Update: We walked next door to Hertz and were given a brand-new, larger SUV for $100 less. So not only were we treated with complete disrespect at Budget, but it turns out you're not even saving money to endure such poor service. --- I am extremely disappointed with the lack of customer service and the unprofessional behavior I experienced at this location. A staff member, Anwol, was shockingly rude and condescending. At one point, after I walked away, he was overheard speaking negatively about me to my husband. While Danielle was completing our reservation, Anwol continued to make unnecessary comments. When I asked him to stop, he said, "You know what Danielle, cancel their reservation." She complied. I then asked for the contact information of another manager, which Anwol refused to provide. I eventually spoke with Christobol Garsus (236-457-3785). After hearing my concerns, he was unapologetic and stated he would not assist with our reservation either. It is astonishing that a global company--especially one operating in Canada, where customer service is typically exceptional--would allow this kind of behavior at an airport location, where travelers are often exhausted and simply seeking a smooth experience. This is not the standard anyone should encounter after stepping off a plane. I will not be using this company again. In such a competitive industry, this level of disregard for customers will make it very difficult for your business to retain loyalty. read more

Following my refund request to Budget Corp, the locally head office of customer service Dept from Nanaimo BC went ahead and honour my reimbursement of $1300.00. This amount was the difference in the prepaid price from the initial SUV reservation to the standard car. The bottom line is NEVER do online "prepaid" reservation with a second or third party!!!! read more

Spoke to a nice lady at the Budget Kelowna counter, pleasant to deal with , upgrade us to a VW from a Ford SUV, that is where the one star comes from. I had prepaid online for the vehicle something I don't normally do, usually pay when we pick-up. if you are not specific on your time schedule and heaven help if the airline delays your departure or arrival time , because now budgets goes into action and will basically screw you over on a prepaid. Contacted Raj at the local Budget store as well there corporate office and due to picking up and returning early or late we are penalized (on both ends, pick up and drop off by no more than an hour).Apparently they could have rented that vehicle out. I should mention our vehicle had not been cleaned inside or out. We prepaid online $646 and got a receipt at the end of our rental the actual cost was $552 (difference of $94. We thought (silly us) we will get a refund , not there policy. Well this is where the corporate office will spin it the take advantage of the little guy . You either play there game or they will have no problem taking advantage of the situation but will rub it in your nose that guess what your total actual bill was less than the prepaid, but don't look for a refund. First the vehicle should have been cleaned , which it was like maybe a lick and promise , why i carry wipes. That vehicle was in the lot so saying you could have rented out , well that is lip service , take care of the little guy one customer at a time to retain and they will come back . Budget is not someone I would rent from again. So be aware perspective renters that prepaying (at least with Budget) and god help you don't pick up early or drop off late. read more

Don't rent from these crooks, charged me $1,000 to return to Calgary. A terrible and unfortunate event occurred today, a fatality on highway 1, just west of Revelstoke, the highway was closed for 8+ hours. Rather than missing my flight out of Kelowna, I rebooked out of Calgary and returned the rental car there. Was just in BC 2 weeks ago and had to do the exact same thing due to weather, enterprise charged me $75. Will be disputing and never doing business with this company again. read more

Kelowna Budget office advertises as being closed at 10 pm. Our flight was scheduled to arrive at 10:22 pm. I attempted to call their office, but no one picked up the phone at 8:40 pm. After we arrived, there was no option for the keys to be left for us for pickup, so we had to pay for a taxi to take us to our hotel that evening. Then we had to pay a Taxi to drive us back to the airport to pick up the rental car the next day. The Budget rep at Kelowna airport had mentioned that the phone number listed does not go to the airport but to somewhere else offsite. The Kelowna Budget office should have a phone for customer service. The Kelowna Budget should be a system in place to leave my vehicle's keys. They were aware that I was picking up a vehicle that evening. read more

