My friends and I decided to stay at this hotel for a holiday weekend in Memphis. What drew us here was the central location - We were able to pretty much walk to anything downtown, with Beale Street being just down the block! This is a very nice hotel from the outside and lobby. They also offered a $32 per night valet service, which made things convenient for us when we needed our car. There's also a restaurant connected on the inside. The only quarrel I had was that our room was a bit outdated. It was clean, but during our first night, the beds felt moist for some reason? The bathroom was also incredibly tiny. It was kinda odd to me how nice and new the rest of the hotel looked compared to it. Regardless, we didn't have any issues with our room besides that, and it did give us a good view of some 4th of July fireworks. This is a pretty affordable place to stay if your a tourist and wanting to do things around downtown Memphis. read more

All the gripes here are not consistent with my experience. This opinion is from someone who has traveled extensively and stayed in countless hotel rooms so I have a frame of reference. Logistic notes: - Parking is valet ONLY, currently $32 a day. There are paid parking lots in the area that may charge a little less, but not by much. Attendants are fast, efficient and helpful and you do get in/out privileges. - NO clocks in the room. Some hotels do, some don't. - Adjacent restaurant's food is very good and they are open late. This DoubleTree by Hilton is a good budget hotel, and it's best to have those expectations before booking. Upon checking in the front was very friendly and offered a few restaurants they recommended since we were hungry after flying in. Additionally they handed out chocolate walnut cookies which were soft and good. The location is great - just two blocks away from Beal street and Grizzlies FedEx Forum and directly across the street from the Red Birds minor league Autozone Park. We found that everything in downtown was walkable and was nice to get in exercise on the trip after eating a bunch of Memphis bbq. They also have a small gym with free weights (only dumbbells), bench, and treadmill. Good place to get your heart rate up but don't expect much. It's disappointing that there isn't a pool. The staff do not greet you upon coming in, although the young lady checking us in was professional with us. She was so nice she noticed reservation had one person and there are 2 of us so she added me on. The room was very dirty and unkept. There's stains on the bed. There are holes, cuts, black marks on the walls, spit or something thrown at the wall dripping-dried. The popcorn cielings are dirty and damaged. The chair and ottoman are stained with black stuff, as well as the side of bed has a large black spot of stuff. Table next to bed has brown stuff inbetween glass and table. There's dirt built up in the bathroom corners and tub! It appears the cleaning staff aren't up to par. The furniture is old and worn and mismatched. I wouldn't stay here again bec there's so many other options. Also, we tried to order room service to use our $30 credit and they never answered the phone. The app they use to order not only automatically adds a 20% gratuity, but it doesn't allow you to charge it to your room or use any credit cards other than Mastercard. Hubby finally called front desk to inquire and he ended up having to get dressed and go down to order food to bring up to our room hisself. All of the staff were crunched up together chitchatting so went to the bar to order. The bartender was friendly and very helpful. The Delta Club is delicious! Wings were overcooked. Deviled eggs were nothing special. Fries were good. Bartender recommended the Delta Club and was right! Kudos to him! Hubby had a work meeting this morning and asked if I could have a later check out than 11am and the lady at the desk was very kind and gave us until 12:30. When I left room at 12:20 I ran into a bunch of carts circling my door and a young man waiting for me to exit-wow. He was friendly in telling me where to head to the elevator though. When checking out I asked if we had any credits to use and my hubby said no it should have went towards the dinner. We were informed that "M" may have added me, but didn't save me so I didn't get my $15 credit and she said she couldn't do anything about it. I worked at a Doubletree and know for a fact she couldn't have fixed it. I would rate zero but Yelp wont let me. If this is what Hilton Hotels has become, I'd rather stay at an hourly rate motel. Two days I had to complain about not getting my room serviced by housekeeping. After they did there was hair in the bathtub, trash on the floor and dirty linens on the bed. This place needs updating, cracked porcelain sink and toilet, mildew in the ceiling and TV that spotty reception at best! Wouldn't recommend unless you are desperate...wasn't worth the $1400 a week it cost me. read more

Strawberry Feta Spinach Salad with dead molded strawberries. Really disappointing salad. How can you completely destroy a simple salad?? Not sure how but you sure did. Everything seems to move slower I'm Memphis. Valet parking retrieval was slow, housekeeping request were slow to respond, lunch in the King and Union restaurant took at least 1/2 hr to be served hamburgers and a pasta dish, with no other customers in the restaurant. Hilton needs to spend some money updating the rooms, they are showing their age since they were Double Tree. Wouldn't stay here again until it gets updated and they hire more staff. read more

