BHC is a very well run, responsive, personable, respectful, and conscientious business. They come when they say they will, do only what's needed, and provide fair value for their services. The workers are straight forward in their explanations, taking photo evidence of the roofing conditions to share with the home owner. They discuss what needs to be done right away and explain the options available, which is good to have if working with a budget. They follow up with reminders if the roof is coming due for maintainence which is a nice service. Outta sight, outta mind is human nature, so i appreciate the reminders for recoats, etc. The roof is not something to leave to chance, especially with the crazy weather experienced lately ( strong winds, hail, torrential rainfall, etc). I recently had a clogged downspout (from some tree debris) that was pooling water on the roof and BHC was out within a few days of my call. No job is too small when it comes to their customers. The team arrived at our house at 7 am and they were in the process of cleaning up by 11 am. In all, I made five phone calls to try to line up estimates on having slates replaced. Two never bothered to return the call. One called back 3-4 days later. Another called back 2 days later. (That guy, the Coplay, not Bensalem Romano, said he "doesn't do" estimates on slate replacements.) Just one called back that very day, and boy, did we luck out - J & M Roofing. We already knew the rough going price of slate replacement and J & M was right in the pocket. The boss, Greg, was a charming and down to earth guy and his son (he has two in the business with him) made a point of stopping by swiftly and taking pictures that were emailed to us to show exactly what needed replacing. Greg has been in the business a long time and knows how to ration his time. Quicker jobs like ours get reserved for days of iffy weather and weekends, and indeed, the following weekend he and one son and one helper showed up and got the job done in short order. The job was done just recently so I can't tell you about durability. I can tell you that we were happy with the speed of response, and that all the workers were personable and cleaned up afterwards decently. Throughout the process, Greg was a good and consistent communicator too. If you're looking for an experienced roofer - and one who knows slate - definitely include J & M Roofing in your considerations.

They seem to be stand-up craftsmen who want to do a good job at all costs and don't treat their customers like just another number. The previous owner purchased and had Jiffy install a new slider just before closing. She also purchased a screen, but never told me about it. After my mom passed, I went through the invoices the previous owner left me (I was thinking about having some repair work done) and noticed there was a note from Jiffy that the screen would be left with the new owner (me). So, I called to follow up on it. I was informed the screen was delivered to her (but is nowhere to be found). I asked for pricing on a new screen. Steve came over after a month or so and brought a screen door for a fitting. I explained that I live in a condo community that REQUIRES board approval for any exterior changes by homeowners - yes, that includes a new screen door. He tried to talk me into letting them install it anyway and I refused (politely and because I don't intend to get on my condo board's and/or neighbor's bad side). Deep in grief, I paid for the screen in full and kept the screen. Steve promised to come back and install it once I had approval. I made a mistake on the check and Steve came out the NEXT day (a Saturday) to get a replacement check. That is the last I heard from or saw Steve. I called and left messages after the board approved the new screen door. I was only able to get an answer when I blocked my number prior to calling. At this point in my life, I don't chase low character people. And I also don't start big, expensive projects with companies I haven't worked with before. I have lots of work to have done around here (I purposely bought an outdated home in need of superficial repairs/replacements so I could update it to my liking). I know who I WON'T be calling in the future to provide services. If someone will dodge your calls over a couple hundred bucks, you KNOW you can't trust them with larger, more expensive projects.
