Southwest, is one of the major airlines of the United States and the world's largest low-cost carrier. It is headquartered in Dallas, Texas, and has scheduled service to 121 destinations in the United States and 10 additional countries. Southwest carries more domestic passengers than any other United States airline. The airline was established on March 15, 1967, by Herb Kelleher and Rollin King as Air Southwest Co. and adopted its current name, Southwest Airlines Co., in 1971, when it began operating as an intrastate airline wholly within the state of Texas, first flying between Dallas, Houston, and San Antonio. It began regional interstate service in 1979, expanding nationwide in the following decades. Southwest currently serves airports in 42 states and multiple Central American destinations. Southwest's business model is distinct from other US airlines as it uses a rolling hub and point-to-point network and allows free checked baggage. It exclusively uses Boeing 737 jets in its fleet. The airline has nearly 60,000 employees and operates about 4,000 departures a day during peak travel season. The company has always employed humor in its advertising. Former slogans include "Love Is Still Our Field," "Just Plane Smart," "The Somebody Else Up There Who Loves You," "You're Now Free To Move About The Country," "THE Low Fare Airline," "Grab your bag, It's On!" and "Welcome Aboard." The airline's current slogan is "Low fares. Nothing to hide. That's TransFarency. I have enjoyed flying out of PVD on Southwest. You check in 24 hours before your flight and you get a zone and number, that allows you a place in line to get onboard and pick ANY seat you want.... That's really cool. The fares are low, but sometimes not as low as others, so it's best to shop around. They used to have a nonstop from PVD to FLL, but not anymore. In most cases you have to change planes in BWI (Baltimore Washington International). As a general rule, the flight experience is pleasant, no frills and care free. Their flight are usually on time, ranking number 6 among all US airlines for on time performance in 2021.

I'm going to be a little Biased now, because end of the Day Southwest pulled through. So my friend and I enjoyed a great trip in Cancun. Upon our return the stop was in Fort Lauderdale. Because it was Easter weekend and the weather was pretty bad along the East Coast, turns out the plane that was supposed to come from Atlanta to Fort Lauderdale was canceled. We didn't know this. We waited for hours for updates Finally around 11 pm they told us they only had a plane that could provide seating for 140 passengers.. this caused chaos . There were 170 of us. I could go on but end of the day I talked to the customer service people before anyone else. They told me they would compensate us, but we would be on our own as far as finding a hotel for a flight the next day. They were also telling everyone else that they would be out of luck for finding flights since it was Easter weekend and all flights were booked. Luckily, the customer service agent found us two seats for the next day. They explained to us they had no hotels to provide us since they were already booked with other passengers who were stuck in the same situation. So we took their Amazing money vouchers (paid for our trip plus more) then we called Uber and got a room at a Motel 6 like 5 minutes away which only cost $112 tax included!!! We made the flight next day and we're Lucky because many people were stuck until Sunday! So I'm saying Thank You Southwest Airlines! You compensated us above and beyond, and I'm kinda glad we got bumped to be able to receive your awesome compensation!!!

Southwest Airlines made for an easy and comfortable transport to and from Baltimore, MD this past week for my long awaited and much needed vacation. With early online check-in 24 hours before, the bf and I were able to gain access both there and back to the A group for boarding. On Southwest, you choose your own seats and are either in A, B, or C group to board. No longer do you have to line up hours before to claim a good seat on the plane. . . simply line up in order just before the flight is boarding. Depending on where you are flying you are likely to find a great deal! Also, if you are willing to fly at odd hours or days of the week you may find some discounts this way. Their Ding application is another way to capture deals. Airport staff and in-flight attendants are friendly and outgoing. They seem to like to tell cheesy one-liners over the speakers and get a laugh out of their customers. Drinks and snacks are served in-flight, there is ample space in each seat, and plenty of overhead storage for carry-ons. You are allowed one carry-on and one personal bag. We did not run into a single problem with this airline. It is comfortable enough to get you from one place to the next with little to no hassle. What more could you ask for?

Flights went great on my day of travel. Flight crew was funny, nice and accommodating to those elderly folk I saw come onboard.

I am an elite frequent traveler on a legacy carrier. After flying Southwest several times, I might switch to Southwest. .

I paid for a carry-on bag, yet a flight attendant removed my bag from the plane at the last minute and told me it would be checked and delivered to my final destination. During my connection in Atlanta, the situation got even worse. The flight was delayed because the gate was changed at the last minute without any announcement. All passengers were waiting at the wrong gate until someone finally went to ask. Only then did they casually mention--over the microphone--that the gate had changed to another terminal about 15 minutes away. When we finally arrived at the new terminal, the gate was changed again on the screen, and there were no Frontier employees present to explain what was happening or assist passengers. When I arrived in Hartford, my luggage never showed up. Frontier has no employees, no office, and no baggage service desk at the airport. No one answers the phone, and I have been left completely on my own trying to locate my belongings. I am currently in a different state on vacation, without my clothing or personal items. This situation has been extremely stressful and has ruined my vacation. Frontier's lack of communication, organization, and customer support is unacceptable. I still don't know where my bag is or what to do next.

If you get it at the right time, you can get really cheap fares on Frontier…read more The plane was an Airbus 321neo, very similar to many other large carrier airplanes. The plane was clean and modern. I was surprised to see 5 flight attendants for the flight, especially when the drink service is optional, so maybe only 30-40 people use the drink service... Anyway, you pay for everything, so for those who complain about that, they need to realize and understand that the business model for Frontier is such...if you don't like it, pick Delta, American, United, Southwest or Jetblue for example... The folding table was smaller than other carriers and the seat was not padded like other airlines...no recline either..... The overhead compartment was similar in size to other airplanes... Not bad for a few bucks !!!