Another leg of my road trip brought me to Memphis and, more saliently, to the DoubleTree hotel. Initial impressions at the lobby seemed modern and well decorated. The center ceiling of the lobby stretched the entire building's height, and every floor could look down onto the lobby, creating a spacious feeling. However, this positive impression did not last. The floor of my hotel room seemed in need of renovation. The walls and some room doors had chipped paint. The carpet seemed well past its prime, with high-traffic areas discolored. The room itself, a simple room with 2 beds, mirrored the experience so far. The decor and accents (e.g. lamps, paintings) seemed modern, but this could not mask the cracks in the room's ceiling and faded yellow wall color, which resembled 80s electronics that used to be white. Lastly, the heater sounded like a car engine. It rumbled to life on start and made a loud, continuous hum on operation. At the price point of the DoubleTree, I expect better than this. read more

Got here late , because our flight got delayed.Like 1:30-2 am .front desk lady not friendly at all,ask me for credit card for incidentals, gave her one she charged for the $250 , then she said that didn't work.so gave her another one and I guess it was ok.coming to realize they charged the two credit card's for a total of $500. Next morning , we were going out with my wife, and passing through the main lobby, my wife step on dog poop, I did tell the people by the desk , I guess they send someone to clean, they laugh about it. The room got some broken things, you think, the money that they put for incidentals was use on that, I guess not. Run from this hotel and do not look back. After 30 vehicles were broken into in one night in Doubletree downtown Memphis parking lot. The lot that is secure with cameras, fence, gate guards and is valet and cost $32 dollars to park in I tried to ask how this could happen. The staff was so rude and said since my vehicle was not involved they couldn't help. I explained the place was recommended for my daughters wedding and several guest vehicles were broken into they still refused to help. So today I get a call from Everest insurance company who is representing the hotel and basically was yelled at say they could not answer my questions. I tried to tell them they called me but they person kept yelling. Is the hotel now harassing victims by having some possible insurance company calling their home yelling at them? What a shady place. Don't be fooled by the lobby or the location, this hotel is terrible. The staff are less than helpful (could care less, really) and the rooms are in disrepair at best. One room literally had electrical parts with open wiring underneath the non functioning air conditioner, while the room I was moved to literally had parts falling off the door when I walked in. Overall experience was tolerable. I stayed here for business so minimum time in the room, which was okay with me. The shining star for this hotel is the location. Walking distance to restaurants, entertainment, and museums. This was my first time in the Memphis and being close to everything did not disappoint. Unfortunately, the rest of the accommodations were below expectation. The room was literally falling apart and did not feel clean. There were crumbs in the floor and residue on the furniture and bathroom. Most of the staff was welcoming, with the exception of one not so great interaction where it felt like they did not want to be bothered. The gym was super small and heated to the point you break a sweat walking in, so that could be good or bad. I have been having mixed experiences at doubletrees over the past few years, I went in with managing my expectations and preparing for an outdated establishment. What a beautiful hotel, quite possibly THE BEST Doubletree I've stayed in all of my travels as a Diamond. My room is FANTASTIC... Wait, may have been to quick to write this review before noticing the asbestos and peeling paint. Definitely need some work in my room and quite sure throughout the rest of the property. If I can see it, it's worse than I think it may be... It's an older building, and while I'm critical, it's a comfy and spacious room nonetheless. Price aside this hotel falls short of the Hilton Standard: the staff at checkin did not accommodate our room request away from an elevator, and the front desk clerk was unfriendly, and unwelcoming. Servicing the room was by request only, the facility is dated and worn, to say nothing of the pile of rugs in the corner of lobby for 4 days... the fitness room lacked water and the elliptical machine was on its last legs!. If I could give this NO stars I would. The absolute most HORRIBLE experience I have ever had with a hotel. We paid the $200+ it was to even stay there to begin with, had to park in a paid parking zone for $36 for 12 hours, only for us to get ready to leave and realize someone had broken into our vehicle sometime over night. Of course there were no cameras around. Not that the police would have done anything anyway. We were given a false sense of security by the police cruisers driving by often. STAY SOMEWHERE ELSE. In town for the Grizzley's game and we decided to stay here since it's close to Beale St, and other amenities are close by. Valet is delayed coming and going so have plenty of patience dealing w/them! Front desk were wishy washy. Some cool, some weird. They pissed off the others I was with bring stingy with the cookies. Now I'm not familiar with these cookies, but the other people I was with were upset over them so they must've bn some damn good cookies to get mad about. They loss 2 stars from me due to a late check out issue. We requested a late check out due to me having a later flight and was told 12pm would be ok, well the front desk and maids kept xallungband knocking on the door. PISSED ME OFF!!!! This is ignorant as hell... If you grant a late check out, honor it and respect it. That alone would make me not go back! They also had the nerve to be slow when we called for towels & things and we didn't even let them service our room only requested new towels. Rooms are dated. Hotel is dated. They could use a face-lift especially for the rates they're charging here. read more

