I recently flew United out of PVD to EWR. The flight was on a commuter aircraft that had a good size overhead compartment, where my 21" rollerboard carry on fit. The flight was only like 45 min from take off to touch down, so no drink service on board. They did pass some water for those who wanted. The agents at the gate were really friendly and one particular lady would call everyone by their first name as their boarding passes were scanned. Very nice touch and very personal. I've never encountered such RUDE, dismissive, unhelpful airline personnel as we encountered when our Canadian cousin tried to check in with United Airlines in Providence. I am having the absolute WORST experience I have ever had with an airline. I arrived to the airport approximately 45 minutes prior to my flight to Chicago. When I arrived, Audrina, the bag check agent, was EXTREMELY rude to her coworker who was new and training. She was making comments about her being slow and needing to move faster. When she finally looked at me, she immediately became brash with me and said that I am late and I would NOT be making my flight. She made no effort to assist me quickly. She was typing for about 10-15 minutes and moving extraordinarily slow. I travel often and it seemed as if she was intentionally moving slow to ENSURE i would no way make this flight. Becoming frustrated, I asked for my ID. I went to the gate and the agent let me know they had JUST given my seat away and she couldn't get me on the flight because my bag was too big. I am now arriving to my final destination 4 hours later than anticipated and have to take three flights instead of one. As a specific note, this IS NOT the first poor experience I have witnessed with Audrina or "Drina". I have seen her yell at other guests in the past when I have travelled. She is unprofessional, rude, and I believe one of the worst customer service agents I have ever seen. I would rather take a BUS than fly with United today; however I am forced to fly. As someone who is traveling often and looking for speedy resolutions, even if someone is a minute late, I cannot count on the desk at TF Greene. Audrina is an embarrassment. read more

I feel compelled to write this review after 2 bad experiences with United Airlines. Both occurred at Newark Airport. My most recent trip had me arriving at the airport 2 hours before my 9:30 flight to Providence. It was rainy so I had a feeling the flight might get cancelled. This was a work trip so I had the travel agent check if I could switch to Amtrak to get home, this was at noon. I was told everything was fine flights are on time and not being cancelled. (Lie #1). Soon after I arrived I got the first of 4 texts over the next 4 hours delaying the flight. The last delay had the flight leaving at 12:45am. The reason cited was awaiting aircraft. (Lie 2-5) At 11:50 the flight was cancelled, now due to air traffic control. This means the airline doesn't have to pay for hotel. Now 50 irate passengers are supposed to wait in a line for 2 exhausted and frustrated and likely underpaid UA staff to re route and handle everyones problems. After an hour in line I was give a voucher for the train the next day. Then I was on my own to find, pay for and get to the hotel I booked. ($150 out of my pocket). I don't like to write 1 star reviews so my first plan was to write to the airline. I did and they offered me $100 voucher which expires in one year and no apologies. I wrote again saying this was not acceptable, I missed an important family function by getting stuck overnight in Newark. The next flight didn't leave until 9:30 the next night. This is no way to treat your customers! Maybe I should count my blessings that I didn't get dragged off the plane. Very disappointing! read more

I am not trying to pile on to United issues but bacilli they have no respect for there customers time. I was early to the airport for a 30 min flight from Newark to Boston. I asked the gate agent if I could get on an earlier flight. She said it would cost $70 fee. I already paid top dollar so I said no. I waited the hour and half for my scheduled flight. That flight was late by 45 minutes. So I guess it is ok for United to change the time I fly but I don't get a choice Just bad customer experience. I am not an elite level on Inited like I am on Delta and American and based on this experience I never will fly them again. In fact on my next trip to Boston from NY I plan to take a train. I've been lucky with United. Been flying them continuously since the 90's and can genuinely say I'm a satisfied customer. Are they perfect? No. Is any carrier? No. I can tell you a long list of other carriers who are not as good as United. I prefer United for the long haul trips to Asia...they excel in those trips. read more