Picked up vehicle and 2 days later noticed a very terrible smell, like garbage. The next day found a mouldy Tupperware container under the drivers seat. Contacted budget by phone that morning and informed attendant at that airport but Budget still charged us for the smell. Absolutely awful service the agent was rude ran my card three times for transaction had my card flagged and was unable to use on holiday tell me how a person can book a hotel or do anything with out a card on holidays just rented a car for two months in the US and no issues I rent with Budget about 4-6 times a year. they have completely lost my business. Honestly, if you're going to run a car rental place that offers a GPS system, you should probably try taking one out on the road yourself to see if it actually works. Three times (!), Budget's GPS tried to direct me down dirt roads -- roads which paralleled the main highway (which, of course, I should have been on). In one case, I drove for five minutes along a dirt road convinced it knew where it was going. (I don't live in the area so I certainly didn't know the right route to the resort I was going to. That's why I got a GPS!) That particular sojourn ended, literally, in a dead-end. Getting the car and returning it seemed to be an unusually long process. Checking the car out, in particular, took forever. I have bought companies whose contracts had less places to sign, initial, and place a thumbprint of your own blood. I had the car for about 24 hours. The guy told me it would be $19.99 plus $6.99 for their "top-up" insurance in case my Gold credit card wouldn't cover anything. (I thought that was the point of those cards!) Whatever. So I figured I'd be paying about $32 or so. Only when I checked in did I discover that the fee would be for two full days (even though I was close to a 24-hour window) for both the rental and the extra insurance. So it ended up costing me double what I had expected. I supposed someone who rents cars all the time would have known that, but I don't. I assume when people say "That's going to be $6.99," that that's the price I'll pay. If it's going to be "per day," don't you think they should tell you that? There was nobody at the return spot outside so I went in to return it -- friendly young woman helped me, took the GPS fee off, and gave me an additional 10% off, so that was a nice touch. And, like the check-out of the car, this process seemed unnaturally long. Apparently "the system" kept booting her out as she was trying to process the discount. Best part: One of their employees, Jonathan, wears a nametag which proudly says "Working Here for 3 Years!" It's proudly stamped into his nametag. Kelowna Airport Rental Car Rip Off Warning - Never Rent from Budget at the airport in Kelowna they are thieves. We rented a truck for 10 days in August. My wife was the only driver and I was with her on every trip and we never had a rock or debris hit our windshield. They charged my credit card $110 for no reason - came up with a lame BS explanation of a time stamp after return where they pointed out the damage. They never considered they may have missed this when they gave out the truck or other possible explanations. Customer service non existent. We are there monthly and will do everything in our power to not only avoid them - but I will stand in line explaining to as many folks as I can. Budget at the Kelowna Airport are thieves. read more

Manager Richie Bennett had me put on do not rent list. After he didn't do his job and charged my credit card with out my permission. Than continued to mot do his job and had the car repaired at a shop that took 40 days. Which I was charged 40 days of lost use. Called the shop, they said it was all because waiting on Tichie to order parts. Almost 2000 in extra charges after being rear ended by someone. And renting over 4 cars a month from this company. Now he tries to hide info and ignore fixing his issues he has created! And another location in kamloops bc. Car was vandalized, went through insurance. They forgot to file it, sent it to credit butu and put a scratch on credit even though they got payment for repair. There reply, it must of been the clerks fault. Budget, where have you gone wrong. This franchise location offers NO airline frequent flyer miles, only AirMiles, who collects Airmiles except a handful of Canadian housewifes (btw I am Canadian, incase you're wondering). Service was adequately friendly, offering snow tires to their renters in the middle of winter (what a thought), oh, and it's another $15 if you want snow tires. Now this is starting to remind me of the European Airline that charges to use the lavatory (won't mention their name as this is about Budget and not that European Airline that charges to use the bathroom). My basic car rental WITH a corporate discount NO insurance or extra's for a compact car (Toyota Yaris) was $75.53, that's right, $75.53 for A DAY. I won't be renting from Budget anytime soon. read more

