I want to express my extreme disappointment with the consistent poor quality of vehicles I have received from Budget, culminating in my most recent rental yesterday. I have now had three significantly negative experiences, which have severely impacted my trust in your services. On two previous occasions, I rented cars that had extensive body damage upon pickup. While inconvenient, I continued to use your services. However, a separate incident left me stranded on the freeway for ten hours due to a vehicle issue, which was incredibly frustrating and disruptive, despite the roadside assistance provided. My most recent rental, picked up yesterday, once again presented with unacceptable conditions. The vehicle had significant body damage, including major scratches and dings all over, and was missing a gas cap. Furthermore, the car was noticeably dirty on the exterior. Budget used to be a reliable and reputable car rental company. However, based on my recent experiences and corroborating online reviews I've read, it appears there has been a considerable decline in the integrity of your fleet and a lack of attention to vehicle maintenance and customer satisfaction. I urge you to address these recurring issues as they significantly detract from the customer experience. I have 2 personal vehicles BMW but when I travel for business I rent. Long line, then pushed through the contract quickly, but then they clearly added the damage waiver which I NEVER have used in my life and did not catch until the final bill after the rental. Called to note that this was wrong and intended to push every button as decline decline but I recall the agent pushed one button and I clearly missed it. The worst company I have ever dealt with, first time = last time. They are charging me for 29 additional days of rental (almost $5000), even though the car was sitting in a wrecking yard the entire time (yes, they were notified immediately after the accident and 4 more times after that because their communication is non-existent). I expected to be charged for the damage to the car (my insurance), but an additional month of rental on top of it? They will not respond to my insurance company. and the air bag didn't even work. I've been battling this company for a year on a misleading contract in Calgary written by their employee Sawraj, we had paid in full via Priceline, who I will never use again or recommend to a friend because they wouldn't help us out in this rip off!, We paid in full to Priceline, car rental including insurance. When we picked the car up, we were told by Sawraj that he needed the card of the driver, me, I explained we were paid in full so he didn't need my card! He insisted that he needed my card because I was the driver, after he imprinted my card, he asked if we wanted to add a driver? Why not make my wife the driver and add me as a second driver? The "Why" is because now they can screw us by using my card for insurances we had prepaid thru Priceline. As we went thru the contract I kept saying we didn't need andy additional insurances and he kept saying okay, initial here etc., so on and so forth... I thought we were good to go and initialed where he directed thinking we were declining additional coverages, when in deed he led me down the path... we ended up being billed for $334.77 Dollars for insurances we thought were declined, we had already paid Priceline $104.00 for insurance, so now we have paid a total of $438.77 for insurance! Not to mention our coverage with our personal car insurance is so good we didn't need their coverage but felt because of being in a foreign country it was best... bad decision on our part! So $612.84 car rental + $104.00 Priceline insurance + $334.77 Budget rip off insurance, it cost us $1051.61 for basically 7 days?, Lubricant was not offered! $150.23 per day! We picked up the car on 7/27/2022 @ 3:10PM and returned on 8/4/2022 @ 8:14AM so it looks like 9 days but it's not, there is a lot of dead time there. Bottom line, I think they, Sawraj took my card in order to pull off this crime! I feel strongly this is done all the time by this Budget agency . Quite possibly the worst service experience I have ever had. They have so many hidden costs wrote into their 1000 pages of Terms and Conditions. Upon returning the rental we were told we owed extra for gas which was completely fine until you realize they charge you approx. 3 times the price of the gas along with a surcharge. They also had 3 other hidden charges that they said we had to pay. The rental ended up costing double what it said initially on the website. Then when we thought we were done with Budget Rental, I receive a bill for a toll that we passed through. The toll was $6.88 but they also charged an administration fee and tax on top of this, I understand that we have to pay the toll but the admin fee was 3 times the amount of the toll. I would highly recommend that you DO NOT use Budget Rental, They are a money grabbing company and their customer service is not good. read more

