I rented a vehicle from Hertz on June 17th at 1:00 p.m. The car was in poor condition from the…read morestart--dirty seats, interior stains, and broken buttons on the steering wheel. I took the car home to deep clean and detail it myself just to make it usable. By 10:00 a.m. the next day (June 18th), I returned the vehicle because of a loud knocking sound coming from the engine. Hertz instructed me to take it to Pep Boys, who said they could fix the issue the same day if Hertz approved the work order. As of now, Hertz still hasn't approved it, and I've been left without a vehicle. To make matters worse, Hertz refused to give me a replacement, stating I'm "assigned" to the broken vehicle--even though it was clearly unsafe and improperly inspected before I received it. I'm now being held financially responsible for a car I cannot even drive. What's worse is that I was given a receipt showing photos of the car with a forged signature, falsely claiming I had approved its condition. I never signed that document, and no one took pictures in my presence. Forging someone's signature is illegal. I'm consulting legal counsel about this. More red flags from this location: 1. A steering wheel button was completely broken off--reported verbally by me on return. 2. The car was issued filthy and in unacceptable condition. 3. I called the Hertz location twice on June 18 around 5 p.m. No one answered. I had to pay for a Lyft ride to go in person, only to be told I couldn't cancel the reservation. 4. When I walked in, the front desk clerk was talking to his friend (not a client) in the lobby. After a short exchange with me, they left through the back door and left me alone in the building during an active severe thunderstorm warning. 5. Pep Boys confirmed that the car needed brakes, rotors, and stabilizer fluid--all major safety issues that should have been caught in inspection. 6. I received the car from Pep Boys on Friday, June 20 around 4pm. It was towed Saturday, June 21st due to the car jerking, shutting off, & the engine turning on. If this is the standard Hertz allows, shame on them. Do better.

On further inspection when turning on the heat, it smelled horrible. All you could smell is cigarette smoke and wet dog. After a few days it got so strong that I could not take it anymore. I tried calling 5 times to see if I could exchange but they would never answer the phone. It would just ring constantly. This is when I brought it back to the N. Shadeland location. I was then told that they had no cars available and that I would have to go to the airport which is location across town. I finally got fed up and sent a complaint to Hertz corporate office. That when they told me there was nothing they can do and apologized for my experience. I have rented from Hertz many times over the years and I have never been treated like this. I will never deal with Hertz again.

While I had to wait about 30 minutes for my car (I picked it up when a lot of people were dropping theirs off, so the cars had to be cleaned), the staff was extremely friend, the waiting area was clean, and they offered my mom and I bottled water. When I dropped my car off, the process was easy, too. Overall, a great experience and I will rent here again when I visit Indianapolis again.

I booked out a rental 1 week in advance for a trip. Now for the 10k I've used the exact same credit card every single time. I show up to receive the rental and apparently because the credit card didn't match exactly my drivers license name, Im not talking last name, that matched, im not talking billing address or zip, that all matched, im talking first name. And the person checking me, literally checked me in just in December, everything the exact same, literally the exact same. He says he's going to hold it, so I can get another card, in meantime I call corporate, they look my account up and said yes you have used same card everytime and booked it with the same card, their shouldn't be a problem. He writes up some review sends it to the worker and says go back. I go back the worker said out of luck I rented the vehicle, now keep in mind this was within 15mins, I get upset, but never cussed, threatened, or screamed but was visibly upset, and he asks me to leave the facility. I was with my 77 year mother and brother. Luckily I found a vehicle at the airport through a different provider and guess what absolutely no problem was so ever and I never had done business with let alone over 10k in last 18months..Anyways I stay away from this branch or any branch of Enterprise.

I talked to the company owner who insisted the Impala was a 2020 and nice car, but I use airport service often and this was not an acceptable vehicle for this type of service- it did not have the feel of a high end, luxury vehicle inside, both in the quality of the interior nor the ride. I would recommend using another airport car service company if you are looking for the "luxury" experience this company claimed to deliver.
