Hampton Inn & Suites Memphis-Beale Street - Guest room

***Good location***…read more Go down the block and you're right at Beale Street. FedEx Forum is across the street. Baseball stadium is diagonally across the street. Able to walk to Sun Studio 0.8 mile away, Charlie Vergoss Rendezvous (but there's better food to be had than there), Peabody Hotel is a block away. One downside: Lyft drivers seemed confused about where to drop off or pick up, usually stopping on the other side of Peabody Place. The back courtyard entrance of the hotel, near the parking garage, is somewhat hidden even when I gave the Lyft drivers directions. Clean - including the top of the shower curtain railing, I checked. Housekeeping - didn't need cleaning or bedding changing, just a change of towels. The young housekeeping black man(forgot his name) was very personable and accommodating. Breakfast buffet - the two women worked hard, constantly keeping the area clean and tidy, having food out, and taking our plates away when done. Standard fare - eggs (omelet or scrambled), sausage links or patties, potatoes, do it yourself waffles, oatmeal, breads, yogurt, coffee & tea & juice. Fruit was not ripe. Room- the *best shower water pressure* I've ever felt! A night light was in the bathroom, a considerate feature when the room lights are off. Above the center night stand, the electrical outlet on the left needed occasional jiggling to maintain a connection, I forgot to tell the front desk about this. Mattress and pillows were comfortable. A/C worked well. One con: inquired about late checkout as a Hilton Honors member and was told it was not possible. That's the first time I was ever told that.

It benefits from a great location being within steps of Beale Street, and both Grizzlies and Redbirds games! It's also quiet on the upper floors, and the breakfast is spectacular as always. Parking will set you back $26 every 24 hours and an additional hourly charge for staying past 1:00 p.m. the following day. So yeah, you pay for the location. It's not a great bargain for the price. But it's good enough if you want to stay in the heart of Memphis. The music from Beale Street is loud throughout the night, but the hotel is kind enough to provide earplugs in your room. That leaky toilet will keep you up all night, though! And the outlets are so stripped, you'll get an unpleasant surprise in the morning when you realize your devices haven't recharged!! That was the worst aspect of this hotel!!

Tucked close enough to Beale Street that you can feel the city's pulse without being swallowed by…read moreit, the Canopy Memphis is a boutique hotel that wears its modernity lightly. The design is clean and considered warm tones, thoughtful finishes, the kind of contemporary aesthetic that feels curated rather than assembled. You don't walk into a lobby that's trying to impress you; you walk into one that welcomes you. There's a difference, and it matters. The rooms carry that same sensibility. Comfortable in the truest sense not merely adequate, but genuinely restful. The kind of bed you sink into and feel the day release from your shoulders. The kind of space that says you're taken A genuine hospitality that feels rooted in the city itself rather than scripted by a brand manual. Memphis has always been generous that way, and the Canopy reflects it. And then there's the catfish. I don't say this lightly: the catfish here is worth the trip on its own terms. Crisp where it should be crisp, tender where it should yield -- it carries that deep Southern confidence that reminds you food can be both humble and extraordinary at the same time. It's the kind of dish that makes you set down your fork for a moment, not because you're finished, but because you want to be present for it. For travelers who want Memphis without the chaos, who want proximity to the legend of Beale Street but a retreat that breathes, the Canopy is a quiet, well-kept secret. Boutique in the best sense. Modern without being cold. Memphis without apology.

5 STARS - SOUTHERN HOSPITALITY AT ITS FINEST!…read more From the moment I arrived in Memphis, the hospitality was absolutely AMAZING! Before arriving at the hotel, I called to see if an early check-in would be possible. I had the pleasure of speaking with **Ms. Ida**, who greeted me with such warmth and kindness over the phone. She was incredibly pleasant and encouraged me to come in, as they might be able to accommodate my request. When I say her customer service was exceptional, I truly mean it! In fact, I made it a point to confirm her name because I wanted to personally thank her once I arrived. Upon arrival, **Mr. Jaylon** assisted us with check-in, and he was just as wonderful! He was professional, welcoming, and went above and beyond to make the process smooth and pleasant. I even asked if **Ms. Trivea** was Ms. Ida because I was so eager to meet the sweet lady I had spoken with earlier. They informed me that Ms. Ida was in the back assisting other guests over the phone. During my stay, I realized I had forgotten a few personal items and stopped by the gift shop, where I had the pleasure of interacting with **Ms. Trivea**. Let me just say, her hospitality was ABOVE AND BEYOND! She was genuinely kind, helpful, and made me feel so welcomed. **I travel quite frequently, and I can honestly say that genuine kindness and hospitality of this caliber are becoming harder and harder to find.** What I experienced from these three individuals was nothing short of exceptional! To the hotel management, **THANK YOU for having Ms. Ida, Mr. Jaylon, and Ms. Trivea at the forefront of your establishment!** These individuals are truly an asset to your team and represent your hotel with excellence. Their kindness, professionalism, and genuine care made an already wonderful trip to Memphis even more memorable. And as for the accommodations? **Everything was wonderful! The hotel was beautiful, comfortable, and I SLEPT LIKE A BABY!** I cannot thank you all enough for making my stay so unforgettable. This is the type of experience that turns a first-time guest into a returning customer! **If you're visiting Memphis and looking for exceptional service, genuine Southern hospitality, and a comfortable stay, look no further!** **Five stars across the board! I will DEFINITELY be back!**