I rented from AVIS at this site, and I got a great price, great service, including a ride back to the airport when I returned the car. I got a Nissan Sentra for an overnight trip to Palm Springs... Unlie other off airport sites, they actualy open over the weekend (mornings). I'm going to use them again! read more

When we arrived we didn't have to wait in line, the representative was friendly. My 2 issues I had with this location is they noted my check in time (7:30am) as the same time we received the vehicle (8:05am) which ended up me being charged for return (after several calls, I was refunded the money since I did not return the car late ). We had to wait over 30 minutes to receive our vehicle. The other issue we had is I was told my Husband could also drive the car. I drove the car we came in and he was going to leave with the rental. The security hassled my Husband saying he's not allowed to drive it and I have to be in the vehicle with him. The exact opposite of what we were told at the counter. This company was a headache compared to Enterprise (which I've never had any issues with) I will not be using Budget again. None of the employees seem to be on the same page. read more

I don't think he cares for the company himself so he just does the basics - checks cars in and out and definitely without a smile... It was 3 different phone agents that were awful and actually rude. I made my reservation over the phone to ensure everything would be done correctly and we wouldn't have any problems picking up. However, I was lied to by the agent who took my reservation. He told me I could pay with Debit or Credit. He even took my payment over the phone with my Debit card. When I arrive to pick up they said they couldn't give me the car because they need to charge a credit card. I told them I had already paid and they still refused to give me the rental. Mad an all asked then to cancel my reservation and issue me a full refund for inconveniencing me telling me wrong information. They called their customer support and gave me the phone because apparently that is work they don't do. The customer support guy "issued me a full refund". He said it could take up to 10 days. 10 days pass and guess what? No refund! I call Budget support and it turns out my reservation was NEVER cancelled and I was NEVER issued a refund. BUYER BEWARE!!! I don't normally write 1 star reviews unless someone does something deliberately to harm me. That is precisely what happened with this experience. Lorraine at the Ontario Airport Location rented me a van for one way travel two days ago. I got to my destination and my receipt was over $200 more than what I expected. There was insurance on the receipt which I had verbally declined at the time of rental. These charges were slammed on here knowingly. The attendants work off of commission and make money specifically on the "features". The company may even be involved because if you look at your rental agreement, THERE IS NO TOTAL! It shows your rental amount (what you expect to pay). The receipt is itemized in a way that is meant to cause confusion, and take advantage of travelers in a hurry. SHADY! I've attached pictures so you know what to look for. This company needs to clean it up. I'm going to file a complaint with the California DCA, BBB, and with their own in house consumer affairs. I pre-paid for an economy car for 2 days, rejecting the additional insurance coverage because my insurance already offers this. When we got to the airport to pick up the car, the agent again asked us if we needed extra insurance and we said "no thanks, our insurance already covers this". We ended up returning the car early one day only to find that we were getting charged an additional $44 for added insurance. WHAT? So, apparently the agents who check you in don't give a sh*t what you actually ask for, they tack on extra charges anyway. We were in a rush and didn't read the entire contract but assumed that having expressly denied that coverage twice, our request would be honored. The agents at drop-off were at first pretty bitchy, then literally asked me to write my email on some paper that somehow was going to make its way to their corporate billing office. OK, nice "gtfo of my face" move. Never got a refund. Will never rent from Budget again. Go to Avis, Enterprise, shit, I'd rather hitchhike than give my money to these con-men and I suggest you do the same. read more

If you're on a budget, this still isn't the place to go to. I waited 40 minutes in line (pretty sure it took them about 7 minutes to process every customer,and the line was only getting longer), to be told that I'd have to wait longer outside while they fetched my car. The car was in good condition, and the security agent at the exit was kind (not a Budget employee), so no complaints there. For me, my time is $$ so I'd rather spend more $$ for a 6 minute wait at the competitors. read more

