifically reserved a luxury vehicle. I was further told none would be available that day. When I requested a refund, the employee simply handed me a customer service phone number and immediately went back to eating his food, which he had been doing throughout our entire interaction. This experience was unacceptable. I was shocked to receive this level of service from a business located in downtown Providence, especially as this was my first impression of the city. The lack of communication, accountability, and basic customer service was appalling. I wish I would have caught his name because I 100% submitted a complaint. I don't understand why the location confirmed my reservation if this was the case

My boyfriend and I arrived at Avis, and when getting our IDs and credit cards out to complete the rental process, we dropped some cash out of our wallet. A person in the lobby immediately pointed out that we had dropped this cash, we thanked him and picked it up, and completed our rental agreement. Immediately upon getting on the road in our rental, we received 6 missed calls from our rental location. My phone had been on silent, but I answered the next incoming call from them, assuming either we or they had forgot something. The employee calling immediately started our call telling us to turn around or they would be filing a police report and reporting us for stealing. I initially assumed they meant I was stealing the car I just paid for, but then he clarified that they believed we stole a large amount of cash we found on the ground, and if we did not turn around and hand over all our cash, they were calling the cops on us. I calmly told them to check their video tapes, as it dropped from our own wallet, but continued being yelled at. I asked for a manager, and the employee rather ominously told me that a manager would not be working until Monday when we returned our rental (5 days from our pick up date) and that they couldn't wait to talk to us in person on Monday. I felt super uncomfortable with the implication that I would need to interact with this person again, even if a manager was present on our rental drop off date. I want to reiterate the cash being demanded was definitely ours and came from our wallet, and was in the sum of around $200-250. It seems to me they believed they could get some quick extra cash by harassing, scaring, and extorting customers with their limited level of authority over me, and I strongly advise any potential customers (especially women!!!) to choose a different rental company or at least a different Avis location.

There's only so many places you can rent to drive for Uber. They have cost me months making no money. Just a single mom trying to survive day by day. They are the absolute worst . The two cars I had from them were dirty smelled like cigarettes, I got bad reviews for it no matter how much shit I bought to make the car smell better you could still smell it. They had the audacity to claim that a 2 week old brand new Tesla was magically scratched. Luckily I do have recorders of them doing it as the Tesla comes with a DashCam that records its surroundings. After a debate, Sam the owner says okay just find a Tesla certified body shop to fix and I'll pay for it and after the item arrived he basically said screw yourself I wont pay for it lol. Such a scam. This shop is nothing but a bunch of liars who cant keep their word and are terrible at their job and most importantly, they are people who wont own up to them screwing you over. Absolute rip off! Charged $404 for towing and late fees…read morebecause the car's translission failed despite it being not my fault and contacting Zipcar in advance of the end of rental time twice on the phone. Zipcar refuses to return my money after contacting customer service by phone and chat and disputing the charge via my credit card. The car was with a low tire pressure in one of the wheels which we have only discovered when the trip begun. The car's front passenger window was open when we came to pick it up and the driver's seat had a hole in it made by a cigarette. Overall it was dirty on the inside and it gave an impression of a poorly maintained vehicle. The car's transmission failed unexpectedly and without any action from my side. The transmission could not be shifted into reverse or parking mode. I have contacted Zipcar customer support by telephone twice and explained to the service representative that the car is broken and that this is the reason why I am not able to return it to the correct location on time. The service representative advised that I should leave the car at the gas station. I indicated to the support representative that we should not be charged any extra fees as it is not our fault that the vehicle got broken. I was not able to end the trip in the Zipcar app as it was not located at the dedicated parking spot so I pushed it out of the way of other cars to a parking space and locked it prior to leaving the gas station. I was not offered assistance to get to my place of residency by the Zipcar customer representative and had to walk home. The same evening I contacted Zipcar support in the Zipcar app as I was charged $403.92 for the late return and asked that the above amount be returned to me as the reason I was not able to return the car was that it got broken and therefore I am not responsible to pay these fees. On the contrary it is Zipcar responsibility to maintain their vehicles properly and take care of repairs and associated costs.