We stayed for three nights in January. The staff was nice and the accommodations were what we would expect at that price point. Unfortunately, two of the three days, there was no cold water due to the freezing temperatures, and one of the days had no water at all. We had to walk across the street in 10 degree weather to the Peabody to use the bathroom, and we were unable to take a bath. There were also two false fire alarms, one happening at 3am. While I understand that the winter conditions were a large factor, I would still expect some sort of compensation for our troubles. They adamantly offered no compensation or refunds when we asked several times. That will teach me to avoid paying ahead of time at a Hilton property if I ever stay at one again. read more

I booked this hotel in downtown and near the river because I assumed I would have time to get out and wander around the heart of the city. But alas, after a day of driving, I was dead on my feet and just wanted to relax. The valet crew was terrific about getting my car unpacked and organized on a bell cart. I was happy as a clam to be able to check in a little early. Traveling with an elderly 4-legged critter definitely changes how you interact with travel destinations. The front desk crew put me on a lower floor, which I truly appreciated (lots of walks for the pup). One downside of traveling with a furry friend at this hotel is that there really isn't much in the way of grassy areas for pups to relieve themselves. The hotel itself is beautiful and honors the city in many small ways. The lobby is open and welcoming, with glass elevators that look out over the lobby as you travel to your floor. For baseball fans, there is a stadium across the street ( I will definitely be back for that). The hotel is walking distance to the river and major entertainment spots in the city. If you are hungry, check. out the bar/restaurant attached to the hotel (get the meatloaf with gravy... sigh). In regards to the staff, the day staff was wonderful and friendly. Once the evening staff arrived, that changed. Having worked my way through college at the front desk of a Hilton hotel, I understand the pressures of the swing shift, and staffing issues due to covid add to what the service industry has to deal with. That being said, I noticed a distinct difference between the afternoon and evening shift. Day shift was friendly and helpful, and the evening shift was chilly and a bit condescending. Friendly front desk staff. Lobby nicely renovated. Rooms are in need of renovation. Rooms have hardly any light- no floor lamps. So, it was too dark to see the coffee maker buttons to figure out how to set coffee to only 1 cup, so it came out of both slots when I only wanted one. Even with more light the next morning, while I made sure to only push the left button for left slot, it then only delivered half the water. It would be good to have instructions for the machine, such as those left on Keurig machines. The alarm clock had clear instructions for setting the alarm- but the clock wouldn't accept those instructions. The clock told time- that's it. Found pole for one curtain randomly sitting in corner next to window rather than on the shade. No fridge or microwave- which is less than what most hotels offer. The windows are very old wooden ones and one of mine was closed, wouldn't latch. Consequently, the seal wasn't good and lots of road noise was easily heard, such as trucks starting to unload at 6am. The hotel staff are friendly and amazing they are so friendly and polite. The rooms are clean and well kept. They do have challenges like any older hotel but they work hard to make it right. I stayed here with a Gate1Tour group exploring Memphis. I was impressed by how organized the staff was in collecting luggage from 38 travelers. No less than four workers seamlessly and accurately delivered pieces to at least 20 different rooms within a half-hour. Speaking of rooms, our Standard double-queen had been updated which was nice. The thermostat worked well, as did our bath plumbing and the coffee maker. The room was fairly quiet, but do know that you are within a few short blocks of lively Beale Street so BRING EAR PLUGS just in case.... Hot and Continental Breakfast is on hand in the morning for between $5 and $10. It's nothing special, but i will give a plug for how tasty the fresh crispy bacon was. read more