Vancouver rental: Lincoln we rented stopped working when we called budget - we had an early morning flight and had to get to the airport, they told us to call Lincoln for help. Unbelievable Montreal: We were accused of smoking cannabis in the mercedes, and we called liars when we explained that our luggage had cannabis in it but we were treated like criminals and charged! Moncton: We rented a BMW it was raining a muddy everywhere, the cars stabilization control light went on, had to pay for a ride to airport. NOT RENTING FROM Budget again ever! read more

The only reason this has 1 star rather than zero (other than Yelp wont allow it) is for the first sales agent that helped us, she was very nice. Everything from there was pretty terrible. We rented a vehicle to get us from point A to point B (Disneyland) and was like many others, also charged the $27 insurance fee (even though we have our own). I wasn't happy about that and had been able to waive it at previous companies. The inside of the car looks like it was some college students. Worse conditioned rental I've ever seen. It was "clean" on the surface but had terrible stains all over the upholstery. The wheel was SUPER sticky and gross. Got inside the car and plugged our phones in that needed to be charged... I couldn't get it to work. SO my BF plugged his phone in to try the lighter and the USB port, NOTHING. I was really really peeved that the cigarette lighter and USB port didn't charge our phones. We were traveling and really needed to use the 40 minute drive to/fro our location to ensure our phones were charged for directions! When I notified the check in guy AND the clerk, I was told that the car must have just been bought (umm... you mean, you paid money for that POS?) and that it hadn't been fully inspected yet (so you're saying, you rent cars that could potentially pose a hazard to your customers?) and that he'd notify management in case they needed to "cancel the check on the vehicle"... so in 2 words, Incredibly Unprofessional The manager was standing right there when I said there was a serious problem with our car and they did NOTHING to reimburse us for our troubles. The agent told me they're getting NEW cars and that next time it'll be better. FYI buddy... there will NEVER EVER... EVER be a next time with your company. read more

We kept it an extra 3 days and guess what they tell me the total is...... $2200.00. Are you kidding me!? These people are thieves. They make up their own prices. Incredible. Rental scam PART 2! (for Part 1 see Alamo review below) This is the second time that I have been given a damaged car and had a claim filed against me from a car rental place at the Ontario airport. After crossing Alamo (and partners Enterprise and National), and now Budget off my list, I am running out of options. Anyhow, I picked the car up in Palm Springs in total darkness, took a look around the vehicle (unguided by a staff member, BTW) and did not see any visible damage (pitch black in the lot, no lights). i drove the car to Ontario and on returning the car, the Budget attendant pointed out some damage (that I had missed in the dark) and promptly accused me for it. Troy was the reason I became a FastBreak customer. My flight was delayed and I came in late. I had a reservation with another rental car company and they would not stay even 5 minutes after to give me my car. The man was rude and told me they were closed and he would not do anything about it. I had no car. Budget was the counter over and Troy overheard this. He took the initiative to help me with everything. He stayed late and was so professional. More like an owner of a company rather than an agent. After this I have used Budget over 20 times in the past few months. Even Mike at this location was amazing as well. Whenever I fly out of Ontario, Troy is like seeing a good friend. He is like this with each person he interacts with. With all the travel problems that pop-up and I encounter he handles each one with kindness, professionalism and always expedites the process. Budget Rent A Car gave me a fabulous Toyota Rav 4 to drive one-way from Ontario to Oakland. It was a fantastic price - I think it was $83 with no limits on the number of miles, for one day, one-way. I was a happy camper. There was a freak accident at the check-in counter and my driver's license fell between some cracks in the counter. It was impossible to retrieve my license. The clerk was very friendly and very sorry for the accident, and I was able to rent the car anyway. The problem was the follow-up. I was told the counter would be taken apart and my license would arrive via Fed Ex within 24 hours. I have spent over four hours on hold, trying to get answers and it has been 8 days since my license was lost. I had to pay for a duplicate license and I drove the 413 miles praying the whole time that I would not be stopped by the police. I have no idea where my license is now - nobody from Budget will speak to me. I have been hung up on and disconnected (No, I didn't raise my voice). I just want to know: where is my license? Now I have to file a police report in case of identity theft. They would have gotten five stars had this not happened. I was treated with courtesy at every level until they refused to talk to me about the driver's license they lost. read more

