I went in to look for vegan food and was happy to find they had a few options. However, I was very dissatisfied with the tiny portion and the food lacked flavor. I usually try to be positive about any restaurant with vegan options but unfortunately this place has made it difficult. I hope others have a better experience with the food. My wife and I accidentally ran into this place on our first night in Rome. We had just finished an evening walk ( Spanish steps, trevi fountain, pantheon) when we decided to get something to eat. It was a Monday, buddy was open, and they had a table available, so in we went. For such a random decision, this place did not disappoint. I had some of the best pasta ever, and my wife had the eggplant and a pasta with 'shrimp'. ProTip - what they call 'shrimp' in Italy tastes a lot more like American lobster than shrimp. It as out of this world!! The wine was good (not great), but the food and ambiance were wonderful. Our server was very sweet and attentive. The price was entirely fair, and although I was a little concerned that the place was a tourist trap, it seemed to be filled with locals. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting Rome who wants a casual dinner. read more

I found this place very close to Pantheon and Piazza Venezia, right on the corner of Piazza Saint Andrea della Valle. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. Very lovely seating place and the food was fresh and tasteful. We stumbled upon this restaurant on our way to the heart of Rome from our hotel. The decor had a modern yet Italian vibe! We opted to try the al la carte menu instead of the buffet they had available since we are vegetarian. I had the truffle pinsa which was AMAZING! The truffle flavor was just perfect! My husband had their fresh fettuccine with marinara sauce and he enjoyed his dish as well. We did order a tomato bruschetta as a app, which I'd skip if I visited again, it was lacking a little flavor in my opinion. The server was also very friendly and helpful. Wow, what a great place!! We found it by chance, just looking for a restaurant that had a proper internet connection, but once we saw the menu and noticed the great service, we ordered a lot more than just lunch as originally planned! They even have a Happy Hour Buffet table I guess one could call it, so if you come for just for a drink for example, you are more than welcome to help yourself to the food choices they have to offer! Décor is very classy and contemporary. Very clean and organized place! We found many Vegan Options and highly recommend trying any of them, as we ordered almost all of them and loved them!! The owner is great, very on friendly and on top of things. He notices you right away, when you walk in, makes you feel welcomed and taken care of! Great juices and smoothies. Perfect for a light lunch or morning treat. The smoothies are more expensive but are the same sizes as the juices so they are not worth the extra price. Great atmosphere and the staff are very friendly and speak english well. Very clean place too. read more

Loved the lunch buffet special. Around $13 and we got access to a delicious hot buffet, fresh pastries, cold buffet items, and a pasta dish. Tough to beat that near the Pantheon. Despite its high-traffic location, they still make high quality food. I loved the fried calamari and the mussels. Really good coffee and lattes as well. Service is slow and it is crowded, so be prepared to take 1:30 or 2 hours for lunch, but it's worth it in both price and quality. read more

People! Finding alternative milk in Roma is like a needle in a haystack. This place has it and a vegan section of its menu! The Swedish guy (owner?) is beyond accommodating, super friendly and made us feel right at home. We had the salmon carpaccio (pescatarian) and it was delicious, followed by the eggplant balls and mushroom vegan pizza (pinsa?). Great menu, creative dishes, fresh ingredients. Comfortable and breezy décor. Stopped here randomly for dinner, got a seat of my choice (needed to charge my phone :) Received complimentary appetizer, vegan mayo with veggies (fresh fennel nice touch); and a glass of wine. I was told everything is made from scratch, so I expected longer wait. Couple of unique dishes were not available, too bad. Tuna tartare was really flavourful, with refreshing mint taste and subtle passion fruit notes. HOWEVER, it was very salty and I know that this is not how tartar is meant to be. I had to asked for bread to offset the salt. It would have helped if the bread wasn't dried out, that's what happens when you keep it in the paper bag too long. Also, if you're going to charge for it then please give more than 3 pieces and don't serve it in a brown paper bag. Gnocchi had lots of flavour too. Little pieces of tuna melted in my mouth, tasty sauce, perfectly cooked cherry tomatoes (not mushy) and you can see little black balls of caviar. BUT it was also really SALTY. I had to order water that comes in only litter bottles, which at first I thought would be too much for one person, but apparently not when you're trying to wash down all that salt. In all fairness the waitress offered to make another portion, which was still a bit salty even the second time around. The manager also apologized, wine fill-up on the house. Kudos for the effort but you lost me when the second attempt failed. For the record, I'm not into "salt is evil" theory and love salty food when it's supposed to be. What killed another star was the washroom, dirty and dungeony. I wonder, can't a restaurant that charges €2 for 3 slices of bread afford a new toilet seat? I hope the management fixes some things up since this place has a lot of potential. read more

For our trip to Rome I looked up some places for food in advance. We decided to try out Buddy due to it's good reviews and we didn't regret it at all. I made an reservation online in advance and even though I got the conformation e-mail when we arrived there they said there was no reservation made. Fortunately that wasn't a problem as the restaurant wasn't really busy...YET. It was 8 pm and as time passed more people came and in the end, when we left ( must have been around 10 pm) the place was really busy. Now about the food. I really like their menu as it is seperated in dishes with meat, fish or vegan. That way everyone is able to find something suitable for their taste. They also offer a buffet, but we didn't try that. As a starter we ordered the salmon tartare with avocado and chia seeds. It was delicious. We were all very happy with the entries we choose. My grandpa got the Saltim Bocca, but by mistake he didn't order a side, so he ordered potatoes after he already received his meal and he hadn't had to wait long at all for them to come out. The other entries we got were a pinseria with tomatoes, basil and buffalo mozzarella, spelt fettucine with seitan ragù and pasta with pistachio pesto and scampi. They ran out of calamari which we initially wanted to order. We loved all of the dishes we had! I had the seitan ragù and it was really tasty. It is important to mention that the service was outstanding. Everybody was super nice and as a table at the window wasn't occupied anymore we were offered to move there even though we didn't ask for it. That was great. In conclusion we can say we had an awesome experience and I highly recommend going there. read more

I ate at Buddy twice during my three weeks in Rome. Not only is it classy, but they offer lots to eat. They have buffets during the afternoon and evening, which only cost me 12€ both times I had the buffet. Extremely healthy buffet, zucchini, eggplant, quinoa, pizza, and so much fruit! They also have cakes, croissants and other pastries if you don't want to eat at the buffet. I had the buffet twice, bought croissants for breakfast on three occasions, and purchased two cappuccinos. Very welcoming atmosphere and I would recommend this place to anyone who enjoys a nice cafe. It is also right next to Sant'Andrea della Valle, so you can eat while viewing a beautiful church. For me, other restaurants were better, but this cafe was still lovely. read more

We found this place on our way to the Vatican Museums. It is between the Pantheon and Campo do Fiori. The staff spoke English and were very nice. We ordered a cappuccino and grabbed two muffins. To our surprise the muffins had apricot jam inside...best muffins we have ever eaten! We had to come back for breakfast the next day just so my wife could get another muffin!