This place looks nice when you walk in but man not when you get to the rooms... not even close. We have been driving all day and wanted to stay in a comfortable room. They are in the midst of remodeling as well. Our first room was gross with tiles from the ceiling falling out and the phone didn't work and the room smelled musty. The second room smelled nicer, still dated but found a used soap in the bathroom.... I am so disappointed. I am not a complainer but I just don't want someone passing through like us at night to go through this. Plan on "passing" instead of stopping in Memphis next time. Never again. The hotel is dirty. The pool closed a few years ago. The won't give out cookies. Only if you are checking in. No AC in the hallways. We are visiting in August during excessive heat advisory. The room AC never gets to temp. The hallways smell of fresh paint. We tried the hotel restaurant. Food was good but the place is old and dirty. We were the only ones there for lunch. Valet only parking. There's only 1 valet. They park your car in a parking garage less than a block away and it's $32/day. Takes forever to get your car. There's a Hilton Garden in right next door with parking. You're better off choosing that one if your looking to be downtown. read more

Hotel: needs a overdue makeover. You're better off booking across the street at the Hilton Garden Inn. A lot of wasted empty space in the lobby area. It just seems like this is a Hilton that the corporate office decided just to forget about. I honestly think that even if the money isn't their to fix this place. There could be better management. We stayed there last night. Hesitant because of the negative reviews. Our experience was very different. The lobby is a beautiful open space with a grand piano. Our room was clean, very comfortable bed with upscale linens, plenty of towels!! The lobby bar was fun. We had apps that were great. We have traveled all over the world. The worst hotel experience I have had in years. I'm leaving this review at 1am because I cannot sleep due to the noise from what seems like the Formula 1 racetrack outside my window; People literally racing cars in circles around the hotel the last two nights. That, and thumping music all night long from the passing cars. Fireworks from the ballpark started at 9pm but were done by 9:15pm. The carpet in my room is stained and matted down not unlike that in a bar. The lamps don't work in my room and the drawers don't close on the dresser. I just watched a huge spider crawl across the ceiling and am pretty certain it will be crawling into bed with me soon. The place smells musty all over. The bathroom tile has mildew and the floor looks filthy. The only remotely good thing was the restaurant downstairs and the Peabody hotel next door. This experience has been shocking to say the least and for $200 per night it makes me resentful. The city of Memphis has to get this noise under control and this hotel needs a complete makeover. read more

I paid $230 during a weekday stay for a business trip. My room was very noisy because this hotel has an atrium style corridor so the whole place is an echo chamber at night. The room had a terrible moldy smell and the carpet was so damp it made my socks feel wet. The pillows also felt damp from humidity. The bathroom floor was dirty and dusty - even though the room had been serviced. The coffee maker didn't work. Pick another place. Update. Light bulbs out in the bathroom and when I got out of my shower I was greeted by a live cockroach. read more

Let me preface this two star review by saying that this review does not reflect the staff inside the hotel. Upon check-in and throughout our stay the front desk to housing keeping was friendly and polite. With that said, Hilton needs to strongly consider renovating this hotel. Our floor, the 10th, smelled funky, the carpet dated, and our room was small with obvious "repairs" made, primarily in the bathroom. The room was clean but the bed uncomfortable and the tv had a very limited channel selection. I found all of this odd as a Silver HHonors member, I stay in various Hilton partners hotels often and Double Tree is usual very nice. This two star review would be a one star if it wasn't for the inside staff. What dropped this hotel is the fact that the valet dented the rear bumper of my rental car. When informed, they did not argue this and wrote it up. As of right now nothing has come of it and I'm hoping the rental company doesn't notice the damage. Decent hotel...great value and location for any event near downtown Memphis. Unlike many of the other reviews I found my accommodations suitable for a quick weekend trip. We arrived earlier than normal for checkin so we added our information to an early checkin list...unfortunately we were never called and I just ended up checking in early on my Hilton App. We picked a room on the 10th floor...the elevators run pretty quickly so there was never a problem getting from point A to point B. We had to call down to the front desk for a few items...some came and some didnt...all and all the experience was still decent for another stay. It's extremely hard to find workers nowadays so a little patience will go a long way...add the breakfast package to your stay...it's a good value if you are staying a few days and prefer a meal to start your day...the rooms were larger than expected however they do not come standard with a mini refrigerator...just something to note read more