I rented a car from the Kelowna International Airport for 5 days. I made my rental reservation in advance and brought the confirmation with me; this made it a faster process to get the car. We had to show our driver licenses and credit cards but we didn't need to pay the additional driver fee because I booked it through Costco (so, this is a great hint ;)) Also, my friend has a credit card to cover the rental insurance, so we didn't need to pay for that either. Once we signed the documents the guy gave us the car keys and explained where to pick up the car. Returning the car was also very easy, we just parked in the designated area and a guy came to check everything was okay. We asked if we could split the fee on several credit cards and he did it with no problem. It was a good experience overall. read more

I used budget Rent A Car in Kelowna because with your Costco membership they let you add a second driver without paying an extra fee, and that was perfect for me and my friends. The counter is located just outside of the main exit and in front of the information desk. With the reservation number the paperwork was pretty fast. Driver license of both drivers, credit card and that was it! Time to enjoy Kelowna! We didn't have any problems with the car and after few days we went back to the airport and dropped the car to take our flight back to Edmonton. We parked at the same area where we pick up the car, few minutes after a gentleman approach to us, he took a look at the car and noted the level of the gas. We asked if we could split the rental fee in three different credit cards and without hesitate they did that for us! So once again, I'm a fan of Budget Rent A Car and I would definitely use them again on my next visit to Kelowna read more

Called head office airport etc, no one wants to waive or even lower the fee based on compassion, or even a little bit if humanity. 3 days of issues with 3 cars ! first car had flat tire, nails.... Second car was like a small toaster and we refused it. Third car was " oil issue, when we turned on the engine ! " told its fine, not to worry. ( took a photo ASAP with date and time on it. ) We were billed for not filling the tank (1/4) on first car over $60.00+ and billed for the last car dropped off at 3am. its not free to drive back and forth to the airport, we used gas. No gas stations open, and Richie manager said he would cover it for the inconvenience of this issue. Yes he did by billing me for the 1/2 a tank of gas at a ridiculous price. I should bill him for time wasted driving back and forth to the airport in 3 days and business put on hold that we flew out to do in Kelowna and other towns. This is a private franchise not affiliated with Budget when you call to make a complaint. I got no where when I called. I talked to a girl that really didn't sound very interested. We booked online and the price was $1200 for two weeks for an SUV. At the Kelowna airport office we were told that due to " yada, yada yada" it was $2000 dollars. Totally deceptive marketing and gouging of the customer base. We told the redhead and the blonde this and they said it must have been because we booked through the Australian website. They kept repeating this even though we told them 3 times that we booked through the .com.ca website - the Canadian one. They treated us in a very condescending and terse manner. So the staff are unpleasant to deal with. Now to the car.... As we were going to a ski resort we booked an SUV. What we got was one of those light weight pretend SUV's , the sort that is used by suburban parents to take the kids to soccer on Saturdays. There was no 4 wheel drive capability and only traction control. The vehicle was supposed to have All Season tyres on it but they looked like standard ones and the tread was worn a long way down. The drive to our destination was sketchy at best. The roads had been freshly sanded and cleared and there was no black ice. Yet despite this the traction control on our "SUV" kicked in numerous times as it couldn't cope with these relatively benign conditions. It also drifted at one point, something that should not have been able to happen. Basically it's a crappy car that should never be rented as an SUV. We are not amateurs either. We have been coming to this area and doing this drive for 14 years and this was without a doubt our worst experience ever. We will not use Budget again. read more

I rent frequently from Kelowna airport and unfortunately have had to rent from Budget a few times as my corporate system pushed me to Budget. They never email your receipts to you unless you ask, and even then it only happens half the time. The waits are always long and who wants airmiles as frequent flier miles???? If you need to go back and get information on your rental, Budget corporate has no info as they are a franchise owned. AND their cars are crap. Even upgrades. I am switching to Avis or National when I rent at Kelowna. read more

I needed a 7 seater SUV that was affordable but was hesitant to rent from Budget at the Kelowna airport due to some negative reviews that I had read. Our experience was a very good one with Budget. The SUV was exactly what we needed. It was clean, had no mechanical issues while we had it and the pick up and drop off were quick and efficient. When we left it in the lot we were told that what we had been quoted upon pick-up would be what we would be charged. Overall, very happy! read more
