The service representative that was working today 5/20/24 at 2:30pm in the Lakewood, WA store was very unprofessional, unpleasant, & not helpful AT ALL. I asked her if Budget had a discount for military and the service rep said "only online", I asked her what a "mystery vehicle" was and she proceeded to tell me it was "whatever vehicle she picked for us". Upon arrival she informed us that the ONLY vehicle she had available for us to rent was a "Suburban". So I proceeded to ask the service rep if I pick "mystery vehicle" online and the only vehicle you have is this Suburban I'd get it for the mystery vehicle price correct? The service rep proceeded to argue with me telling me "No it is considered an L class vehicle therefore it's $780.00 for the 2 weeks or nothing at all" telling my husband and I that we can go to Enterprise right down the road. So after her nasty unpleasant attitude we came to enterprise in Lakewood and got a vehicle for 1 week for $330. So thank you for saving us money with your unprofessional ass. I went online, through Hotwire to rent from Budget at 5124 W, 74th Street West, Lakewood. When I arrived the man was rude and unhelpful. He said they had no cars. I asked why I wasn't informed that. He said he didn't know. I asked if he could find another dealer. He said other dealers didn't have cars. I asked what about the airport. He said he didn't know. I asked if he could call. He said "No". I was shocked and asked why not. He shrugged his shoulders and said "you can look up their number on google". I told him I thought that he was extremely unhelpful. I needed to rent something very cheap for a two day Portland trip. This place is 30 seconds from my house and 30 seconds from the gas station, so it's very convenient. The car selection wasn't huge from what I could see, but I rented the cheapest car possible for $70 so it didn't make a difference. Customer service was great. Especially since I left a pair of $300 glasses in the car and it was noticed and returned immediately. Very honest and sincere staff which makes me want to rent from them again. read more

Do yourselves a favor and go with hertz. Budget is horrible especially the one in Lakewood. Would give no stars or negative stars if that was an option. First off I booked online and prepaid $702 which was already way overpriced to rent a car for a week and a half. Reguardless I needed to rent a car so I went in to pick it up and the guy I'm assuming the manager of the place was terrible. He was so rude and began causing issues right from the start. Even the family in front of us was upset and left the store because of him. First he had an issue with my card payment and was refusing to accept it because it was my name on it and not my girlfriends because she booked the car. Then he charged me $702 again in store. When I asked why he was charging me and I told him it was prepaid he said that the prepay would go away or I can call a number. Luckily a woman intervened that was working there and she was a little nicer and took my card. So I waited for one of the payments to be refunded like they said and we returned the car a week and a half later on time only to be told that we have to go wash the car because there were a few bug splatters on it. This was very annoying but we did it and returned the car. A week later I am still being charged twice for the car making $1400 total. When I called customer service they told me the prepay should have been refunded the day I picked up the car and that all that guy had to do was push a button on his screen. Not calling customer service and having to fix it myself. Now I have to wait another week for the refund. On top of the almost three weeks that I have been waiting already. Don't bother going into this place. The guy is clearly an idiot. Hertz in Lakewood on the other hand was amazing. Charged me only the one time in store. Told me it was cheaper to bring the car back on empty and were super enjoyable ladies to work with. read more

Absolute worst company EVER!!! I called them made a reservation to rent a car they immediately charged my credit card. Then I get a call 15mins later saying they do not have a vehicle to rent me and there 3 other locations are also sold out and dont have any vechiles either. They stated they could not refund me and I needed to rent a vehicle that day! Why would you charge me before I even picked the vehicle up? Told me it would take 3-5 days for a refund. Made a reservation online for a truck and a tow dolly a couple weeks before I moved. Called the Wednesday before the Friday of my reservation to verify everything was good and I was told that it was. My dad was flying in that evening and we were planning on packing up and leaving. Got there at my pick up time on Friday and the tow dolly was not there. I dealt with the OWNER of this business, BEN. They asked if I could come back later and I said that would be fine (annoying, but fine). They said they would call me when they knew what time the dolly would be back. I called two hours later and they still didn't know. So around 3, I called again because they closed at 5 and they said it was on its way back. So after loading up as much of my stuff as I could on my own into the truck, I drove to get the tow dolly, only to find out that the ball on my truck had been switched and the tow dolly did not fit. I understand this was not their doing but you'd think since they inspect the truck every time it goes in and out, someone might've noticed. The only option we had was to move all my belongings from one truck to the another. Ben insisted on doing it himself so I just stood there and waited while arranging for someone to go get my dad from the airport......afterwards, I was told I had to gas up the truck before leaving with my new one. I was very upset at his point because of how understanding, patient, and cooperative I had been up until this point and told Ben I wasn't going to do that and he says in a snide tone "Okay , well they're gonna charge you." "They're" as in Budget truck because I signed a contract saying when I dropped off my truck it would be full with gas or they would charge me. I told him I didn't feel that I should have to considering the circumstances and the fact that most of the gas was me driving to and from Budget to pick up the dolly that they didn't have when they were supposed to. He claimed he did all he could. I left in tears because of the stress these people had caused on top of the stress that was already there due to moving. I was really worried about renting a moving truck from here after reading other reviews, but everything turned out okay! We were able to pick the truck up on time, and even though they forgot to include the hand truck that we paid for (which we didn't end up needing anyway) there was no issue with refunding the money for it. Matt and Scott were very friendly and helpful. The only reason I'm not giving 5 stars is because the truck was dirty on the outside and inside, but otherwise everything was great. read more