I wouldn't even give it one star. Rented me a Nissan Versa with no brakes. Used the car an hour and they charged me 85 bucks. The Versa had over 40,000 miles on it. When I contacted customer service by email and asked for half back because of the issue I was blown off twice. I wouldn't rent anything from them ever again. read more

Nothing "Budget" about it, have to travel for work a lot, so sometimes I'll rent a car. I picked Budget because A. they claimed to have local pickup service, and B. I had a coupon that would have made it the cheaper way to go. Well after booking and paying for my car online, I called to schedule a time to get picked up and well turns out they didn't have pickup service on Saturdays, something that wasn't mentioned anywhere online or throughout the booking process. Also when I entered the coupon code online, the page said that it was accepted but would only be applied when the coupon was presented at the counter, this is the only reason I made the purchase. Then when I came to the office the day of to pick up my car, I was told the discount could not be applied and refused to honor the coupon. And finally, I called them the day before I was to turn the car in, asking if I extended one more day what the cost would be and if there would be any additional fees, they ensured me the cost would be the same as every other day I had the car and there would be no extension fees etc. They even gave me an updated total on the phone. This is the only reason I extended. Well lo and behold, when I received the final bill, there was an extension fee on it! Of course they refused to remove it. When I sent a letter to customer service about my experiences, all I got back was useless generic reply, "We're sorry you had an unpleasant experience, we'll use your experience to improve our customer service in the future". I doubt they even read my letter. All in all, with all the hidden fees and the misleading staff, "Budget" was ultimately far more expensive than your average car rental place, and to top it off, their customer service is horrible so they don't even have that working for them. Don't waste your time. On my next trip I used another car rental service generally thought to be more expensive but ultimately ended up far cheaper, a much friendlier more helpful staff, oh and yeah, they have Saturday pickup service, no problem. read more

This is by far the most frustrating experience I've ever encountered renting a car. You get charge a fee for late return but also a fee for early return? What kind of business model is this? If I return the car early wouldn't that mean they can rent it out again, thus giving a better turnover rate which equals more money. I guess that's not the case when I get tacked with an early return fee of $120. Let me quote what they have on their website, and I'm pretty sure this is false advertising. "7. Budget Lets You Return Early. Need to return your prepaid rental car early? That's fine with Budget. We'll simply recalculate your rental charges based on your new rental time period and refund any overpayment. But Hertz doesn't refund. And Alamo may or may not refund, depending on the location -- and they might even charge an "early return fee." Well I guess they don't believe in their own policy. This review is for the customer service - not the vehicle (I rented an economy car and those are never anything to write home about...) I cannot begin to thank the team at Budget ONT airport enough - after my flight that was to arrive at 11:30pm in was delayed by 2 hours, Laura kept the office open so that I could pick up my rental at 1:30am. I would have been stranded had she, the shuttle drive, and lot guard not stayed until my arrival. Two other budget customers were on my flight as well and we were all very thankful for Laura putting the customer first (no one wants to be up or working at 1:30 / 2am!!) Budget was the only rental counter open when we arrived - talk about standing apart from the other companies to deliver the best customer service. I fly to ONT every couple months and will now rent exclusively from Budget in the future because of this experience. read more

