Have to drop them to 3. Had been on a few trips with them that went well, but after this past Friday they lost me. The 'Friday Funday' Mystic trip was cancelled. Ok. I get it trips get cancelled when there aren't enough people signed up for it. But in this case, they didn't even bother to tell me/us. Even got the confirmation/reminder email the day before. So being at the pickup point and its 5 minutes after we're supposed to leave, I call them to see what's going on and then they tell me it got cancelled and I should've been told Tuesday, but obviously wasn't and again, even got the confirmation/reminder email the day before. As someone that doesn't get a lot of time out work to burn a day off with nothing to show for it is extremely frustrating, and honestly, I just can't risk getting burned again. The owner Ted called later that day offering to make it right and I was refunded the money for the trip and the other trip I cancelled but I can't risk burning another day off with nothing to show for it. The people have always been nice, so I won't completely knock them, but beware even getting a confirmation email the day doesn't mean the trip is happening. read more

I joined Experience Rhode Island Tours on their A Day on Martha's Vineyard tour. There were three departure locations: Crowne Plaza Hotel in Warwick, RI, Visitor information Center at the Rhode Island Convention Center in Providence, RI, and the main entrance of Hampton Inn New Bedford in Fairhaven, MA. Ted picked us up from the Visitor information Center two minutes prior to 7:00am. The mini coach bus was pretty full from the first pickup location. We then went on our way to the third pickup location. After our mini coach bus was full, we crossed Bourne Bridge to Woods Hole Terminal in Cape Cod to take a 45 minute Steamship Authority's ferry ride to Oak Bluffs. The ferry ride was smooth. When we got to Oak Bluffs, Ted told us about the history of Martha's Vineyard and gave us a map. First, we went to the fishing village of Menemsha for lunch and I walked to Menemsha Public Beach. Stanley Larsen, owner of Menemsha Fish Market, came on board the bus and showed us the jaws of a great white shark he caught in 1983 while swordfishing. Next, we went to the Aquinnah Cliffs Overlook to admire the beautiful cliffs of Aquinnah and Gay Head Light. This was my favorite part of the whole trip. Then, we explored the lovely harbor of shops and homes in Edgartown. I walked to the Edgartown Harbor Lighthouse, which is very close to Harbor View Hotel. Ted talked to us about the Chappaquiddick incident that occurred sometime around midnight, between July 18 and 19, 1969, while standing in front of the Harbor View Hotel looking out at the Poucha Pond. On the way to Oak Bluffs, we stopped at the "Jaws Bridge," a popular spot for jumping into the water despite signs prohibiting it. Lastly, we saw the gingerbread cottages and the tabernacle of Oak Bluffs. We then took the Steamship Authority's ferry ride from Vineyard Haven back to Woods Hole Terminal. We returned to Visitor information Center at the Rhode Island Convention Center about 7:30pm. Everyone on the trip were very respectful of the time Ted told us to return to the bus and were very friendly. This was a wonderful, fun, informational day trip to New England's most popular island and I am so glad I got to explore Martha's Vineyard for the first time with Experience Rhode Island Tours. Ted took us on a tour of the entire island, exploring its six towns. The tour included admission to Martha's Vineyard ferry, narrated tour, and round-trip transportation to and from the ferry, and transportation throughout the day on the Vineyard. Recently I took the Discover Rhode Island tour from Experience Rhode Island Tours. This 90 minute tour ($35) runs from Mondays to Saturdays either once or twice a day (11am and/or 2pm). Call or get online to make reservations. The shuttle picks you up in front of the Visitor Center at the Convention Center on Sabin street. John was the tour guide and he gave a really good overview of the city to the group, which was made up of 7 people. The tour took us around Federal Hill, the West End, College Hill (including the campus area of Brown University and the Rhode Island School of Design), and downtown. We had a chance to get off the shuttle van and walk in Federal Hill near DePasquale square and in College Hill by Prospect Park. The 90 minutes flew by...it was so much fun...Very informative and lively...I would recommend to anyone wanting a quick overview of Providence. read more

Disappointing. Our driver didn't seem to be very knowledgeable except for his information about Roger Williams. However, his story about the founding of the colony meandered and was not engaging. If you're looking for a good introduction to the city, this isn't it. The tour lasted over 2 hours and it could have been done in the allotted 90 minutes but even that would be a waste of time and money. Other than the founding of the city, there was no sense of the city's history. Information on Federal Hill was amusing at best. He pointed out where businesses used to be and who owned them in the past. When asked about the homes and about who built them, he had no information. He pointed out the white markers that signified an old home. I was on the 11 am tour on June 20, 2024. read more

The tour was excellent. The tour guide Ted, kept every single passenger fully engaged. He is very well rounded and proficient in all aspects of RI State, geography, history and climate. The weather was amazingly beautiful, which helped us in enjoying our trip to the fullest extent. You can't be a resident of RI State and miss booking your tours with this impressive tour company. By the way, the tour was Automn in New England. Visiting the liberty Farm and having the horse wagon ride was very nice. My husband & I went on this all day tour in May 2023. We went on this tour 3 1/2 years ago and enjoyed so much we decided to go again. Our Rhode Island in a day trip was very amazing! Ted, our driver and guide was very informative in every area about the state of Rhode Island. I never realized what a beautiful state it was or how much history that I didn't realize came from that state. We visited beautiful parks, beaches, And other historical sites. The pick up location was well marked in downtown Providence and a representative from the company was there 30 minutes before the tour was going to start checking people in and directing them to the rest rooms. The bus pulled up 15 minutes before the tour started and our drive/guide, Phil, invited us to board early if we wanted. The tour started promptly at 11 am and could not have been any better! Phil was an excellent driver, able to navigate with ease, the ever changing road closures due to construction along with the narrow streets in various places on the tour. Not only was Phil knowledgeable about his city, he was passionate about every aspect of it, being a third generation resident. He was witty and always open for questions. We got off the bus three times which was lovely and he recommended dining establishments and other things for us to return to later in the day. (We came back later to Little Italy and made delicious purchases at the Italian deli and French bakery he recommended). I would highly recommend this tour both from its content, and the excellent driver guide who is an asset to this company and the hospitality industry in which he has chosen to work! read more

We're visiting RI from CA for a wedding. We're staying at a wonderful Airbnb in Providence but have been going back and forth between here and Newport for 3 days for wedding festivities. Today was our first day of down time, and most of the things I looked into were closed. I'm so glad I stumbled across this tour and booked it. I was dubious about taking my 11 year old on a 6 hour tour but we had a blast. We had a wonderful time at an apple orchard, learning about maple syrup production, seeing charming New England sights like an old covered bridge, talking with locals and snooping in antique shops. While visiting Providence, Rhode Island, I booked two tours with Experience Rhode Island Tours. It is a family owned business and the brothers running it are warm and down-to-earth people. Also, they are very accommodating and will help one find a tour that fits one's interest and time frame. The first tour I took was Discover Providence; the two-hour tour was informative and pointed out historic areas of the city, it also gave me ideas of where to go back and visit on my own. The second tour I took was Country Rhode Island. It was great to go outside of Providence and see the beautiful countryside. We visited a vineyard with wine tasting, a maple tree farm with samples of maple products, shopped at the oldest country store in Rhode Island, and toured a farm that specializes in free-range animal meat products. We also stopped for lunch at a small cafe in Chepatchet. Our friendly guide encouraged us to get to know one another and talk about our individual backgrounds, which made the tour even more enjoyable.