I booked a rental car at Budget on Saturday for a 4 pm pickup through Kayak. What Kayak failed to inform me was that this location CLOSED at 4! We went anyway to beg and plead and pay extra and luckily (or so we thought) someone was still there. I tried explaining the situation but this guy was RUDE and asked if i could read the sign on the door saying they close at 4 and kept repeating we close at 4 while I tried to explain telling him I understood and he didn't have to be rude. He eventually said to just come in and they'll see what they could do, the whole time loudly complaining so I just turned around and left. I get that Kayak is to blame, but this dude was in customer service. If he had explained to me nicely that they couldn't accommodate me, I wouldn't be here now. Asking me if I was illiterate because of a booking mixup is unprofessional and that guy has no business holding that job. I get that he wanted to leave and I get that it was closing time but he didn't have to be an ass about it. I took my business elsewhere and got a better deal so...*in Drake voice* God's plan. go rent at Enterprise. they've got the deals and the guys there were short staffed and still gave me 10 times better service. READ THIS BEFORE YOU RENT FROM THESE PEOPLE!!! I made a reservation with pick up service well in advance. Budget offers FREE pickup service IF you live within 5 miles of the facility. I live 4.8 miles away. The day of my reservation, I am ready 2 hours in advance bc I have no clue when the person is showing up. It gets close to my official reservation time and I start calling the local office. AFTER 10+ calls, someone finally picks up the phone. I told him I had a reservation with pick up service. He knew about my reservation bc he said I was the only person with a reservation that morning. (this morning..this is still on going) that it would be 5 dollars a mile if he has to come and pick me up. So no one picked me up, I'm late to run all my errands that I had planned bc my car has been wrecked for a week and this guy is trying to swindle me out of more money for something that Budget Rental car offers as a free perk to their customers. I call customer service and they tell me that this is like "a McDonald's franchise refusing to sell Big Macs" - the customer service guy said that what ever they charge me for transportation to the facility (5 dollars per mile) that they would adjust my bill to compensate me for it.. So now it is 2 hours after my reservation was set to start. I call the local office and talk to BEN (the owner) and he now tells me "we don't do pick up service" and that I should "get an Uber or call a cab" ... I guess he read the update on my file that Budget would deduct the amount he would charge for transportation from my final bill bc all of a sudden, they "don't do pick up service" but before it was $5 per mile. Everyone goes thru issues and if you are in need of a moving van or car rental, more often than not, your life is changing or has been interrupted... These people at this location are the last people you need to call if you need to help yourself out of the situation that you are in. I would have given them NEGATIVE 12 stars if I could. We've used this company for their moving trucks twice now. The first experience was smooth and easy. We picked up a 10' truck which was big enough for our small (no furniture except for a bunk bed and two desks) apartment. They had us ready to go and it was the cheapest way to go cause of their discount at the time. The second time there was no discount but it was still cheaper than other truck companies. This time though they apparently got a total random phone number under our account so they couldn't let us know that our truck was unavailable at 7 am. Knew we should've called JUST in case the day before but nope...didn't happen. So we had to wait till 7:30 to find out if they could get a truck out to us. We couldn't get one till about 9....good news though is that they got us it earlier than that around 8:40 and they gave us a 24' charging for a 10'! I was just happy that the truck wasn't over $100 to use! It was also a good thing we got a 24' because it gave us the extra room we needed along with the ramp considering it was just me and my boyfriend. Friendly and good customer service. Be sure to bring in your printed quote or consumer beware! Further, the staff and the owner in particular fail to understand the concept of customer service. I'm always a little leery of renting from small off-site car rental locations but this Budget rental was great. Nina was so friendly and quick. The whole process was efficient and I was in my rental driving away within about 7 minutes of my arrival. They appear to have a nice selection of vehicles and my Ford Edge was clean, comfy and still quite new looking. I'll definitely rent here again, especially considering that it enables me to avoid the ridiculously high airport surcharges when renting at SeaTac. read more

This place is horrible. The owner is a terrible owner and the better business bureau needs to be aware of the bad practice going on. They have reservations they can't fill. They make false promises to customers saying they will have a moving truck. Anyone who knows or has experienced moving there is a huge reliance on the moving truck. When they can't come through, that's lost time. Time is money, especially when you're paying people for labor. This owner also did nothing to compensate and did nothing. Didn't even bother to do research to see if other sites had a truck. He even was going to charge four service men in the army $240 because their car was dirty. Amazing people who work there. I had an accident back in 2011 and they were able to come pick me up on Base when enterprise and hertz said no. They worked with me on so many occasions. I could not ask for a better group of people who are there now. Two years and going strong that i will continue to go to them. With great costumer service and amazing smiles on their faces and how helpful and quick with answer they have. I would love for someone in their company that is in a high position to give these amazing group of people an award. I never ever had a problem with them about anything. I never heard a attitude from none of them. They are always happy and nice and kind to each other and to customers. Even when they are busy they take time to say hello and they will be with you in a minute. I never ever heard that from anyone else. I recommend this Budget location to anyone who is looking for good service and friendly customer service. read more