Comfy Heavenly Beds, large bathrooms with separate showers and tubs, a nice gym, and a good bar and restaurant on-site. I stayed here for a few nights and my visit was decent. It was in a great location next to the FedEx forum and not a far walk to other places around the area to eat. The bedrooms were clean and tidy, there was a mini bar included with different types of alcohol inside available for purchase at an insane up-charge. Same with snacks in the room for an insane up-charge. When I first arrived at the hotel the remote for the TV was missing so I had to get housekeeping to come bring me a new one. Happy to confirm the TV is smart and you can stream Netflix and Prime.. IYKYK. If you have Elite Status of Platinum or higher this location offers a complimentary breakfast for each day of your stay and it includes a guest and valued at $30 per person per day. That's a great perk. I did dine in at the restaurant inside the hotel and I was not impressed with their dinner. The place was completely vacant, it took a few minutes to be seated and when asked for a drink I said I would grab something from the happy hour menu. My server said they didn't have happy hour that day and I corrected him and said there is a sign in the elevator that states there was a happy hour going on. He went to confirm and eventually got me a drink at a happy hour price. For dinner I ordered the steak when I received it, it was hardly warm, practically cold. Same with the dry mashed potatoes that came along with it. I left it alone and ate since I was starving and also tired and ready to go to bed. I probably won't be returning to the onsite restaurant. Just a note: the in-room dining menu is for the same restaurant but the menus are not the same. In-room dining has a more limited menu, if you want more of a selection go inside the restaurant and dine in or take it to go. Other than the restaurant, the hotel is a good choice for the area.

To be perfectly forthcoming, a huge part of the enjoyment in staying here is the fact that I am a big Elvis Presley fan. Let's be real, you're gonna have a much better time staying here if you're already a fan. Having said that, I feel like this place is elevated enough that even a non-Elvis fan could find enough to enjoy here. Perhaps someone who actively dislikes Elvis wouldn't want to stay here, but if you have no opinion on Elvis or you're only moderately aware of him, you're probably going to love staying at the hotel. To begin with it's a very secure property. The parking lot is patrolled day and night, and there are cameras everywhere. It's well known that Graceland is in the middle of a not so good neighborhood, so it's a good idea that they are this vigilant. Literally every night they throw a party in the lobby with live music and a boisterous atmosphere in the bar. It's always upbeat music that you can tap your foot or even dance to if you're so inclined. Various restaurants are available at various price points. One of the restaurants even puts out complementary peanut butter and jelly sandwiches at 9 PM every night if you're so inclined. All of the usual southern cooking is available including barbecue, fried chicken, and other such comfort foods. The common areas are beautiful, and feature elegant furniture and lighting accoutrements. I've always felt like the lobby was something you might see in a place like Las Vegas or New York. The swimming pool is well maintained and includes various seating options with nice soft towels. I've only been out there once, but I enjoyed my time there immensely. The equipment in the gym could probably use an update, but it is functional and it gets the job done. They were smart to place it viewing the courtyard area rather than the main road. Every time I've ever stayed here I've put in a morning walk on one of the treadmills and it's always worked just fine. The rooms are elegant and make good use of muted colors. Expect to see lots of red and black in your room, along with wood grain finishing on most of the furniture. The beds are typically quite firm if that's your thing, in my case I could probably stand for them to be slightly softer but that's typically not what you find in an American hotel room. I've always enjoyed the showers in the hotel room, which feature a double head including a rainfall option. Bath products over the years have always been high-quality, and I'm pleased that they have resisted the temptation to go to the large communal bottles bolted to the wall. Overall it's a magnificent experiencing staying here, and I'm already looking forward to my next visit.

Let's start with my arrival, because getting INTO the hotel was an experience of its own. LOL. The lobby doors were locked, so I pressed the buzzer. No response. Thinking I might have approached the wrong entrance, I walked around to the Starbucks entrance. LOCKED TOO! Eventually, I managed to get inside. Once I made it in, things started looking up. The building has some beautiful architectural character, and both the bellhop and front desk representative were extremely personable and welcoming. Now, let's talk about my ROOM! I stayed in a loft on the sixth floor, and I absolutely LOVED the layout. The space was impressive, thoughtfully designed, and made excellent use of every square foot. Definitely one of the highlights of my stay. HOWEVER, there was one issue I simply couldn't ignore. THE SMELL! There was a persistent, unidentifiable odor throughout the sixth floor and inside my room. I couldn't quite put my finger on it. Was it mildew? Mold? Or perhaps another guest cooking up an international feast that had the entire floor smelling like their kitchen? WHO KNOWS! Whatever it was, it wasn't pleasant. I eventually got used to it, but every time I stepped off the elevator or returned to my room, there it was again. And then there's BREAKFAST. BABY, WHAT A DISAPPOINTMENT! I've stayed at my fair share of Residence Inn properties, and this was easily the worst breakfast experience I've had at one. First, the breakfast area was extremely small and constantly congested. Trying to navigate the space while everyone was attempting to grab breakfast was an experience in itself. The selection was limited, and the food lacked flavor. Honestly, some of it was borderline inedible. The only saving graces were the prepackaged items and the waffles I made myself using the waffle maker. At least I could count on those! LOL. For a property carrying the Marriott name, I expected a little more, especially considering my experiences at other Residence Inn locations. Overall, I genuinely liked the property. The architecture, welcoming staff, and impressive loft were definite highlights. However, the unpleasant odor, disappointing breakfast, and difficulty accessing the building certainly took away from what could have been a much better experience. Would I stay here again? Possibly. But I'd definitely have some questions about that sixth floor before booking another room. And next time, I might just plan on getting breakfast somewhere else!