United airlines has no customer service skills... 1ST: when booking my flight the price was changed to a higher price (ok). 2nd: Then I tired to move to an earlier return they wanted $400 to do that. But are advertising NO CHARGE FOR CHANGE FLIGHTS. 3rd: My return flight gets delayed which meant I might miss my connecting flight. Do to the fact that it would cost them more if I missed the next flight, they made sure the passengers with connecting flights made their flights. But my luggage did not make it. When you arrive to Providence RI on the last flight there is NO ONE from United that you can speak to. You have to go on line or call them and hope you get someone that can help you and not give you the run around !!!! Finally my luggage was delivered after 3 days of calls. Let me not forget that the flights I took where full to CAPACITY.... NO SOCIAL DISTANCING !!!! UNITES AIRLINES YOU COULD DO BETTER... outrageous prices, extra pay for luggage, and poor customer service. NOT A GOOD LOOK VERY DISAPPOINTED !!!! read more

The customer service this airline provides has to be some of the worst my family has ever experienced. We are talking comcast level customer service. My 16 year old niece was flying to Virginia from Rhode island by herself to meet up with my other niece who is stationed there in the Navy. My 16 year old niece got on the first flight fine, it was delayed for 10 minutes but no big deal. It then sat in the air over Newark NJ for almost two hours, causing her to get deplaned three minutes before her connecting flight closed boarding. She asked the stewardess to help her get to the next terminal, and was told she was too busy helping other passengers. My sister and my other niece were both on the phone with the terminal at this point asking for them to hold the flight just a few minutes and they refused. The connecting flight took off without the 15 passengers on the first flight, this was at 10:40pm. They then told my 16 year old niece who was traveling alone, that her next flight was for 11:30am the following morning, and they have nothing to do with giving her a place to stay or getting her to a hotel she probably couldn't even check into given that shes 16. They hung up on my sister multiple times as she was trying to get someone to help my niece, who has only flown once before so is naturally quite scared at this point. It took my sister, my other niece, my nieces fiance, and a customer service agent in another country to finally get the terminal people to allow my niece to sleep in the youth travelers lounge, and get her an earlier flight this morning. This was a horrible experience for my niece, who was traveling alone for the first time, and experienced probably the worst customer service I've ever heard of. United airlines, shame on you. My husband and I went to Nashville. My luggage arrived wet like it had been dropped in a puddle or left outside. My items inside where wet when I got to the hotel. They didn't charge us baggage fees on the way down for Military rate. But on the way back they said it wasn't an option and charged us $60.I called and they said they cannot refund baggage fees! Then we arrived to airport returning home and our luggage was left in Nashville they said. From Sat to Tuesday we still haven't received our luggage. We have called multiple times and we keep getting lied to. A supervisor was supposed to call us back twice and never did. The customer service through this horrible experience has been rude and awful. The agent told us she has multiple bags fitting our description there with no tags. She couldn't verify it was ours without a supervisor present. My husband drove to the airport identified our bags with tags still attached. And they were the only two as described on the rack. Never again will I use United no matter how cheap the fair is!!! read more

Avoid United Airlines at Providence airport. Their service involves feeding two perpetually snarled hubs at Newark and Dullles. Just experienced my second re-routing by them in the last two weeks. Their check in staff practice a annoying brand of half-truths as they try to put out their frequent service problems. An awful experience of bait and switch service. For Providence, stick to an airline like Southwest that still has some scruples when it comes to customer service. Sorry United, the word about your lousy service is about to become very widespread!! read more

This airline has no respect for people's baggage. They basically blame you when they lose your bag. We had plans for the evening and all my clothes were in my bag. They never were even placed on my connecting flight and if they did arrive it would take hours to get to where we are staying. I will never fly with United again. Their ticketing and gate agents were rude and treated the customers like kindergartens. When we had to file our lost baggage claims they were glib and basically just told us to wait till the bag came. There was no recourse if the bag does not arrive in time. Our plans require us to dress up and we are unable to without our baggage. Very unhappy with the service provided by the support staff. I will tell everyone about our poor experience. read more