We've rented cars from this location many, many times. We've gone to Vegas and to Arizona and never had problems with a single car, not even the Fords or Chevy's!!!! Every time we've gone, the people working the counter have been very friendly and talkative and more importantly, informative when asking us if we want to upgrade our car selection. We always ask questions about the extra fees, which is always important, because you never want to get stuck paying for things you don't know about, and sometimes we even ask twice to confirm. My last rental was this past weekend, and while I don't know if it was the national number or for this particular Budget location, I am very happy to report that they let me extend my car rental by a couple of hours at no extra charge because I let them know we were stuck in that coming back from Vegas traffic. Every single time I come here the inside windows are filthy making it difficult to see with sun glare and headlights. This time the car wrecked of BO each morning we got into the car. Also windshield fluid was out. When I returned the vehicle the wonderful lady checking me in rudely had nothing to say except TAKE THIS TO THE COUNTER OUT SYSTEM IS OUT so I got in line and and waited and waited. Updated: after my horrendous experience, customer service sent me a $10 "certificate". Even their reparations are crap, as this " certificate" was actually a coupon, meaning that you can't use more than one at a time. Since their rates are stupid high to begin with, I will never find an opportunity to use this. So there is NO recourse for tolerating their bad behavior. Garbage company. I rented a suburban on 07-29-2020 and I called ahead to make sure it was there. when i got there yashal printed up the paper work told me to sgin and handed me the keys. i got the car and drove to the front since i seen a lot of scratches on the car. he said it was ok ," we only car about baseball sized ones" so later when i called to change the drop off location i see that i was charged $ 214.95 extra for optional insurance that i already have with my insurance company. I pay a lot to have full coverage and at $100,000 it covers the car i rented. i tried to get the sales rep to credit it back but he said all he could do is credit 30% of the $ 214.95 and I did not want that. I want the full refund of $ 214.95 i am not trying to pay double coverage for insurance. or pay Budget's insurance premiums. Maybe they havent heard of the Truth in lending laws. it pertains to any contracts being clear and concise . not trying to sneek things onto the contract with out saying anything. I will not stop until i get this refunded. If i have to contact the Attorney General Of California I will. I have filed with BBB already. read more

I am frequent rental car customer. Budget rental in Ontario has always been dependable for my needs but this review is for a recent experience. Poor communication from staff at time of rental. When it came to gas and if I wanted to prepay for a tank, I told them I was only driving less than 50 miles total. The rep said ok then just bring it back if it's less than 75 miles. Now this is not the first time I've had this conversation. I had the same situation in December and almost the same conservation. Basically I was told that there was no need to top of the tank due to the short trip. In December, there was no problem when I brought the car back ... zero mention of adding $13 AND nothing extra was added to my bill. Today the response was "oh we will be charging you an extra $13 to top off the tank". I mentioned that this was not I was told the day before and the person receiving the car said "well that is not true". The moral of the story is I'm not going to listen to what is said at the counter and just top off the car. read more

Need a car for the day while in Riverside and decided to use Budget for my rental needs. All rental cars are located off the airport, so you have to take a shuttle no matter which company you use to the Rental Area. Since I'm part of their fast track membership I was able to walk up to the counter and they had all my information and directed me to their rental section for their car. The rate charge for the day was $30 for a compact. But since they had plenty of cars in the lot they gave me a loaded VW Jetta, complete with Touch Screen Satellite Radio & Sun Roof. I know some of you are thinking, yeah big deal, but if you've done enough rentals like me, this wasn't your typical $30 car rental. The car was clean and drove nice. No funky smells. They even do the walk around for you before leaving to make sure everything in working order. Check was a breeze too. They had all my information and took less than 5 minutes when they had my receipt. Overall, very positive rental experience and definitely got value out of the price I paid. Solid 4 star experience and would recommend people to rent from this Budget location. read more

I rented a car and returned it the same day. I was charged for 4 days! Plus they charged me gas for each day at $9.99 a gallon! When I called to learn what was going on I got very upset and said "You have got to be Fu*king kidding me" at that moment I was threatened to be hung up on. Not only did they charge me $620 more than they were supposed to but now they are going to hang up on me??? I waited 20min to speak to a supervisor who said she can see all the mistakes and said sometimes this happens, really? People at this place make $800 mistakes?