Upon what I thought would be my departure from Warwick, RI to LAX I took a picture of a cozy cup of coffee situated next to my airline tickets in anticipation of an "on time" flight home. On United flight XXXX --- I had NO idea the journey I was in for last Wednesday. Granted, I had two connections before my final destination -- nothing terribly significant in the face of a good deal. That being said, I found myself disgusted with the HORRIBLE service from Warwick, RI, to Newark, NJ, to Houston, TX...finally to LAX. I guess the one good thing about United and how they treat their customers is that they are, indeed consistently BAD! A one hour delay snowballed into many hours delay, RUNNING through the airports with luggage in tow -- thank god I didn't have kids in rolly carts as others did, or worse yet that I wasn't a paraplegic--as another was. I was disgusted to see how dismissive United personnel were to the aforementioned folks. No eye contact and a pat statement, "Go to customer service." was the mantra of the day. Little did I know, I'd be on the receiving end of the same statement. In the end I arrived home at 2 a.m. -- sssoooo tired and mannnny hours later than originally planned. The good thing? When you fly United I suggest you check your brains with your luggage as you are CRAZY to fly with them. Had a reservation to fly from Newark to Providence but United forgot to order a plane for us to fly. Three hour delay. Then on the return flight they delivered the plane for our flight but forgot they needed a crew to fly the plane. 4 hour delay. Is anyone really monitoring these bozos? read more

Terrible customer service, when purchasing my ticket I did not understand the difference between basic economy and economy the representative made me feel like a second class citizen. I asked to upgrade so I could carry on my bags but was told this is not possible even though the seats are the same. United I want to thank the honest service that you gave me. Yesterday I had a trip IAH-EWR-PVD, at the boarding, my carry on was checked to final destination (PVD). When I arrived to Providence, my baggage didn't. At that moment I realized that my Ipad was there, I got nervous and scared that the ipad could be stolen so I activate the 'lost mode' of the ipad. This morning the app showed that my Ipad was at TF Green Airport, so I had hope that I could recover my Ipad...few mins ago I received my baggage at my apartment with all my belongings including my ipad! I know it was my fault checking in an electronic equipment but I really want to thank you for your great service! read more

Granted I booked the wrong flight by mistake, and wanted to fly with my boyfriend on vacation. I expected to pay a fee for changing, which is understandable. But $100?! ***BEWARE*** DO NOT, I REPEAT DO NOT!!! Fly United Airlines. This airline inconvenienced my flight in the most horrendous way. Flying from Palm Springs to Rhode Island. 2 stops in between. I expected delays , however , first stop was in Denver Co. Our flight landed us at the SAME TIME or 2nd flight was to take off. both United airlines. They ALSO dropped us off at the way OTHER end of the airport (apologizing while doing it). when I finally arrived at my 2nd flight - GATES CLOSED. Plane took off - on time might I had). I had to stand in a long line for customer service (along with everyone else they purposely left behind). Once up there, next flight out was delayed SIX HOURS. so, instead of stalling the plane 10 minutes since UNITED AIRLINES made a mistake - they take off on time and delay all the other passengers 6 hours or more. I complained, the manager told me to go online or call if I wanted more than a whopping $100 certificate for my next flight. LIKE I EVEN WANT TO FLY WITH THIS COMPANY AGAIN!! they also gave me $14 for food. They are absolutely insensitive, careless, unhelpful and a pure disgrace. The manager in Denver Co name was CARLA KING. Beware this lady will laugh in your face due to her "status" with the company. she blew me off right a long with the rest of the customers. She was very rude and unhelpful. I asked her for a $200 cert and she denied it. After a mistake on united part, six hour delay AND my luggage not arriving when I finally reached Rhode Island at 2AM. This journey with United was a COMPLETE AND UTTER DISASTER. On a brighter note - thru diverted us on Delta Airlines and my goodness - fabulous airline. United on the other hand - they don't even deserve ONE star but apparently I have to give them one to post this review. read more
